They did a great job of helping me through the entire process and understanding what had to happen and when it had to happen. So far, ChopDawg.com has achieved everything they told me they would. 

The quality of their work has been outstanding, and they took an innovative approach in terms of helping me design what the app was going to look like. I also appreciated that they cared enough to not just make it a boilerplate special.

ChopDawg.com’s project management was exceptional. They communicated clearly and were transparent throughout the project, so there were no surprises. They also had no problems with deadlines, and they did all of their work immediately and as it needed to be done. I was very pleased.

This was my first time working with a development company, but the team’s communication from start to finish was excellent. They explained the process well in terms of what was going to happen, when it was going to happen, who I was going to talk to, and what it was going to cost.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind right away. The only thing that was difficult was trying to collaborate on a project with so much creative input over a distance and online. That’s just the nature of the business; it has nothing to do with ChopDawg.com.

What challenge were you trying to address with ChopDawg.com?

I needed to build an application to take my idea to investors and bring it all the way into fruition. The idea behind the app is to translate medical language into plain language. That way, patients can have a better grip on their healthcare.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChowDawg used Invision to develop a nonfunctional prototype of my application. Their team created the wireframes and the artwork.

They designed the app to help patients understand what their medical providers says to them. So, if a doctor explains how to take a medication or a diagnosis, patients can ask the MEDSPLAIN™ translator to translate that medical speak into easily understood language. It was also designed for patient safety by helping patients to advocate for themselves.

What is the team composition?

When I first started with ChopDawg, I communicated with Josh (CEO) and Arie (Director of Account Relationships). I had wonderful conversations with both of them. In the next phase, I worked with their development team that consisted of Child (UI/UX Designer), Josh, and Alex (Project Manager).

How did you come to work with ChopDawg.com?

I searched the internet and Clutch was one of the first sites that came up in my browser. I liked all of the information about different companies. ChopDawg’s tagline caught my attention. It seemed like they wanted their clients to succeed.

I spent $18,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started talking in January 2020 but officially began the project in March. Their team finished the prototype May.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They helped bring my ideas to life. I have a visual of what my app can be, which is priceless. While explaining it verbally carries some weight, it’s worth a thousand words to hold the platform in my hand and show it to prospective clients or investors. Josh took the time to listen to what I wanted and what I needed, which was great.

How did ChopDawg.com perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly meetings when we went over all of the changes that their team made. I would review their work and make suggestions. They were extremely professional throughout the engagement. Their team was timely too, so the project was done on time if not a little sooner. My work schedule got in the way of some tasks, which they understood.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to take my ideas and put them into this type of technology was phenomenal. They not only had artistic expertise but were also able to understand what I wanted to accomplish medically. While they’re not a medical company, they did an awesome job with a medial application.

Chopdawg developed a prototype of our mobile app. They provided the ability to demo our prototype through InVision. I foresee their team completing the code to create a functional app available in the Google Play and the App Store.

I researched service providers online for several weeks. I settled on ChopDawg because of their online reputation, which I gathered by reading their reviews. They also have a physical office that’s only an hour's drive from where I live. I needed a US-based development firm because we’re developing an app idea that had a pending patent.

I hold ChopDawg and the folks that work there in high regard. They took the time to talk through and educate me on what it takes to develop a mobile app. I’ve learned a lot from them. They’ve been a tremendous help to me.

I work with other organizations to develop this company. So far, everyone’s amazed at how quickly they've been able to create this prototype.

I’m happy with their ability to meet deadlines. They’ve been in constant communication with me. The collaboration has been great because they’re open and receptive to my input.

What did you find most impressive about them?

ChopDawg stays focused but can also change gears to keep up with my ideas. They’re receptive to my inputs on the direction for the prototype.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There should be an opportunity to go through the original project’s goals and what was delivered line by line. This would be a time to ensure that ChopDawg and their client are in agreement. We were in agreement, but I wanted to make sure none of the requirements were forgotten. Towards the end of the project, I read the whole proposal and checked off their completed responsibilities.

I’m the CEO and founder of Crow. We’re an online high-end fashion, social media included application. Users can share their high-end goods to an in-house social media platform that can offer discounts to users' friends if they click on the post and go to our platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChopDawg.com developed a prototype application using InVision. I made a template of my rough idea for the product. Their team made a detailed prototype that included navigations.

The application’s almost complete and then all of the assets will be handed to me. The CEO’s helping me create an investor pitch because this is my first application.

How did you come to work with ChopDawg.com?

They had great reviews. In the past, they made amazing apps for impressive brands. Last year, they were rated number one by Yahoo! Finance. I thought those were good credentials. I met with the CEO over UberConference. He was down to earth and understood what I wanted right off the bat. He made a couple of templates that we then discussed, and it was a great fit.

For this application, I spent a couple of thousand dollars.

We started the project in January 2020, and it’s almost complete. They’re ahead of the deadline by almost two months.

The designer knocked it out of the park. They blew me away with the whole process. Overall, it was a great experience and I plan to develop an application with them.

We used UberConference and Google to communicate. The designer e-mailed me daily. Their team got the project done quickly and effectively. We worked with InVision, which was a great application because we could leave comments on the designs and get emails right away. The CEO was friendly.

ChopDawg.com provided insight from day one. They went into detail that gave me more of an understanding of where I want to that this.

No, I think everything was fine.

The business is a sports trivia app. I am a talk show host based out of Philadelphia. I’ve been doing a local sports talk show for the last 20 years on radio and television. I also doing one nationally for Fox.

I had a concept about a trivia game, so I partnered with ChopDawg.com.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed to leverage my brand with this sports trivia. Step by step they’ve helped develop everything and bring my vision to life. They built out the wireframes and explained everything to a novice like me. It was built for iOS and Android.

They have an RSS feed for me. As a talk show host, we can do live radio broadcasts and YouTube videos. When people play the trivia game, they can watch and listen to our other sports content as well.

There’s also a geolocation feature. If users go into a specific bar or restaurant in the area, and they ask users to play a game, they could compete for prizes in the restaurant, like a beer, fries, or a sandwich. They were instrumental in creating that.

We’re almost done, but now we’re building the content database of questions.

My partner worked with them in the past and suggested we work with them again. When I met them, I was super impressed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’m blown away by the speed in how they developed it. They’re an asset in all aspects. We will be ready to launch soon, which will give sports fans who don’t have anything to watch because of COVID-19, something to be excited about.

I really appreciated their collaborative approach. From every aspect of the launch to what the game would feel like, they came up with suggestions that would improve the app.

I’ve worked with other companies like this before that just didn’t pay attention to the client. ChopDawg.com paid attention to what I wanted and helped streamline and focus my idea.

They’re on point at every juncture of the project. There are emails and follow-ups. We have weekly updates on what the app looks like, what step they’re on. Then they send an email and I sign off on what they’re doing. So, I’m always aware of what they’re working on and they don’t move on unless I give them the green light. They’ve never missed a deadline.

What did you find most impressive about them?

This team is impressive. I was impressed by everyone overseeing the project, the project managers, and everyone building it. Their professionalism is amazing. They understand how the technology applies to business.

We’re a new startup that’s pretty loosely organized, but I play the role of a project manager. Our company sits between a social and photo-sharing app. The two co-founders wanted to bring this project to life, and they brought me in to organize the development. What was the scope of their involvement?

We didn’t know what to expect from a development project, but it ended up being a pretty straightforward process. Once we decided upon a project, we had weekly calls with their designer who was using InVision to create the front-end. It was exciting to see new things come to life each week through that platform. They took rudimentary notes and sketches on paper from us to understand what we wanted. It was refreshing to know that they were willing to work with us in that way.

We worked with a designer and project manager on the design of the app.

We reached out to them, after using Clutch for my research. Our team didn’t really know what we wanted, as we’re a non-technical group. However, their portfolio of past work was impressive.

The seemed like a perfect match for our situation based on their reviews, and we decided that constructing a non-functioning prototype would be best for our purposes. We received other quotes for expensive build-outs of app products, but Josh (CEO, ChopDawg.com) didn’t think that was the right way to go. We appreciated his honestly, so we got started out with them.

We started the project with them in Septemeber 2019 and completed the prototype in February 2020. However, we recently reached back out to start working with them on development. We plan to drop a new contact and start developing the app with them.

We’re a small operation, so our goal was to get a functioning prototype together. Our team was impressed with the quality and features of their work. Things we didn’t think of ourselves, they incorporated for us.

The end product was a very valuable design that would’ve held its own if we needed to pitch to venture capital companies. We’re self-funding, so we didn’t need that. However, we were very happy with the detailed, high-quality prototype that they developed.   

How did ChopDawg.com perform from a project management standpoint?

Our founders have full-time day jobs and are squeezing this project in when they can. Their team understood that and accommodated our situation. We couldn’t always make the weekly calls, but it was alright. They would help us get back on track if we ever fell off schedule-wise. We enjoyed our face-to-face communication with them. They were timely and easy to collaborate with. Everything has been completed on time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very patient with the process and have experience working with new startups. Throughout the work, they were super personable and delivered a top-notch service. Their designers were easy to work with, providing their input and expertise as needed.

We weren’t technically savvy, and they adapted to our level of knowledge. That got us more familiar with the industry through their patience and willingness to hold our hand through the process.

In the beginning, we had some scheduling issues, but that was peanuts. We’ve been very pleased with everything that they’ve done for us.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of the prototype. It's as good as I could have imagined it. I had the idea in mind, but I wouldn't have been able to put this together myself until I came to ChopDawg.com. They helped me bring the concept to life. Their team created an outline of all the screens that the app would need, including ones I wouldn't have thought of. I could not have imagined a better tool to use in order to get my funding.

How did ChopDawg.com perform from a project management standpoint?

The back-and-forth communication is as good as it could be. ChopDawg.com responds right away, and they're on top of everything. There is no dumb question. I can comfortably ask any question suggest any idea, and they’ll let me know whether it’s a good one or not as feasible.  

ChopDawg.com outlines their deadlines and expectations very clearly in the proposal, and they’ve never fallen short of what they promised. The communication is also literally perfect. Their team accommodates my schedule without complaint while meeting all deadlines on their end. 

At the end of the project, I received all the design files that they worked on, which I deeply appreciated. We’ve used InVision throughout the process, from looking over wireframes to designing the hotspot itself.

I’m a CIO/CTO of Flynn O'Hara Uniforms. We specialize in school and nursing uniforms. We develop contracts with schools, and those contracts are shared with the parents. We have 34 brick-and-mortar stores, as well as a website, for access to our products.

What challenge were you trying to address with ChopDawg.com?

We swell up pretty immensely in the July–September period, and that’s when most of our business occurs. The challenge was figuring out how to expedite and improve the customer experience as they went through our stores.

We would take information from our customers, which was a slow process. Unfortunately, parents wait until the last moment to purchase uniforms for the school year. In their defense, that’s because children are growing, so they need to make sure they have clothing that’ll be adaptable for the whole year, versus coming back to buy new uniforms.

We reached out to ChopDawg.com because we wanted to build a mobile app, and we wanted to start the buying process early through it so that we could capture all the customer information and create customer profiles. Our business is based on the school, the gender, and the grade, and we wanted to incorporate that into our mobile app, whereby a consumer could come in and—utilizing a 2D barcode—check-in and start their buying process. As they would exit the store into their point of sale, they could check out with that same barcode. That would fill our POS system with all the information they needed for the purchase, and expedite the customer out the door.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChopDawg.com started out with InVision designs. That’s a touch-and-feel application where we could prototype what we were looking at. They organized weekly meetings, and we signed off on every piece to move forward. There was no scope creep, and nothing along the lines of “I said this, you said that.” The process was instrumental in moving forward with this application.

The initial scope of the project was to do a full-blown mobile app, with everything from customer profiles to buying items, prior to going to the store as well as covering the in-store process. Unfortunately, we had to take a step back for internal reasons and consider a phased approach. We made a proof of concept first, and worked in phases from there, with building blocks along the way. Josh and I brainstormed that idea, and his company was flexible enough to accommodate us.

I’ve learned over the years that the more people we involve in a project, the more we’ll have different ideas being thrown out, collectively increasing the scope of the project. I’ve found that ChopDawg.com follows the same methodology as I do–we take a step, we all agree on it, we sign off, and we take another step. It’s like a building block to a production environment, making sure that both sides of the coin are equal, and that we all understand what they need to have.

We’ve just signed off on the prototype. They nailed that phase, and we’re now going into development, which I can’t comment on yet.

I’ve been in this business for 40 years, and I just took a stab at ChopDawg.com based on their website. I brought them in along with another vendor, and they outshined that other vendor immensely. They weren’t a very starch kind of software shop; they were open to different ideas, and they brought their experience from other outfits to the table. They’d worked for a large restaurant, which impressed us.

They also had a very casual approach, which fit with our team. They impressed us with their understanding of how mobile applications work, but they also followed a workflow that met our requirements.

The cost so far has been $10,000, and I expect that we’ll pay another $50,000 when this is all over.

We started working with them in February or March 2019, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

ChopDawg.com is very open to ideas. When we started building this project as a team, they didn’t tell us, “our way or the highway”. They were open throughout, and they were able to utilize InVision to really show the look and feel of how the app would operate once it came into production. They also came up with new ideas, which helped us expedite the process.

We don’t know what we don’t know, and bringing their expertise and former trials and tribulations within the mobile app environment have been beneficial for us. This was the first mobile app our company made, and we wanted it to be successful. So far, ChopDawg.com has met our expectations.

How did ChopDawg.com perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re using UberConference. It gives us reminders before the meetings, which has been very useful for us. They use InVision for prototypes as well as for timelines. They’re responsive in any way or form. We can email or even call them at any time of day or night and they’ll respond to those requests.

I’m very happy to have found a vendor like this. I’ve worked with other vendors that had no methodology and were just slapping things together, whereas ChopDawg.com is putting together the building blocks to make it a production mobile app.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I just think they’re in-tune with the technology. They’re coming up with many different ideas, and they’re flexible. If all of a sudden, we were to go down an unforeseen path, they’d just take a couple of steps back and do it a different way, in order to satisfy us on how we want the app to work.

We had weekly conference calls with their team where they would put us on their screen to show us all of the new features and capabilities. It was like having a front-row seat. Otherwise, we communicated mostly through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I couldn’t have asked for a better team. We were just so impressed with their constant updates and great attitudes. It didn’t feel like they were working for me, it felt like we were working together.

This is my first time building an app, so I don’t have much to compare this experience to. It would’ve been nice if they hit all our deadlines, but it’s very difficult to do that in this industry. They were great to work with the whole time.

I needed an experienced development company that understood the complexity of my product and had attention to detail. We engaged ChopDawg.com to redesign my existing designs of the app and then build it out.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ChopDawg.com is building the app for both iOS and Android devices. Despite being a purely mobile product for now, it will require a website, a payment mechanism, and emerging technologies such as blockchain and VR. We’re still in the design stage. Having finished the design sprints, we’re not making a color prototype and creating the backend. We’re rethinking that backend infrastructure to account for the amount of data we plan to enter in the app.

What is the team composition?

At the moment, I’m working with two designers and a project manager. I also speak to the CEO, a marketing person, and the assistant to the CEO regularly. We expect the team to be 10–12 in total when the development starts and we scale up.

How did you come to work with ChopDawg.com?

I interviewed several local tech agencies in New York. Many of the larger ones wanted to scale down my project dramatically while charging high fees and didn’t seem to understand my concept. One of the smaller firms planned to outsource the code, design, and project management to outside the US. Given the potential for language barrier issues, I didn’t feel comfortable with that arrangement.

Then I went onto Clutch and looked through reviews for a number of agencies. I landed on ChopDawg.com and clicked through to their website where I watched their videos and looked through the methodologies. Their level of sophistication blew me away. The project manager is very attentive. However, because I'm so hands-on, I prefer direct communication with team members. ChopDawg.com lets me talk to their designer daily without having to go through the project manager. He’s shared the sketch file with me and let me make adjustments as needed. The designer then updates the project manager and Joshua. I’m also happy with my relationship with the CEO. I can text Joshua, and he’ll get back to me in under 30 seconds. He’s like my CTO. ChopDawg.com truly feels integrated into my company, which I never expected with an outside agency. They’re responsive and reliable—they haven’t let me down yet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m more than thrilled with the work that ChopDawg.com has delivered so far. Whenever I go to them with an issue, they always come up with a simple and effective solution. If I question their ideas or processes, they’ll sometimes come back and agree with my pushback. I’ve worked with many tech people over the years, and I expected to have more issues with a remote. Instead, the opposite is true of ChopDawg.com. I was blindsided by how easy it is to work with their team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. Our teams’ communication is 100%; there’s no daylight between us. Their prices are excellent as well; they charged me half as much as larger agencies I considered, and they are interested in the challenge that my project poses.
