BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization. What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m the CEO and owner of an online travel agency. We specialize in discount airfares. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with AltexSoft?

The issue was that we had a smaller team of software developers in Europe. These guys were doing a good job, but we were looking for a team that could handle an extremely high volume of transaction processing. We were looking for people who had experience in this area. We needed a team that had experience with front-end and back-end development. We were also working on a price prediction project and needed assistance developing the product.

SOLUTION

What was your process for selecting AltexSoft with which to work?

I have a lot of experience in software. I came up with a novel way of selecting the AltexSoft team. I was going through companies who offered the services I was looking for and I asked to interview those companies’ top engineers. I asked them to show me their best source code and explain to me why it was good. I made my decision by inspecting the source code they provided me. I conferred with other colleagues, and AltexSoft had the best average number of top producing engineers.

Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work hour figure?

We have 10 AltexSoft developers working on our project now; however, AltexSoft has about 140 employees total, so it is nice to know that we can use other resources if we need to. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Is there anything unique or special about AltexSoft that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?

We’re very satisfied with AltexSoft. They’re neither big nor small for the Ukrainian market. They run like a big corporation, but still it’s a family business. The employees have a relationship with their work. They’re a dedicated team. They’re dedicated to your company and your project from start to finish. It’s not just a job to them. Our problems become their problems.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

I don’t have any qualms. There’s always challenges. You want to have as many quality engineers as possible. It’s always challenging to find the right people. 

BACKGROUND

Can you briefly describe your company?

We are a technology consulting firm that builds custom software for complex problems. We are based out of Houston, Texas.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What were your goals going into the project?

We needed to create a very large software package for a franchise business. This software would manage of every aspect of the franchiser's business including customers, franchisees, inventory, finances, and standard process control. The software also had to be integrated with the existing internal communication software.

SOLUTION

How did you discover AltexSoft?

We placed a request for proposal out and received bids from about 100 software development firms. We were initially impressed with the feedback that we heard about AltexSoft, and placed them on our shortlist. What separated AltexSoft apart was that they suggested meaningful improvements and offered great advice based on our project and the initial proposal.

What technologies were used?

The project was a joint development effort. We stuck to our core competency, which is in PHP. AltexSoft mainly worked in ASP.NET.
