I’m the owner of a software development company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Belkins?
We needed lead generation and prospecting services.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Belkins performs email marketing campaigns to reach prospects and set up appointments. Initially, the team had agreed to deliver 30 leads. However, we’ve barely received five leads. Our initial target market was North America, but since Belkins hasn’t performed well in this area, I’ve asked them to prospect in European and Asian markets. I’ve even helped Belkins reach out to prospects and have given them different approaches.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with 3–4 teammates from Belkins, including Nadiia (Account Manager) and the head of sales. There is usually a group of four teammates in our calls, but only one person takes the lead.
How did you come to work with Belkins?
I found Belkins on Clutch.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve provided Belkins with an advanced payment of $12,200, which would be the payment for two months of work.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started our conversations with Belkins in September 2022 and signed our engagement contract in January 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?
Belkins has taken a long time to deliver leads that aren’t based on the procedure we’ve explained. Shortly after we provided the initial invoice for $12,200, Belkins sent a second invoice, although we hadn’t received any quality results yet.
We’ve kept increasing our target audience and region; however, nothing fruitful has come out. I’ve written emails to Belkins asking what they can do to cover up for the poor performance, and they’ve responded by saying they have a new head of sales and that they’ve done a fantastic job as promised; however, I don’t see the fantastic job.
How did Belkins address the challenges that arose?
Belkins had one of our domains for marketing purposes. I asked for the domain back, and after getting it, I asked Belkins’ salesperson what they could do about the poor performance, and they replied by saying they had given their best shot in this project.
After delivering the five leads, I immediately told Belkins that two of the leads weren’t good quality and that one of the leads didn’t show up for our appointment. We’ve had conversations on Slack and given them feedback on every call about this issue, but the results haven’t changed.
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.
We’ve seen zero revenue for our payment. Initially, Belkins said they were asking for the advanced payment because they wanted to ensure we would stick around, and this payment would help them perform better. Belkins has said they wanted to feel monetarily secured, but it doesn’t make any sense to pay $12,200 and not get any results in return.
Belkins claims to be great at appointment setting; however, the team hasn’t been able to deliver appointments. Anything else Belkins does well doesn’t matter anymore. I don’t need fancy presentations and reports; they could send an email with the number of appointments because that would mean they’re doing their job, but we haven’t received that.
How was project management handled?
There isn’t anything wrong with Belkins’ communication process. We meet once a week, and Belkins shows us a prospecting report. The team creates fancy charts about the prospects they’ve reached, and most of the time, these reports say they had tried to send 500 emails but didn’t receive any response.
Eight months have gone by, and Belkins still hasn’t received a response. I wouldn’t say it’s a project management issue; I just don’t know if Belkins has put their best resources into our campaigns. Initially, Nadiia was leading our project; however, she was absent for a while, and this impacted our engagement.
Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?
No.
What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
I don’t recommend paying Belkins in advance. They will make up stories of why you should pay them in advance but don’t do it because it doesn’t work. I can’t back off fully because I have already paid them.
The only reason I hired Belkins was because they’ve said they had their own software that makes their email marketing stand out from the rest of the market, but I haven’t seen any results. Belkins performs general email campaigns, but honestly, I could’ve hired a different company that would send emails for me to set up appointments because Belkins isn’t talking to anyone.

The service provider responded on October 31, 2023. In our collaborative endeavor, mutual effort is critical for achieving optimal results. While we were committed to leveraging your provided resources like case studies for better campaign tailoring, the delay in receiving these materials limited our effectiveness. This, combined with instances of missed weekly calls and appointments on Client's end, hindered real-time campaign optimization.
It’s worth noting that our strategic decision to target European and Asian markets was intentional, as North American markets seemed less conducive to your value proposition. However, there were discrepancies in our approach, notably with the client’s last-minute decision to halt outreach in a region we had mutually agreed upon. This lapse had a real impact on our planned efforts.
On our side, we’re designed for agility. We continually test and adapt to provide bespoke solutions for every client. Missing out on our scheduled calls didn’t just affect reporting—it curtailed our ability to strategically adjust and draw from your invaluable feedback. We’ve established a strong contingency plan to ensure uninterrupted service and maintain high-quality performance, even when our team members are on vacation.
Finally, about our upfront charging agreement: it was never a one-sided decision. We had transparent conversations about market-specific challenges and your explicit awareness and consent were secured before proceeding. In essence, effective collaboration is a two-way street, and we always remain agile and committed to driving your success. Your engagement, however, is pivotal for meeting shared objectives.
