BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a technical architect at Kohler, an American manufacturing company. We’re best known for our plumbing products, but we also manufacture furniture, cabinetry, tile, engines, and generators.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Alt Digital Technologies to accomplish for Kohler?
We engaged Alt Digital Technologies to support and enhance several strategic Salesforce initiatives across our business operations. The primary objective was to improve process efficiency, strengthen system scalability, and provide better visibility for sales, service, and operational teams through customized Salesforce solutions.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Alt Digital Technologies handles a broad range of Salesforce-related activities for us, covering both enhancement initiatives and ongoing platform support. Their scope of work includes Salesforce configuration, Apex and Lightning development, workflow and approval automation, integrations, reporting, and user support across multiple business functions.
Key deliverables include custom Salesforce enhancements to support sales, service, and operational processes; development of Lightning components, Apex classes, flows, validation logic, and automation to reduce manual work and improve efficiency; optimization of approval workflows and business process automation; integration support between Salesforce and external/internal systems; creation and enhancement of dashboards and reports; ongoing issue resolution, user support, and system maintenance; and collaboration with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
What is the team composition?
We work with 10–15 teammates from Alt Digital Technologies.
How did you come to work with Alt Digital Technologies?
We found them through a referral. We chose them over other options because they had high ratings, their pricing fit our budget, they were a great culture fit, they offered good value for the cost, and their company values aligned with ours.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $1 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in January 2024, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our engagement with Alt Digital Technologies has delivered several measurable improvements across our Salesforce environment and operational processes.
Some of the key outcomes include a 40% reduction in manual effort through automation of approvals, notifications, and workflow-driven processes, which has helped improve overall operational efficiency; 30%–50% faster turnaround times for business processes such as approvals and case/order handling due to streamlined workflows and improved system logic; 25%–35% improved data accuracy and consistency by implementing stronger validations, automation, and standardized processes within Salesforce; better reporting visibility for business and leadership teams through enhanced dashboards and custom reporting capabilities; increased user adoption and user satisfaction as a result of UI improvements, quicker issue resolution, and more intuitive system behavior; and reduced dependency on manual follow-ups and offline tracking because several operational activities were brought directly into Salesforce.
Overall, the project has helped create a more scalable and efficient Salesforce ecosystem that better supports day-to-day business operations and internal teams.
How did Alt Digital Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Like most long-term enterprise projects, there have been a few areas where timelines or outcomes have taken longer than originally anticipated, although the overall engagement with Alt Digital Technologies has been positive.
Some initiatives involving complex business processes, integrations, or evolving stakeholder requirements have required multiple iterations before reaching the desired outcome. In certain cases, changing business priorities and dependency on internal teams have also impacted timelines and delayed the full realization of the expected benefits.
There have also been situations where additional refinements have been needed after deployment to better align the solution with end-user expectations or operational realities. However, the Alt Digital Technologies team has been generally responsive in addressing feedback and working collaboratively to stabilize and improve the solutions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What stands out most about working with Alt Digital Technologies is their responsiveness, technical expertise, and willingness to truly understand the business context behind each requirement rather than simply executing development tasks. Their team is highly collaborative and adaptable, especially in situations where requirements evolve or urgent business priorities emerge.
They’re able to quickly analyze issues, propose practical solutions, and deliver enhancements with a good balance of speed and quality.
Another impressive aspect is their strong ownership mindset. They consistently stay engaged through the full lifecycle of requirements — from discussions and design through testing, deployment, and post-production support. The team is proactive in identifying potential improvements and optimization opportunities instead of waiting only for direct instructions.
From a technical standpoint, their Salesforce knowledge across automation, Apex, Lightning components, approvals, and process optimization is very solid. At the same time, they communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders, which makes collaboration much smoother. Overall, they feel more like an extension of our internal team rather than an external vendor, and that partnership-oriented approach adds significant value throughout the engagement.
Are there any areas they could improve?
In some cases, more proactive communication around timeline impacts, dependencies, or implementation risks would have helped improve planning and stakeholder alignment. Certain complex enhancements have also required multiple refinement cycles before fully matching business expectations, so additional upfront requirement validation or user walkthroughs could have reduced rework. There have also been opportunities to improve documentation and knowledge transfer for some custom implementations to make long-term maintenance easier for internal teams. As the project has evolved and business requirements have changed frequently, having more structured release planning and prioritization discussions at times could have improved overall coordination.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Alt Digital Technologies is receptive to feedback, responsive in addressing concerns, and continuously works toward improving delivery quality and collaboration throughout the engagement.
