We reached out to AddWeb to help us with architectural approaches to some innovative and complex features that we needed to build for a variety of development projects for clients.

AddWeb provides both consulting and proof of concepts for different web development projects. They've worked on standard development projects that include automated testing within a variety of frameworks, including Drupal, React, and GraphQL.

We work with two full-time developers and two others on an ad hoc basis, including Ashish (Strategic Partner, AddWeb Solution), who's been very personable and knowledgeable throughout the engagement. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since February 2018 and plan to expand our relationship with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although we don't have any data on the effectiveness of the work they've developed, I can say that their process has been very refreshing given the thin requirements we've provided. This is somewhat of a discovery-driven partnership, so they've been very flexible and open to our needs. They've done a great job of helping us balance complex features with innovation, usability, and long-term maintainability. 

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very good at documenting their work and staying in touch throughout each project as it progresses. I'm looking forward to ways that we can evolve the technology we're using for project management to make that process more seamless. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The experience has been great overall. Usually, working with a vendor in a different timezone presents challenges, but they've been incredibly good at coordinating their work. They obviously have a lot of experience in managing clients overseas, which makes a huge difference. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We're still meshing our styles of work together at this point, so I anticipate the relationship will continue to evolve in a positive direction.

I needed supplementary resources for a project we were currently working on. Our internal processes were in a bit of a mess.

They helped us with two or three Drupal development projects.

We worked with the main account director, the director, and three developers. For one project, we had one of those developers engaged on a full-time basis for four to six months.

I had met Ashish (Head of Strategic Partnership, AddWeb Solution) at conferences. Having gotten the opportunity to know him, I felt prepared to have him do the work, rather than making contact only over email.

We worked together from November 2015–March 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were more than fair with us. Ashish was really good about establishing a clear connection with us and was open to our recommendations and critique of his team. It became more than just a client-supplier relationship. They properly augmented and supplemented our team: without their help, we wouldn’t have gotten the projects done.

The quality of the work was acceptable to the client. After QA and user acceptance testing, we found that it did what was needed. The price was reasonable, with fair working conditions, and my developers enjoyed working with their team.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication was good. We added them to our Slack and our clients always got full access to everything through Jira. We were very open with the fact that we were using supplementary resources. Overall, AddWeb worked effectively in our project management processes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re open and want to build good relationships. I still consider them my go-to people, though our business has changed so we haven’t used them again. I trust them as Ashish has done a great job of making himself visible in the UK development community. He understands the market and that’s what has made them successful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We felt that their lead developer needed to become more of an effective manager and less of a developer, but it was an issue that we were able to resolve—It’s a scalability problem that any business is likely to have.

There was never a point we were disappointed with the quality of the work; we set realistic expectations around it. When you bring in any new employees, they need a certain amount of time to get up to speed with how the organization runs.

I'm co-founder and president of a B2B online marketplace for heavy equipment sales and rentals. We connect companies that own underutilized heavy equipment to other qualified companies that want to rent or buy it.

What challenge were you trying to address with AddWeb Solution?

They were with us at the beginning and helped configure our entire platform and launch our first website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our CTO directed the architecture of the site and we provided the design elements. They built the site on Drupal, configured it, and set up all our databases. In the first six months, we worked together and built out all the functionality of the site. They helped set up user profiles and the whole rental process, from request, to contract, to inspection and reviews. They established user notifications and search capabilities that allow users to find equipment based on certain filters.

What is the team composition?

We had multiple contacts, including one of the principals or founders of the company. We had a team of about six, led by a project manager.

Our CTO had an existing relationship with them at another business. He was happy with their work and we decided to work with them based on his recommendation.

What is the status of this engagement?

We employed the team of six from January 2016 until November 2017 during the build. Then, we scaled back to a single person for ongoing support.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform well. I am highly involved with the process. They respond well and make themselves available, even outside of their normal business hours. We use GitHub and they did fairly well with our deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their owner came to meet with us in person, which had a big impact on our relationship. He showed commitment and we really appreciated how flexible they were with our teams. They’re very nimble, adaptable, and willing to accommodate requests with a reasonable amount of notice.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have a long-term relationship with them and they’re committed to fixing issues. We’ve had some communication issues, but that’s to be expected with any remote team. We’ve had no major problems and they always hold themselves accountable if something needs to be resolved.

We were looking to redesign our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an existing site on Drupal, and the AddWeb team helped us adopt a new design. The old site had several proprietary tools on it, which they updated and cleaned up as well. Their work has allowed for greater customization and improved functionality for our product builder.

I posted the project on Upwork, and AddWeb applied.

We started working together in November 2017, and the site was completed in April 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our sales cycle is very long, so it’s difficult to attribute success to any one element of our business. However, we’ve gotten a variety of compliments on the site’s design. We’re very happy with their work internally.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re an American company and they’re based in India, so there were some differences in how we communicate around requirements. There were a few challenges that came along with this, but we were able to work through them and build the site to our specifications. We used GitHub for task management and primarily communicated via Skype. We also used Zoom for screen sharing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was always transparent in what they were working on. We also really appreciated their use of GitHub, which allowed us to follow along with progress and check quality in real time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their estimation for timelines around certain aspects of the project were sometimes high, but we discussed it and they immediately improved.

Make sure to provide as much detail as possible before engaging them.

We needed web development help from someone with programming skills in Laravel.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I made a prototype in pure PHP, which they reprogrammed into Laravel code. The project prototype was fully functional with the database and user interface. Addweb transformed the user interface.

There’s 2 or 3 people involved at any one time.

I needed a cost-effective solution and someone with proven skills in Laravel. After a small project, they proved they had the skills and delivered on time. We chose to continue to work with them.

Their code is very good. They’re fine programmers and they deliver on time. The services are excellent.

We use Trello and GitHub as the repository, as well as Skype calls. Everything is fine. There’s a time difference but it doesn’t pose any problems for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I have only two companies to compare them to. Addweb is cheaper, faster, and generally better. They’re very good.

What outcomes or results can you share that demonstrate progress and/or success?

The outcome was spectacular! They fulfilled all my requirements, were always available to me (often working or chatting at inconvenient times for them), and helped me run a CMS platform despite my limited technical knowledge.

How effective was the project management?

They outlined the steps of the project and shared important milestones along the way. The whole process was superb.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I especially appreciated the friendliness of the company. They always were willing to work with me whenever I had a question. As a client, I’m looking for trust and experience. They provided both and always made me feel like my work—no matter the budget—was their top priority.

I’d give AddWeb Solutions the highest possible endorsement. I think if a client is looking for a reliable Drupal content management and development team, they should choose this company. They’re always available and provided high-quality work on time and within the budget.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

They used Drupal 7 for the web development. The goal was to launch a Python API and we wanted to integrate Drupal with Python. Even though there were difficulties, they were able to do this well.

To my knowledge, there were 4 developers working on this project.

We started working with them on this project in June of this year and the work is ongoing.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Skype to communicate and I managed tickets on my end using YouTrack, which is a tool that we use internally in our company. The communication was good and very transparent with the project manager, which is why we kept them on to do the second phase of the project.

They know the technology well as the code they did was very well done and well written.

We are a research institution located in Cyprus. I work digital cultural heritage data, mostly with Drupal.

What challenge were you trying to address with AddWeb Solution?

We use Drupal as our digital platform for publishing cultural heritage objects. I was trying to develop a module for expectorant transformation image. It was quite a complicated task I couldn’t achieve by myself, so I asked AddWeb Solution for their knowledge, and they developed that module for me.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They used Drupal for my project. I saw on their website they are using PHP, Java, JavaScript, and many other applications. They have a deep knowledge of Drupal and the content management system [CMS]. They are quite good in what they are doing with regard to Drupal technology which is also related to many other things.

What is the team dynamic? 

I spoke with 2 resources, but I’m not sure how many worked on the project.

How did you come to work with AddWeb Solution?

I found out about them through a conference that was related to Drupal. I was presenting our work in New York, in the United Nations office, about cultural heritage and Drupal. I got to know some people including someone working for AddWeb Solution. After that, I went to their website to learn more about them.

It was quite a challenge to find a company to trust. There are a lot of companies doing development. A lot of friends have told me that developers in India are cheap but they can’t deliver and are unprofessional. I was lucky to find out about this company, and I was happy to work with them. Clutch is also a great tool to find trustable companies.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2016. The project is completed, but I have plans to work with them again for development or a future project. I am currently planning to have a different project that I will need their help with.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We published a paper about the project and presented our solution in a couple of universities. I was in Oxford last year presenting the whole project including that package. Some other universities found out about the work they did because I have it on our website and used that module for their own purposes. Because I have it in GitHub, they can download it and use it if they want.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

It was quite easy. I told them what I wanted, and they asked for a formal email explaining exactly what I needed so they could understand. In a couple of days, they had the solution ready. I tested it, and it had some small, minor bugs; I mentioned them, they fixed the bugs, and it was good to go.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I found them very friendly. Anytime I had a question, I could Skype with them. I could write an email even at night and they would respond by the next day. They really paid attention in a personal way. They didn’t use any management tool because the project wasn’t very large, but our communication was perfect.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As it was my first collaboration with them, I cannot suggest any improvements. Maybe in the future, I will have some. Their English is quite good. It’s much better than mine.

Do you have any advice for potential clients?

I believe if you are clear what you need, they can provide you the exact cost. They don’t add on fees after they provide an estimate. They were quite straightforward during our collaboration.

AddWeb Solution developed our PHP Magento website. We continue to work on maintenance and updates for it.

I was involved in a political action committee which used AddWeb Solution for building several online properties. I was impressed with their work and chose AddWeb Solution for the current e-commerce venture. Their costs were reasonable as well.

We started working with AddWeb Solution at the beginning of 2015. Development was stopped midway at one point, but it resumed 2 months ago without any issues.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We haven't yet started marketing the product because some additional features need to be developed. I was happy with the user experience of the site. I checked AddWeb Solution's codebase; best practices were followed and design patterns were good.

How did AddWeb Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

AddWeb Solution provided excellent communication. They were available 24/7, listened to what I was trying to say, and made the process easy.

Are there any areas AddWeb Solution could improve?

I don't have any complaints. AddWeb Solution did a good job overall, and we have a good relationship.
