""They work with our "one band, one sound" philosophy of having a single, integrated team.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a Fractional CTO that works with several companies to optimize development processes and teams for high growth.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev, and what were your goals?

We needed additional development expertise. Being spread throughout the US, we have time zone challenges. We needed a partner that would be available during our range of working hours to avoid the "over the wall" development disappointment. BairesDev brought talent from Central and South America which integrated directly into our teams to maximize our productivity.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found them via referral from a close friend that is also a VP of Engineering. he has worked with them for several years as well and continues to be impressed with the team.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We are building a customer-facing portal using a mix of COTS products, integration tools, and custom development. Our product components are hosted in Azure and developed with .NET. We follow an Agile development process using Azure DevOps for ALM.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Currently working with 2 directly, but have worked with as many as 10-12 Developers and Sr. Developers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our new product has been been released as a beta. We hit every milestone along the path to launching, sometimes before the business was ready...

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

They work with our "one band, one sound" philosophy of having a single, integrated team. This maximizes KT through the development cycle and ensures high productivity regardless if the work is completed by in-house or BairesDev team members.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I love the on-boarding process. No interviews for my team! If the person they screened doesn't work out, we get a replacement. Easy peasy.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing I can think of...

I advise you to get the people who you believe would work well with your team. It’s been a lighter screening process and we’ve had a high success rate with them, but it’s important to find the talent that fits your culture.

""They will always go the extra mile to make the customer happy."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am an Senior Director of Business Technology Team at the Associated Press. The Associated Press is an American non-profit news agency headquartered in New York City. My team implements and supports all back-office applications, including multiple Finance, HR and Payroll, Procurement and CRM solutions

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We have been working with BairesDev since 2014, and used them to provide talent on multiple projects. Key projects were on-going enhancements and support for cloud solution SalesForce (SFDC), and support of custom in-house CRM system which is over 30 years old

What were your goals for this project?

On SalesForce (SFDC) - standard functionality for sales processes did not cover all needs for the AP's sales team. We needed to collect more data about leads, speed up the process of Invoice generation for ad-hoc sales.

Those enhancements increased revenue generation by making purchase and invoice process very dynamic and fast. My team does not have needed skill set in-house, so we reached out to BairesDev.

For old CRM system - the challenge was to support an old SQL-based system without any documentation on how it was written. we needed to keep the system functional and available 24x7, and keep making enhancements to support growing business.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select BairesDev?

I reached out to my peers internally and externally for recommendations, and BAiresDev was on the list of recommended vendors. VP Technology, myself and Senior CRM Architect looked at 3 vendors, and identified BairesDev as a best one.

Have been successfully using them for last 7 years. The deciding factors were skill set of the proposed consultant and flexibility and wiliness to help of BairesDev management. Great team to work with!

Describe the project in detail.

Over the years the BairesDev consultants worked on different components of all projects - overall strategy, design, development, testing and on-going support

What was the team composition?

The team structure varied based on the needs of the specific project. The management was always quick to offer new resources as the needs come up.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As a part of SFDC project, the simple and dynamic creation of the new opportunity pages and on the fly creation of the invoice for the ad-hoc sale allowed sales staff to attend to customers faster, which contributed to the customer retention and new sales.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow is very simple, the resources were managed by our CRM lead, and I had monthly calls with the management to discuss progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The vendor has excellent resources available in multiple areas, but mostly, I was impressed by the flexibility and cooperation by the management. They will always go an extra mile to make the customer happy.

Are there any areas for improvement?

not for me, very satisficed with the services

CEO, ProfolioX

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Dec 2, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: With the beta version live, the internal team is amazed by the quality of work and commend BairesDev for meeting timeframes. What’s key to their success is their customer-forward approach. They ensure that their resources are the right culture and technical fit for each project.
"“I know their team well enough that we know what each other is thinking.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a startup called ProfolioX. We’re a cloud-based tech company that processes data in real-time to convert athlete brands into stock shares.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We were working with an independent contractor who had good technical skills but wasn’t able to fully deliver on what we needed. There were definitely challenges during the product build. Since then, we engaged with BairesDev to develop our product and take it to a live production phase.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev has created a custom web app that functions as a portfolio for athlete stock shares. Everything is on the cloud, which meant that their team needed to build out the pipelines to get information from our data provider into our architecture.

Additionally, they’ve supplied a designer to work on the frontend. That individual has designed the current mobile-responsive solution while keeping in mind that a lot of our users will access our platform on their phones. We’re currently in the process of building a dedicated mobile app version, which should be live soon.

What is the team composition?

At the moment, we work with a team of four. We have an account manager, a product manager, a developer, and a designer. When we need extra services, they allocate additional developers outside of the core team.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

BairesDev actually reached out to us. As a bootstrap startup, we didn’t necessarily have the funds or resources to think about outsourcing, but their team was very persistent. They believed that there was a mutual benefit in working together.

Eventually, I met with Lucas (CTO) who really showed us that BairesDev was focused on building relationships, helping people grow, and evolving companies. That’s when we decided to give them a shot.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $10,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in June 2020, and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The beta version of our web app is now live. Users can create accounts and then buy, sell, and trade football players. We’re also implementing trading competitions to allow users to try out our services.

Overall, the app is of incredible quality, considering where our solution was before we found them. They’ve been able to find the right skill sets needed to fix our product and then implement what we’ve wanted within our timelines.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re fantastic. I’m very much engaged in the project on a day-to-day basis, so I talk to the developer every day. If there’s ever a reason why they’re unavailable, I can always trust my account manager to put things in motion. They’ll reach out and ask if I need anything.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BairesDev puts a lot of focus and attention into finding the right relationships for a project. That’s important because it’s not just a working relationship at that point but rather a personal engagement. So, it’s far more rewarding when that interpersonal element is there. I know their team well enough that we know what each other is thinking.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If I had to give some kind of criticism, I’d say that they care too much — and that’s not even a bad thing! Because they’re so invested in us and want to see us do well, they’re willing to give us all of the options. That can be distracting sometimes. Instead of focusing on one delivery or item, I’m thinking about all of the amazing things I could be doing in the future.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We literally had no idea what we were getting our hands into. Yes, we had tech advisors who validated that BairesDev was a legitimate company that was giving us a good rate, but the process of finding and establishing a connection with the right vendor comes down to the questions you ask.

In our case, we didn’t talk to Lucas about our project needs until 45 minutes into the conversation. Before then, we were discussing our ideas, current events, and more. He showed us that he wasn’t just selling us a service. His team actually cared about who we were as people. Going into the project knowing that they wanted to help us succeed has made the whole thing easier.

The BairesDev team participates fully in our process, and contributes as with all members of our team. They provide solid engineers with experience and useful knowledge to handle any of the development or QA challenges we throw at them.

There is no distinction between "their team" and "ours". The BaireDev engineers are treated like all other members of our team, and contribute and relate with us as though we are a single team.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They provide top-quality resources quickly. We were able to engage with them and begin the hiring process immediately, and bring people on-board quickly. The people they provided are excellent engineers with the ability to come up to speed quickly and contribute to our team goals very quickly.

They engage throughout the onboarding process to ensure successful collaboration. They are communicative and responsive to requests, which results in a supportive partnership.
""They look for ways to enhance the partnership to encourage successes and make changes when necessary."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of operations for a certified Salesforce consulting firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We had a need for additional development resources.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev provides resource allocation services. Their team produced a group of resumes, and then we moved forward with one developer. We’re a Salesforce only consulting firm, so the developer works with Salesforce.

What is the team composition?

We started with one developer but now work with three. We recently acquired another project and reached out to onboard two additional developers.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I found them through general Google searches. Ultimately, we went with them because they aligned with our time zone more than other outsourced providers.  It’s easier to work through a solution when you can directly communicate rather than leaving each other messages.

How much have you invested with them?

For the one developer, we’ve invested a little over $75,000. BairesDev gave us a three-week trial period for the two other developers.

What is the status of this engagement?

We brought the first developer on board around November 2019 and brought the other two developers on board about six weeks ago.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When BairesDev provided us with the resumes, they included one for someone who we worked with previously. We were happy with their work, so it was a no brainer. It was easy to get them up to speed. The quality of their work’s great. We have a solid relationship.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Jira and have bi-weekly meetings when we discuss any issues to make sure that there aren’t surprises at the end of the month. They always check in to makes sure that everyone’s happy and living up to their end of the bargain.

Their communication’s good. When we needed to bring on the additional developers, I reached out to BairesDev. They got back to me quickly and moved through the process rapidly. Their team matched our urgency. It was important to us, so it was important to them.

During onboarding, they’re good partners. They coach developers in areas where we indicate a need for improvement. When you onboard a new developer, you take on risk. But BairesDev makes the process risk free.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re good partners. BairesDev always looks for ways to make the relationship work for both of us. While they’re a business, they look to collaborate. If we’re not winning, they’re not winning. They look for ways to enhance the partnership to encourage successes and make changes when necessary.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be better for us if they had a bigger bench of Salesforce developers. BairesDev specializes in different platforms and Salesforce is a small subset. They went out and hired the most recent Salesforce developers for us. They didn’t necessarily have a background with them, which was a risk.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Depending on the project, they may not have the resources that you need. They’ll help you source them but then you’re bringing on a wildcard.

**The Review** — Dec 10, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The engagement has addressed longstanding issues and corrected them. BairesDev continues to provide regular and insightful advice on how the client's systems are working. The team leverages its technical expertise to provide effective solutions. The product has reached many users. This review was updated by the client on June 5, 2020.
""I talk with the developer every day, and we work well together."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

HSD Metrics provides online surveys for our clients employees and former employees. I'm the Director or Technology.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We have a long list of issues in our proprietary system; errors and improvements that we'd like to make. When we first came to BairesDev, that list was a few hundred items. With their help, that list has shrunk considerably.

What were your goals for this project?

To continually improve and innovate the system that we and our customers use. We had addressed a number of long-standing issues, and added some very big improvements for our clients and respondents.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We searched online for possible vendors, and eventually found BairesDev. After a few conversations, and a brief trial period, we jumped right in and things have gone very well.

Describe the project in detail.

Our project is an ongoing effort, and we are continually making our system better.

What was the team composition?

1 full-time developer. Initially we had a Java developer come on and help us out with our My SQLdb needs, however our priorities then shifted to bring the front end up to date with React. BairesDev offered to replace him with a React developer to work with our in-house React lead, and collaborate with the migration and frontend design.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every couple of weeks we have code updates which are tested by our staff prior to release. Any issues with those code updates have been few and FAR between. And we have addressed several long-sought issues and improvements since working with them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. I talk with the developer every day, and we work well together.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The first developer had a number of errors. Our Project Manager jumped in and got us another developer very quickly. Our developer is a rock star!

I was impressed by their flexibility and willingness to adjust to our needs. When we were considering migrating to React, they set up a call with an expert on the subject from their team to guide us and answer any doubts we might have had. The developers that joined our team did a great job and were a great help in achieving our goals. I will definitely be using their services again when the opportunity arises.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really.

**UPDATED REVIEW**
This review was updated by Daniel Cahill (Managing Principal & CEO, HSD Metrics) on June 5, 2020. The original star ratings were: Overall - 5, Quality - 5, Schedule - 5, Cost - 4, NPS - 5. New content is below:

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO of a company that offers customized surveys that cover the whole employment spectrum, providing metrics to improve employee, team, and organizational performance. Headquartered in Kentucky, our company has about 20 employees and we serve corporate clients all around the US.

For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

When we first started with BairesDev we needed new Java programming for My SQL db, but as our needs shifted we decided to modernize the system and migrate the technology to React. With some consulting from their part we got a React engineer to come on and work with our in-house engineer and help us out with that migration.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to update our services by giving our customers a better user experience and a more modern interface. Also, by shifting to React, our surveys would be easier & faster to customize, allowing us to give a better service to our clients.

How did you select this vendor?

We searched for options for vendor partners that could help us, and after a vetting process, we selected BairesDev.

Describe the project in detail.

After a few meetings with the BairesDev team to discuss our objectives and the possibilities migrating to React would bring, we decided to move forward and onboard a React Developer to help us out. We successfully updated our client-facing frontend and obtained great results. The surveys are now more user-friendly and look more current.

What was the team composition?

Initially we had a Java developer come on and help us out with our My SQLdb needs, however our priorities then shifted to bring the front end up to date with React. BairesDev offered to replace him with a React developer to work with our in-house React lead, and collaborate with the migration and frontend design.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have been using the code from the Java developer internally and externally for close to a year now, and everything continues to work very well for us. The React-driven surveys have been greeted with overwhelmingly positive feedback, and are now being used by an ever-increasing portion of our clients.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Developer that was onboarded to our team worked closely with our in-house React lead, performing daily standup video-calls and in constant contact via slack. The team's communication was excellent overall.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by their flexibility and willingness to adjust to our needs. When we were considering migrating to React, they set up a call with an expert on the subject from their team to guide us and answer any doubts we might have had. The developers that joined our team did a great job and were a great help in achieving our goals. I will definitely be using their services again when the opportunity arises.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None - they were a pleasure to work with.

For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We hired BairesDev to augment our current engineering staff for the frontend, backend and QA teams.

What were your goals for this project?

To provide cost-effective, reliable engineers to help out our on-site teams members.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We went through an RFP process.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They continually participate in the planning and implementation phases of our products. They are in our on-call support rotation and lead teams and initatives.

What was the team composition?

We are currently working within a staff-augmentation model so we have individuals as part of larger teams. We also have one team that is currently run completely by BairesDev.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

One team that is completely run by BairesDev engineers is currently 1/3rd of the size as it was 12 months ago, with honestly, greater throughput.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Since we have been in a staff augmentation model and the resoruces being near-shore, management of the team has the same as the rest of our in-house resources.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed with the quality of the engineers and thoughtful management of the account.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I would like to see more "team" hires, than individuals, but to be honest we haven't explored that much with them yet.

**The Review** — Nov 19, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev has brought talented and experienced developers and designers to the project. Their team has been very responsive and approachable. The initial design has worked well throughout the entire project thus far. Communication has been effective.
""Developers were very responsive and easy to reach in times of need."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Prolific 1 partners with entertainment rights-holders, combining industry-leading technology with expert analysis to drive incremental revenue and attendance for live events. Our flexible solutions and innovative distribution platform deliver more fans for every event, on your terms. I act as the VP Engineering for our company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We hired BairesDev to augment our staff and for assistance in developing an internal inventory management system. The application focused on mapping events from various sources, managing ticket inventory and giving manual and automated guidance on pricing.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to automate many of the manual processes we had been doing in regarding to event mapping and inventory pricing for distribution to various distribution channels.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We selected BairesDev as they had worked with our parent company previously and we had a good relationship with them.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They designed and developed a system that pulled market based pricing changes for events that we held inventory. They also created automated processes to map our events with inventory to various distribution channel events. Together the systems functioned to keep our inventory fresh and the data allowed our pricing team members to have an accurate view of the ticket market as a whole.

What was the team composition?

The project fluctuated between 6-10 team members. We had an internal database administrator and project manager although BairesDev did initially provide a project manager as well. We began with a designer to help us get the look and feel templates created and then proceeded with the front-end and back-end developers and one tech lead.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our solution has been in production for the last several months and we have been working to increase performance and reduce the impact of bugs/issues. We are targeting January 1 2020 as a fully functioning solution with increased performance and limited bugs/issues.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We began the project with a hired BairesDev project manager. We had our own internal project manager too so we eventually rolled off the hired project manager once the project was up and running smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

BairesDev was well represented with some talented and experienced developers. The designer was very good and delivered the templates in a timely and efficient manner. The initial design worked well throughout the entire project. Developers were very responsive and easy to reach in times of need. Our having a daily call helped facilitate effective communication.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There seemed to be very little overlap in technical skills. This was both good and bad in that each developer would be responsible for their area of the application (algorhythm, automated processes, build/deployment, etc.) . This worked well to separate the developer's effort but would occasionally slow us down when one specific area needed a lot of attention and we were dependent on the single developer doing much of the work for this area of the application.

**The Review** — Nov 5, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The team at BairesDev continues providing their development expertise. Their customer service approach led to a high-quality product. They're talented and hardworking. They're also receptive to feedback.
""I was thrilled at how closely they worked with us to provide a great outcome."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Our company develops software to provide timely responses of available mortgage products and pricing to borrowers looking for a loan. It optimizes the collection of this information from various providers, then returns consolidated results to users of the system.

I am in charge of all Software Architecture and Development.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We hired BairesDev to provide 2 teams to work on various parts of our overall solution. These teams would function as co-equal teams alongside the domestic development teams.

What were your goals for this project?

I wanted to double my development capacity for two key areas of our product offering. There were strategic opportunities to increase our feature output to our clients, and hiring additional teams allow us to accelerate our output.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I went through a process of identifying multiple, potential offshore partners to work with our domestic staff. One of my prime objectives was to find a partner that could quickly staff 2 teams with a high level of talent.

During the due diligence process, it was clear that BairesDev would be able to meet this need and were able to concretely demonstrate their ability to do so compared to the other potential vendors.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

One team designed, developed and released software to integrate two disparate solutions owned by Optimal Blue to provide end users with a better experience.

The other team participated in the redesign and implementation of how users and services authenticate against Optimal Blue solutions, improving the security profile of our applications.

What was the team composition?

We employed 7 developers and 2 QA analysts. At times we have added additional developers to supplement the current staff and meet aggressive deadlines. We also have a project manager from BairesDev who works with the team to ensure ongoing deliveries are met in a timely fashion.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We have been able to continue with feature development for one of our key solutions, while simultaneously integrating two of our solutions. Without BairesDev staff, one or the other of these key initiatives would not be complete. Our ability to deliver more with BairesDev increases client satisfaction and increases our competitiveness in the marketplace.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Day to day management of the project was handled by domestic development managers and business analysts. This was chosen to ensure timely feedback on work in-process, and to make sure the teams from BairesDev understand the critical nature of the work they provide to the overall success of Optimal Blue.

A BairesDev project manager also interacts with the team on a regular basis to ensure the teams are satisfied with the level of engagement and as a way for BairesDev employees to feel comfortable providing feedback to Optimal Blue.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They did what they said they would do - they helped us quickly on-board two very talented teams of individuals. I found it highly unusual they were able to follow through so quickly as I always expect the sales cycle might exaggerate what will be delivered once a contract is signed. I was thrilled at how closely they worked with us to provide a great outcome.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Any areas of concern or improvement are communicated to BairesDev, and they always respond promptly to address those areas.

**The Review** — Oct 30, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: While the project is still ongoing, the web application has met the expectations of the internal team. BairesDev establishes a smooth workflow through effective communication and project management skills. The team is collaborative and honest.
""The most impressive thing about them is how fast they can find the best possible candidate for your specific needs."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Our platform is a solution to one of the key problems many enterprises that rely on farm-source data face: recording, tracking, and reporting of data from many locations, various stakeholders, and often on paper or in Excel spreadsheets. Facing decreasing margins and increasing expectations for raw materials transparency, businesses that rely on agriculture for business success are at risk using this disjointed, antiquated approach to data collection because it lacks efficiency, timeliness, accuracy, and security. I am one of the engineering managers at CropTrak.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We hire BairesDev to provide web developers to fulfill our need for .Net MVC and WebForms developers for our web team.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed to put together a new version of our web application while transitioning between WebForms and MVC. The goal was to deliver a mix between technologies that seemed transition-less to our customers, focusing on overall improvements across the web application.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I did some research, and called several outsourcing companies. Almost none of them provide outstanding quality, good rate prices and a very flexible hiring process.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

We hired their developers to be part of my team, as if they were working with us, so great team skills were also needed. They went though our regular training, and immediately after planning they were able to deliver incredible quality backend and frontend code with little direction.

What was the team composition?

The web team has about 6 people, two web developers and UX/UI specialist from BairesDev, and three local developers in our offices. We are work on the same project using a very flexible version of Agile regardless of geographical location.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our new web effort is still on the works at the moment but we are going to deliver on time, probably a couple of weeks early. Delivering software on time and with good feedback from QA, the board of directors and customers is a great achievement for a small company.

In part, because of the "on time" delivery, we decided to extend the contract to at least the end of 2020 to work on the next web version of our application. Honestly, it is hard to find quality developers in non-major cities.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Great communication overall, I was able to talk to BairesDev at any time, Skype, email, calls whatever I needed. I took the lead of the team, so I was in charge of the management of the developers. On the BairesDev side, there was a project manager and also and account manager. Great people both, and with excellent English skills.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about them is how fast they can find the best possible candidate for your specific needs. Two weeks or less. Secondly, I found that the hiring process is easy, fast and reliable.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I don't think so. My experience with BairesDev was and still is great. As a side note for us, the people hiring BairesDev, do a little investigation about the software development culture in South America, and as long as you are willing to understand that there are differences between US developers and developers in South America, BairesDev's developers will delivery quality software on time.

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev fills positions within 1–2 weeks with top-notch resources. Their selection process yields consistently talented individuals who integrate well with the post requirements and existing team. Their responsiveness and level of organization stand out.
""The speed that BairesDev can staff high-quality individuals into the positions we need is unparalleled."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a senior associate for a management consulting firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We needed a development team that provides us with engineering services. BairesDev supports the accelerated growth of a new product line and making some business deadlines we set for ourselves.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev supplies us with resources specialized in a range of object-oriented programming languages, including Java, Go, and JavaScript. Their team can quickly identify talent and fill in our needs. These roles include design, front- and backend development, quality assurance, documentation, DevOps, and machine learning.

They have supplied talent and onboarded them into those positions within 1–2 weeks. BairesDev’ resources support us in multiple departments, such as setting up continuous integration and implement our continuous development pipelines. We also use Jenkins, Chef, and Puppet to manage our project and design.

What is the team composition?

We currently have a 21-person team.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

We tasked one of our business partners with helping us identify potential offshore and nearshore development teams that could meet the stringent requirements we have for product development. We interviewed 10 different companies, and BairesDev was considered one of the best candidates. We did a formal solicitation process, and they came out with the best proposal for what we needed. As a result, we eventually chose them.

What is the status of this engagement?

The collaboration started in February 2019 and is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Not only is BairesDev extremely quick about filling our open positions, but they’ve also had an extremely high success rate in finding talent that performs to our standards and fits our team. The resources have a high level of expertise, great English language proficiency, and excellent team-building skills. Despite being a few time zones away from where we operate, BairesDev’s team can flex their schedules to work with our normal hours of business.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

BairesDev has an exceptionally strong project management culture. They provide several roles to manage our account. We work with some individuals on the account management and customer success side. We also have an engagement manager and Scrum master who we meet with regularly to provide the broad-level requirements. They’ll then translate that into a detailed list of tasks that the BairesDev team needs to accomplish in each sprint. They’re well-organized, and they respond quickly and handle any requests if we need to change anything.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The speed that BairesDev can staff high-quality individuals into the positions we need is unparalleled. I haven’t run across any other company that can provide resources as quickly or with the level of quality that BairesDev can supply.
Are there any areas they could improve?

As with any staff augmentation arrangement, there will always be staff that isn’t up to the challenge. We had some resource early on that didn’t quite meet our expectations.

However, the way BairesDev handled this was a strength. Their team worked with each resource to mitigate the situation and ended up finding another candidate to fill in the position. They communicated with us from start to finish about our options and were highly responsive throughout the process. The resources they selected wound up being a successful fit.

**The Review** — Aug 22, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev’s performance met expectations across the board. The team distinguishes themselves by their commitment to hiring high-quality resources.
"“The main factor that sold me on them was our mutual alignment on business practices.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Hans & Company. We provide consulting services to large Fortune 500 companies, typically around software development, integration, testing, and QA to name a few. By drawing from our global network of partners and subcontractors, we’re able to be more nimble when delivering services.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

One of our clients needed to quickly build an internal application for their customers, which were other large-scale companies. The development was behind schedule, so I brought in BairesDev as extra horsepower to expedite the project.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev helped develop an enterprise-level e-commerce application. Customers could use the app to buy products, services, and equipment on a large scale.

What is the team composition?

They had a business analyst, a project manager, and five software engineers.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I found BairesDev while searching on Google. They appeared on a number of lists for recommended near-shore companies, so I gave them a call. They replied quickly, and we went through an interview process.

The main factor that sold me on them was our mutual alignment on business practices. Both of us viewed doing business the same way, so we eventually struck a contract together.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $150,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Their work lasted from May–August 2019, so about three months.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s hard to attribute specific metrics to BairesDev since they were one of three subcontracted teams. Likewise, I don’t have any insights into product usage, but I do know that more features are being developed every month.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed as expected. We mostly communicated over Skype, email, phone, and conference lines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their vetting of candidates and standards for who can join the company seem to be more stringent than others.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, the work was satisfactory.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don't choose them based on price. Choose them for what you're trying to solve and see if they can provide the best solution.

"“The project management team was aggressive in contacting us to make sure we were happy with the services we were receiving.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CTO at Swordpoint Services LLC. We work out of Atlanta, Georgia.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We were looking for app developers who could enhance an existing app we have in the field.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

For the bulk of the project, we were working with one of their developers who were responsible for app and API development for our iOS and Android product. To complete the project, they used Xamarin and C#.

What is the team composition?

At some points, we had 2–3 developers working on the project, but we typically had a single developer at our disposal.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I received their information from a friend and colleague who used their services before.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $110,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The collaboration lasted from October 2018–August 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since our work started with them, we’ve been able to implement about eight minor version upgrades and one major upgrade to the app.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

They used Trello to manage the development work, and that was great for us. Their team improved our code source management system, so collaborating with multiple developers is simple. The work they’ve done has been outstanding from the beginning.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project management team was aggressive in contacting us to make sure we were happy with the services we were receiving. That was quite refreshing. Additionally, the developer they assigned us was very bright, able to refine and improve upon the process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re pretty expensive compared to other offshore developers I’ve seen, but the quality of work is much better.

**Feedback Summary**: Despite a few technical difficulties, BairesDev created a quality mobile product. Their efficient workflow supplemented their professional management style. Customers can expect a skilled and responsive team of developers.
""Their team is tech-savvy, meeting all of the requirements."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of Tackzee, a mobile app for taxis on the island of Nantucket.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We hired BairesDev to build mobile applications for the drivers and consumers.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They used a .NET framework, developing the iOS and Android apps using Xamarin and a SQL server.

What is the team composition?

At the height of the engagement, we had five developers, a project manager, and a couple of QA testers.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I used them previously at another company, so I knew what to expect when engaging with their team.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent roughly $400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with BairesDev from October 2017–2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Overall, BairesDev did a good job. There are issues to be expected during projects like this. Some quality issues could be fixed. For example, someone recently was double charged. We expedited some of the work and may have cut corners to get it finished as fast as possible, so I wouldn’t necessarily blame them. I pushed them pretty hard. There are some things I expect any developer could find during a simple testing phase, so that was a little disappointing, but I was happy with them.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

Our project management tools were Jira and Flowdock. The assigned project manager was the strongest one I’ve ever worked within the last 20 years. She was phenomenal, doing her best to meet my expectations. I had no problems with the management aspect.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I previously mentioned their excellent project management style, but ultimately, BairesDev delivered what I had asked them to build. Their team is tech-savvy, meeting all of the requirements. I’m delighted with their work product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Some of the communications we had with the tech lead could’ve been better. If I report an issue, I expect that the person would go in and not go into all the work that they have to do. I understand that it takes time to investigate it, so I don’t need to be told that. I expect a tech lead to go beyond the core specifications and fill in the gaps. That would be my only critique.

"“Repeat business is the best testament to a team’s ability to perform, and I have no hesitations hiring them again.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the product and R&D manager for Rolls-Royce Process Automation and Monitoring Systems (PAMS). Our primary business area is the installation and maintenance of plant process computer systems at nuclear power plants.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

Primarily driven by cybersecurity concerns within the nuclear industry, we have significantly changed the architecture of our system over the past 5-6 years. Implementing some of the requirements to comply with new regulations required us to isolate our systems even further. In practice, this made data availability for support staff members at nuclear sites either impossible or highly restricted.

In early 2018, I began the process of determining whether we could build the mobile app in-house or if we needed external support. After investigating the capabilities within our organization for a couple of months, I determined we could manage the backend and web service. We needed help with the frontend because we lack those development skills internally.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We modified our architecture with the added capability of delivering real-time data we collect in the plant to support staff. Employees included within the envelope of secure users can access data on safe operations of the plant and environmental protection through a mobile app to help the operational staff produce power. Our team’s engineers built a RESTful-based API and used JSON to transfer information back and forth from the web service.

I brought BairesDev on to help us build the frontend of a mobile app that consumes data sent from our web service. We’re developing it to support both Android and iOS. There is a relatively small amount of native code for each platform. The bulk of the app runs on a progressive web app (PWA) with a common code baseline for both platforms

We started with a discovery kickoff that lasted two weeks. When they came to our offices, we sat down together to hash out the project. I provided exact requirements. We discussed the functionality and mapped each feature back to the scoping document I had created. After we broke the project down, we entered each aspect into Jira.

Our biggest technical challenge was deploying push notifications built using Firebase under the iOS platform. Apple is very particular and restrictive about how they allow companies to send users notifications to their devices.

What is the team composition?

The team includes a lead developer, a supporting developer, a scrum master, a UX designer, and a QA person. I also interact with a business development manager on a regular basis and speak with other marketing resources periodically as well.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I conducted various Google searches and asked my contacts in the industry which kinds of resources they had used to build mobile apps. For a while, I couldn’t find any companies that fit the bill for us until the CEO of BairesDev sent me a very timely email.

Another company contacted me and I found two other potential candidates around the same time. During a two-month evaluation process, I wrote out scoping document to send to the four vendors. I held various phone conversations with each one and quickly eliminated two.

Based on our discussions and their references, BairesDev was clearly the most experienced in the areas that I wanted to build the frontend to address. They were more competent than the other companies and had already built an enterprise-scale mobile app. I wanted to leverage the expertise that they brought to the table and liked their overall approach.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $125,000-$150,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2019, and the work is ongoing.  Our current plan is to continue using BairesDev for version two of our mobile app. We are already in negotiations about a follow-on project with another group in our organization that I’ll be helping to facilitate. We hope to kick that off sometime this fall.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BairesDev has helped us make a lot of progress in a short amount of time. We’ve worked really well together as a cohesive group. Every member of their team has been extremely professional and fully met my expectations.

The quality of everyone they’ve assigned to our project has met or exceeded my expectations. In particular, the lead developer is awesome. He’s a great person and is highly knowledgeable. Both developers are skilled and have deep knowledge in our primary areas of interest.

The UX designer did an amazing job of getting us started with the wireframes. He was very easy to work with and receptive to all my feedback. The QA representative excelled in their role, as well. He has been my primary contact for every issue I found or technical concern I've had.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

BairesDev has implemented a top-down agile methodology flawlessly. Their solid understanding of the process really shows in the results. We hold daily standups and use Slack for team communication. They helped us ensure we set everything up during the discovery phase as we planned out the entire project.

The project consisted of six sprints, and BairesDev has worked extremely hard to complete all the assigned tasks in each one. The final sprint was for user acceptance testing. As simulator we run of the nuclear plant provides the data from the web service we use for the mobile app development. Eventually, we will use Jenkins and a production-like environment to deploy our product to customers.

The toolset they introduced me to has been phenomenal. We use Jira to track all the epics and user stories, then break everything down into sub-tasks. They also use an estimation tool. We’re using GitHub to store all our code. They’ve done a great job of keeping the latest and greatest code in the repositories I set up, and they’re very knowledgeable about accessing VMs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BairesDev is a team of hard workers. Their level of responsiveness has been outstanding. Every time I have a question, they answer me instantly. Their attention to detail has exceeded my expectations.

They’ve listened carefully and been very receptive during our discussions.  BairesDev helps us find out the most important aspects to emphasize so we could allocate our attention appropriately.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The language barrier had posed some minor difficulties since we speak different languages natively. We’ve had some difficulty around technical concepts at times, but communication has been great overall. Exchanging ideas in Slack seems to come across more clearly than in verbal conversations.

**Feedback Summary**: The expert resources BairesDev provided have contributed invaluable skill, and insight to forward the in-house team's development efforts and extend their knowledge base. They secured two specialists within a rapid turnaround time. As a company, they offered outstanding flexibility.
""We would definitely go back to them again if we were looking for additional help."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the director of people operations at my company, Sidetracker. We have a project and asset management platform and software solution.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

BairesDev helps us find development talent, primarily in Mexico.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev helped us fill two roles for a developer and QA tester on very short notice. The mobile developer they found for us has worked as a regular part of our team for the better part of 18 months. We didn't hire them for a specific project. Instead, they have contributed to our team's efforts on a daily basis.

From the QA side, we had some challenges filling roles here in the US because it's such a competitive market. BairesDev was able to source people who had our desired skills and background within a matter of a week or two. The quick turnaround so far has been a strong positive.

What is the team composition?

BairesDev helped us augment our staff with two contracted specialists, one for development and the other for QA testing.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

The CTO started the initial conversation, so I don't know what evaluation criteria he used. From my perspective, we had success with the initial hire for mobile development work. Since we were happy with that engagement, we went to them again to try to find someone who could fit our QA role.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working together since the fall of 2017 and have an active ongoing collaboration.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The resources BairesDev sourced for us have made significant contributions both from a development and expertise standpoint. Their skill level and experience have really raised the level of knowledge on our team.

BairesDev has helped us augment our onshore development capabilities. Both of the resources they found us have been great assets to the team. We had a hard time trying to fill these roles ourselves. It would have taken us much longer to get our mobile app out the door without their help.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

The engineering team had direct interaction with the resources BairesDev assigned us, so I can't speak to the project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BairesDev was a flexible company to work with. We appreciate their ability to jump in and find people quickly for us. We asked them to accommodate us when a few things happened, and they were happy to. We would definitely go back to them again if we were looking for additional help.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not at this time.

**The Review** — Mar 21, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The system has streamlined a document submittal process, reducing server overhead and increasing productivity. BairesDev is a communicative and knowledgeable offshore partner. They are incredibly engaged and deliver top-tier results.
"“BairesDev was incredibly accommodating of the project’s broad and often unclear attributes.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work in business development at PatraCompany, a digital marketing and video firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We wanted to streamline one of our client’s complex and time-consuming bidding process by building a submittal system. More specifically, whenever client bid for large-scale jobs, they had to provide all physical supporting documents for the products that they were bidding to sell. This included technical documentation, specs, safety information, and other supporting documentation. My company needed to outsource development talent to build the submittal system.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

At the start of the project, a database engineer from BairesDev conducted comparative performance testing. The engineer tested a few different models and storage types. Once we chose the database type and architecture, BairesDev’s developer implemented the structure. The system quickly pulls data from the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) database. The system then assembles the data into a PDF document, which contains only the required information and company branding.

BairesDev has also built an administrative database. They have proposed potential applications for other ways to deploy this easily accessible data in our client’s business. The vendor continues to perform testing and bug fixes.

What is the team composition?

My team has worked with a database engineer and a developer.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I had previously communicated with BairesDev about other projects that never panned out. For this project, we considered a few different vendors. We chose BairesDev based on their high-level technical knowledge and good reviews. Other determining factors were that they communicated in fluent English, were within the same time zone, and treated their employees with respect. We also wanted to build a long-term, as-needed partnership, and BairesDev seemed like the right offshore vendor for this.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in July 2017 and is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because BairesDev has been developing a custom product, there are not many comparative metrics available. However, the quality of the product and their work has been excellent. For instance, their comparative performance testing guided us toward the optimal database type and architecture, which has reduced server overhead and increased document production rates.

The project is in the testing phase, but we have continued to engage BairesDev because we are so satisfied with their development work. Customer feedback has been outstanding.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a few different in-house systems that we track notes in, but we have not implemented a specific project management software. BairesDev has been very flexible about how we manage the workflow between our teams. An appointed account manager checks in often. They meet deadlines and communicate effectively. Their team is professional, responsive, and qualified.

What did you find most impressive about them?

My company had a very specific dataset that we needed to work the project around, but the scope of the project was undefined. In my experience, developers and engineers generally want a clearly defined set of requirements and expectations. BairesDev has been incredibly accommodating of the project’s broad and often unclear attributes. They have provided critical counsel that has guided the whole project. This level of commitment is remarkable and hard to come by. Overall, BairesDev has been dedicated to producing the highest-quality work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not in this particular case. I have no complaints about either of the BairesDev team members we worked with.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the director of platform engineering for Celmatix, we combine data science and genomics to create solutions focused on fertility potential.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire BairesDev?

We hired BairesDev to support our internal team’s development efforts. We were building a product called Polaris, which is a SaaS platform.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a team to provide support in creating our primary product.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

My company had been working with BairesDev before I was hired.

Describe the project in detail.

BairesDev supported our team in developing our SaaS platform. Within the product, they built the ability for data collection and predictive analytics. In addition to this, their team helped us create other platforms for our various business needs. They created a site to help us collect patient’s consent as part of a research study and built an internal tool to improve our testing workflow.

What was the team composition?

Initially, they provided two engineers to augment our team of eight. Later in the project, the number reduced to one teammate to fit our needs.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our platform is highly improved thanks to BairesDev’s support. They successfully built systems that enhance our company.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They were available over Slack at all times. We had regular meetings and they fully integrated themselves with our team. They had an exemplary approach to the work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

BairesDev provided a team of hardworking, skilled engineers and they were critical for our success. The level of their insight was superior to others in the market.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Occasionally, around holidays or time-off, there were minor miscommunications between our teams. This wasn’t a significant issue since we had direct contact with the engineers, but those specific instances could have been improved.

**Feedback Summary**: The quality of tests has improved and the defect capture rate is higher. Working quickly and efficiently, BairesDev delivers exceptional results, while their professionalism and ability to provide all the necessary resources made them a reliable partner.
"“They're willing to go above and beyond the contracted hours to meet our needs.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm a QA and release manager at an online education and certification company for the outdoor gaming industry. We provide hunting, fishing, and boating education as well as certification in many outdoor recreational activities.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We were using another offshore testing company, but we weren't getting the quality that we needed. We started looking for a new vendor to provide QA services for us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us build out some of our automation test suites and our performance testing. They're currently working on web-based testing. They look at user stories and develop tests based on the expectations defined in the stories, so they handle the full end-to-end functional testing for us. We use SQL and agile methodology, but all of BairesDev’s resources are highly experienced with various types of testing.

What is the team composition?

We work with three members of their team.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

We were specifically looking for a Latin American company because they're in the same time zone as we are. We work with agile methodology and need instant communication between our QA team and our development team, so having somebody in the same time zone works a lot better. I talked to their sales representative and liked their approach, so I decided to give them a chance.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2017 and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've seen a lot better coverage on the tests and defect capture rate has increased. It's a collaborative effort from the QA team as a whole, but the majority of the team is with BairesDev.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We replaced a team of five with a team of two people from BairesDev and they manage the same workload very effectively. They're in the same time zone, so they're able to respond almost instantly. Also, they've met all of our deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're willing to go above and beyond the contracted hours to meet our needs. Besides, they're very knowledgeable and turn things around quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They're a smaller company and it might take them some time to find the available resource. But they've always found the resources that we requested and met our needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about your requirements and what you're looking for, and they’ll do high-quality work for you. Some less expensive companies rarely provide the same quality and value in return on investment. South American market is slightly more expensive than some other offshore markets, but don't rule them out because of that.

**The Review** — Dec 11, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev sources highly skilled and carefully tailored candidates to augment the in-house team. They offer an array of best-in-class options to consider. The developers collaborate seamlessly using the Agile method. Their efficiency and technical acumen empower the client to scale with ease.
"“BairesDev helps us accomplish more work within a shorter timeframe than we ever could before.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CTO of Exscribe Incorporated, a medical records software vendor. Our company is based in the US and has been in business since about 2001. The flagship product we offer is an electronic health records application that we market to orthopedic practices nationwide.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

Our primary goal was staff augmentation. We wanted to be able to work on a larger number of projects at the same time. Unfortunately, we’d tried working with multiple teams beforehand that proved ineffective. As a small company, we needed a capable partner who could scale our development resources up and out when necessary.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Feeling wary initially based on our experiences with other contractors, we started our off with a proof of concept project to make sure we felt comfortable working with BairesDev. During this initial endeavor, they proved their merit. Both their company itself and the engineers they provided were the right matches for us.

This particular collaboration focused on web development. Angular and Node.js were the primary technical skills we requested, but BairesDev can find resources for any type of development we need.

At this point, we're expanding our partnership for the next quarter. We will source a greater number of resources through BairesDev including QA engineers who can perform web-based automated end-to-end testing.

What is the team composition?

BairesDev assigned three resources to our project. We work with a developer, an account manager, and a project manager who checks in every two weeks from their team.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

After working with several unsuccessful vendors in the past, we really wanted to find the right fit this time. BairesDev was quick to find and turn around high-quality candidates. They were very flexible about our collaboration and offered several options for the developers we contracted.

How much have you invested with them?

Many intangible factors aren't included in the cost, including the time we spent in meetings and my personal working hours. Since we purposefully integrated BairesDev within our team, certain variables are difficult to capture.

What is the status of this engagement?

We first came across a sales representative from BairesDev earlier this year. Based on our email correspondence, we started working together in August 2018. We have an ongoing partnership.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were fully satisfied with both BairesDev as a development firm and the individual resources they provided. They enable us to further our goals by increasing the number of projects we can tackle simultaneously. We've been impressed by the timeliness and reliability we've seen from the individuals on their team.

BairesDev helps us accomplish more work within a shorter timeframe than we ever could before. The caliber of their work has been consistently great. Since poor quality was a problem we frequently had with previous vendors, this was an important strength. As we move forward, we’re continuing to scale up our efforts together.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

BairesDev is very flexible about the way we work together. We found it more effective to integrate their resources into our internal teams rather than send them specifications to build alone and show us a few weeks later.

The developers participate in our daily standups as part of an Agile process. We used Zoom for communication and meetings with the account manager and project manager. The language discrepancy didn’t pose any challenges.

BairesDev has met all of our expectations and stuck to the deadlines. The developers were open to using whatever technology we use. Once we set them up on our Microsoft Teams account, they quickly adapted to our internal processes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BairesDev performed especially well with identifying the exact type of candidates we wanted instead of sending us irrelevant options. They zeroed in on the specific resources we needed and always proposed people who were a good fit. Additionally, we appreciated their flexibility and quick pace.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't have any criticisms at this time. There are always areas for improvement, but we've been very pleased with our engagement and interactions with BairesDev. In fact, we're expanding our partnership as a result.

They go above and beyond to meet all needs, while their proactive approach and responsiveness to feedback made them an integral part of the team.
"“Their developers are able to integrate quickly and efficiently into any project… .”

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the director of operations at a software consulting firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We were working on the projects that required many creative and engineering solutions, so we needed more developers to staff our teams.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They're using React, .NET Framework, Angular, Sitecore, and other technologies to help us build customer software. They always understand exactly what we're asking of them and provide valuable recommendations, especially when we leave gaps in our requirements. Also, they've helped us optimize some of our practices, such as QA.

What is the team composition?

They've assigned about 20 developers to our projects.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

They were referred to us. It's convenient for us to work with a company in Latin America because we share the same hours and have the ability to talk to their team during the business hours.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2016 and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their developers are able to integrate quickly and efficiently into any project as if they've always been a part of our team. We can spend less time building detailed requirements and getting them on board with the project, which makes the process more effective.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We don't use them for project management, but they're doing a great job from a communications standpoint. We use Slack, Jira, and email to stay in touch. They're very responsive and understand exactly what we need.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're able to provide the resources we need–whether it's a React developer or a Sitecore developer–as soon as we ask them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Their team members are able to work as an integral part of your team. If you're looking for someone to work with a very limited set of requirements, you won't be taking full advantage of their capacity. They can recommend the things that are beyond the specifics that you request and their ideas will occasionally be better than yours.

**The Review** — Oct 5, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Their efforts have helped significantly boost company growth over the past five years, through mobile-responsive, modern, and easy-to-use apps. BairesDev stands out with their effective communication, competitive prices, and wide range of talent, all of which contribute to a prolific partnership.
""I’ve been very happy with what they deliver."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CIO for a mechanical subcontractor. We do plumbing, HVAC, and electrical installation in new residential construction spaces. We have a lot of custom software that we’ve written to help us manage labor and material efficiently.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We needed staff augmentation.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided developers to help us improve our custom software. We’re an ASP.NET shop that uses MySQL databases, Vue.js, Angular, and MVC. Our main application is in WinForms, which is an older ASP technology, but it’s something BairesDev is able to support. It’s a big deal for us to find someone that can still work in something like that. They also help us with the API that we’ve created.

We interact a lot with other applications like Google or WorldAPP, for which we’ve had to create apps that can go through and pull data. Overall, BairesDev has been able to help us to gather data from different systems and bring it into our main system.

This summer, we had some specific projects for our warehousing department. Our material in the construction industry represents 40% of our revenue. We required a better way for managing that material, so we hired one of their developers for a 10-week period. He came in, went into our systems, and revised and wrote new forms, tables, APIs, processes, and reports. He carefully examined and improved the way we track our data.

What is the team composition?

They have a salesperson and a project manager that work with me. They’ve assigned a sufficient amount of resources to my project, and if I have a problem with one of the developers, I reach out to their project manager, who handles it for me. I’ve worked with five or six of their developers over the years, but have only had a max of three at the same time. The very first one that I hired through them is still part of my staff.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

I found them on LinkedIn. I had previously worked with a firm like theirs in South America, so I was familiar with their style. I was impressed with them from talking with their sales team and their CEO about their rates and what they could do. The rate I pay them is a lot less than what I would pay a full-time developer here.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested between $50,000–$199,999.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together at the end of 2014 and the collaboration is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Over the past five years, our development team has helped a company of only 100 employees with a single app written in very old technology with an average database scheme grow into a company of over 300 employees. They’ve built many robust apps that are responsive, mobile friendly, and accessible, which helped the company become more modernized.

Furthermore, we’ve done a good job of getting the data that our field employees need on time and where they need it.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m absolutely pleased with their communication. They’ve worked with the project management software I use, which is Basecamp or Asana. BairesDev’s staff communicate just as well, if not better than my in-house developers. We have daily stand-up meetings with our team and a monthly check-in with their sales and project management team, which really adds a lot of value.

I’ve worked with offshore and nearshore contractors, and it’s a huge win for us to work with a team that we don’t have to wait for 10 hours to reach. Another thing I really like about our arrangement is that they thought of everything, going as far as to include a rate in our contract for bringing one of their developers on site in case we need to.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their key strengths include their diversity and portfolio. Other companies are successful, but they don’t have access to a wide range of developers. If you need someone that can write Android programs and also do HTML markup, BairesDev can handle it.

The second full-time hire we made with them was when we transitioned from using a mom-and-pop accounting package to full-blown SQL driven ERP software. They actually had a developer that could work with that tool. Even though he only worked with it a little bit, he at least had some knowledge. We were able to get him for $150 less per hour than if we had hired another company to consult and do the reports.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I would suggest that they train their developers further, but maybe this goes on without my knowledge. I don’t know how much they’re pouring into their staff, but I would love it if they were constantly adding skills to get better.

**The Review** — Sep 21, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev provides high-quality development services and resources. Their team is not only extremely responsive and flexible to client needs, but they're also thorough and proactive about catching bugs in a fast-paced environment. This allows the company to respond to customers rapidly.
"“BairesDev provides reliable, top-notch development support on a daily basis.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the software development manager for a data services solution company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We decided to leverage some of the tools we had been using internally and start offering them to our customers and partners, so we needed to rapidly build up a development team that could start working on an externally-facing toolset.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

BairesDev provided additional developers to work on three components of our platform: the backend, frontend, and QA. In addition to helping our team design the UI/UX, they helped us integrate APIs and test the platform. The technology stack included Groovy, Grails, MySQL, jQuery, and Selenium.

What is the team composition?

We work with a team of about 10 developers.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

The relationship had started before I joined my company, but I significantly increased the number of resources we hired from their team. I was happy to continue working with them because they were already familiar with our work and culture. They've been very understanding of the types of resources we were looking for both from a security and technical perspective.

How much have you invested with them?

Our resources cost anywhere from $5,400–$6,000 per month, so we probably spend up to $60,000 per month in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working together since January 2015.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BairesDev provides reliable, top-notch development support on a daily basis. If it weren't for their team, we wouldn't be able to do nearly as much as we have been over the last few years.

Not only do they provide basic development services, but they also help us sustain and assist in engineering support for our clients. They're great at catching and fixing bugs, especially when we rush things through. Thanks to this support, we're able to react quickly to our clients' needs.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

I'm very pleased with their communication overall. They've been flexible and adapted to using tools we prefer, such as Slack, and are proactive about keeping an updated calendar listing the availability of all the developers we work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very good at finding the right resources at any given time, depending on the role of the person we're looking for. They're also very responsive; it's rare that I ever have to follow up with them on anything.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the beginning, they weren't as good about finding the right resources for certain aspects of work, but they've since learned very quickly how to select the best people for the task at hand.

**The Review** — Nov 27, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Though still in the beginning stages, the team is able to source candidates transparently and in very good time. The team runs on Atlassian products and the project manager and designers provide a high level of professionalism and knowledge, integrating themselves well as part of the existing team.
"“[W]e were very happy with the expertise and the fundamentals that [they] brought to the table.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO [chief operating officer] of Howzbout, a startup company in Chicago. We are producing an application that has 2 aspects to it. A B2C consumer application is meant to take the indecision out of activity planning, with a social and communication twist. On the B2B side, it’s a performance marketing advertising platform where merchants can advertise performance models.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

The initial challenge was to define a strategy for staff augmentation, primarily to find resources more quickly from a market perspective and also lower costs compared to what we get here local to Chicago.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We went through a couple of different plans and met it out to get the initial prototype built from a screen perspective. We’re in the midst right now of interviewing a developer and engineering candidates to actually build the prototype. It’s extremely early in the development. In addition to fundraising, we’re also in the process of building screens and the concept, which is where the UX [user experience] designer comes in. We’re not physically producing code yet.

From a design perspective, we’re using an app called Principle to display a lot of the screens. Much of the design and the development, we’ve used a product called Sketch App. We also leveraged several Google products like Drive.

For development, it will be an open source stack, mostly in languages like React on the frontend, NodeJS in the middle tier, and then MySQL on the backend and probably some Java. There’s going to be specific developer skillsets in Swift, which is the iOS development language, and Android for the Android mobile app.

What is the team dynamic?

We’ve interacted with 7–8 people all with different competencies. All the way from Ignacio [CEO, BairesDev] to a full-time UX designer, as well as a part-time project manager who handles some of the back office work. We spoke to a couple of them more frequently than the rest.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

A former colleague of mine, who is the VP of engineering at a company in San Francisco, has a staff of 30–40 in BairesDev. He spoke very highly of Ignacio and the entire company and walked me through their value proposition and a number of reasons why they have such an investment with BairesDev. Several of his points were differentiators to me in terms of other shops I’ve worked with in the past. When the opportunity came to start this company, and start building an application, they were one of the first people I called.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $60,000–$70,000 in 3–4 months. We have a budget going into the next 2 years somewhere around $500,000–$750,000 in development costs.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2017 and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve been very happy with the results. The speed to market on getting resources was as fast as I thought it would be. It exceeded my expectations. We had a very transparent process of getting resumes and were able to communicate directly and interview the candidates.

We had our UX designer participating in things even outside of what he typically does. He would take our screens and prototypes and do some user testing with them. We don’t have the results from a functioning product to know that quality, but from a UX designer perspective, we’re very happy with the work completed. Ultimately, we’re going to know if it was successful when and if we’re able to raise the money to build it. The kind of screens and the prototype that they built will be kind of front and center in that process; it could be a big part of the equation in terms of success or failure where we go.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We ran the whole team on Atlassian products, which is the combination of JIRA and HipChat for communication. We gave them access to our email as well. I had some issues communicating with some candidates that we would interview in the process. We were able to identify those quickly and found candidates that were a better fit from a communication perspective. Once the project was up and running, we were very happy with the expertise and the fundamentals that the project manager and the UX designer brought to the table. They are very fluent in running projects and how to communicate back and forth to stakeholders on a recurring and iterative basis so that there’s no long periods of time without feedback and detail and questions. We’re always in the loop on the status of the project.

The timezone local to Chicago with English speaking resources was also a huge value-add. They don’t treat themselves as an offshore or outsource development shop. They really pitch themselves as augmentation that is part of the team, the product, and the culture.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the primary motivators and differentiators that I saw was their culture that they are team members of ours. I have not seen that in my career working with other offshore development shop models. That and the fact that we’re allowed to interview and screen the candidates, has been great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They tend to get a lot of candidates from all over South America. A good chunk of the people that we interviewed and talked to seemed to be working from home. We don’t have any problems with that, but it caused a lot of requirements to communicate strictly over a voice over IP protocol. We were doing a lot of interviews over Skype, for which I needed to be on a hard-wired phone. Oftentimes, I don’t think that shop was set up to do that and they were potentially reluctant to let them use their mobile phones. At times, there was a little bit of breakdown in terms of the quality of those conversations because we were using things like Skype on older, different phones, and operating systems. That’s the only improvement I can point to.

**The Review** — Nov 14, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev’s flexible developers integrated quickly with the internal team, and they continue to adhere to timelines while remaining responsive. Their ability to consistently find talented, accurate resources stems from their thorough recruitment process.
"“They are able to meet all of our expectations while maintaining the flow of the relationship.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the president and managing director for R/GA in Latam, a company that was founded 40 years ago and is part of a holding group with 20 offices and 2,000 employees at a global level. We provide marketing, communication, and technology consulting, among other services. We are the developers of Nike+, which is Nike’s running system.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

For this particular engagement, developers from BairesDev worked on a platform we developed for a client. It was an internal management platform for the end client’s buyers, clients, and points of sale in Buenos Aires, and was deployed to the rest of Argentina thereafter.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They were flexible in providing resources that were at the same level of our own engineers. They integrated with the rest of the team quickly, and worked in our own offices.

They used JavaScript for the frontend, along with other typical web technology stacks for both iOS and Android development.

What is the team dynamic?

For one of the projects, they assigned 3–4 resources, but for others, they mostly provide staff augmentation.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

We’ve used them for 5 years as an outsourcing company. They recruited candidates to have them hired as full-time employees. Afterwards, we started using them as vendors as an alternative for other projects that required more flexibility.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent between $100,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on this particular project from 2014–2015, but our relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their flexible structure allows us to use talent that would otherwise be very difficult or expensive to acquire. They’ve been able to fulfill our expectations, and if we don’t like 1 of the developers, we’re able to change them. Their resources are fast, and as a staff augmentation partner, they’ve responded really well without any issues or effects on our timeline.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

There are expectations on both sides of the relationship. They are able to meet all of our expectations while maintaining the flow of the relationship. Their resources are assigned, and then we have the final responsibility. They base their skills on our requirements, which are really good. They’re flexible in extending periods and looking for nontypical resources, which has made for an overall positive relationship.

Generally, they have a low rotation in terms of project managers, which saves us from having to start completely over.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their response times and ability to always have someone we can call are great. If there is a developer who doesn’t fit our mold, we’re able to change them out. They have a series of online exams used to have a standardized filter of developer profiles.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have high standards. The initial phase in which they bring several candidates can be somewhat tiring, so they could benefit from tuning this area a bit. I would like for this process to be easier, but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

**The Review** — Sep 1, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev's developers provided really good results for the company. They are extremely responsive, proactive, they communicate up, and are creative thinkers. Their level of organization in pre-screening recruiting and onboarding is what differentiates them.
""They're constantly talking to us and willing to set-up meetings, even at the senior leadership level, to discuss ways in which we can partner with them in a better way."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there
We're a boutique software provider in New Orleans, Louisiana that has been in business for over 10 years. We work primarily in the travel technology space, partnering with Fortune 500 companies.
I am the director of technology and I oversee all of our architecture and development efforts. That includes building the team and making sure they have what they need, establishing requirements, and basically everything it takes to run a development department.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?
We primarily work with BairesDev through a staff augmentation engagement. Some companies offer resources, developers, and whatever it takes to get a software product done. We actually had a lot of this in-house. We have our own QA apart. We've got our own business analysts. We are a boutique software development company.
We were struggling to find local developers in New Orleans. There's a shortage nationwide in the US, as everyone knows, and in New Orleans is actually a lot worse. We definitely have a core group of developers based in New Orleans, but at the pace and scale that we were growing, the available resource pool is not big enough for what we needed. We started looking into different companies that could help us augment our staff.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We found BairesDev and we like them because they weren't as big as the Globants or the Accentures of the world. They were more in line with the kind of company we are, which isn't a giant corporation but we're not a small startup either. Culturally, it was a nice fit. We knew we would get more of the attention we needed in terms of finding talent and evaluating them. We do work with some other partners in Central and South America, but BairesDev is one of the largest ones we work with.

The collaboration consists of a number of different projects. We have a platform and we offer services on top of that platform. We primarily were using Ruby, J-Ruby, Javascript's, some Java, some NodeJS. We're pretty language agnostic though. We always look at any new tech that might represent the right tool for the current job we're doing.
What is the team dynamic?
We've got up to 20 developers from BairesDev right now. We've been working with them for well over three years. The team dynamic is great. I'll have to emphasize, our relationship is staff augmentation.
We let them know we need a developer with a specific skill-set and they'll send us resumes. We're at a point now where they're just constantly sending us resumes. We told them to keep sending them and if anything catches our eye, we'll move forward with an interview. We put all the candidates through our own technical interview and also interview them on culture, and other aspects. By the time we bring them on to the team, we're treating them as if we had hired them directly in New Orleans. We wanted to work primarily with developers in South and Central America just to keep it in the same time zone. They're distributed on a team that could have people from our New Orleans office, from our Austin office, or even working with contractors and other providers.
They all report to managers or team leads that we have in-house. The team dynamic's great because BairesDev does a good job screening first and then we can narrow it down with our own screening. The hit rates are usually really good. Working with them over the years, they really got a sense of our DNA and what clicks and works in our environment, so now they do that job on pre-screening on their end.
How did you come to work with BairesDev?
They found us. It was the right time because we were searching around and we were trying to find some alternatives to augmenting our staff. I actually got an email from one of the account managers over there. They came at a nice time when we were vetting companies. We did a standard comparison grid and looked at everything from average rate to time zones, to how large is the company, to how deep is their bench. We talked to them about how they recruit, how they screen and more. Those were some of the major factors that came into play. I think that because of the size of the company they are, they were right the right fit for us.
How much have you invested with BairesDev?
[Confidential]
What is the status of this engagement?
The collaboration started in 2014.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of the work is really related to the quality of the people and team members that have them. The pre-screening that they do helps because if you can spend less time interviewing, usually the people that are doing the interviews are key resources that we need working on the product. Every hour I pull them out to go and do an interview is key and if it doesn't work out, that's a hit. That was very helpful. By the time we get a team member on board, retention is very high, especially for contractors and definitely just developers as a whole.
Our average tenure is 2.5 years, which for a company like us is incredibly helpful because our platform is large and it takes a while to get ramped up. If our retention rates are low where we've got a lot of churns, it actually really affects our bottom line. I think that this has been a big factor. Speaking back to the culture, usually people we've brought on board with their staff are more heads-up developers and they're going to communicate, which again is really helpful because it's common for developers sometimes to get caught in rabbit holes and not raise their hand for help, communicate, or update their managers and product managers.
We've had really good results from BairesDev's developers. They communicate up and are very proactive and creative thinkers. It really doesn't feel like you're dealing with a contractor. This has been our experience.
How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?
We do most of our product management in-house. We do have an assigned project manager through BairesDev but they are primarily more of a human resource manager for us. If we are having any personnel issues, for whatever reason, they're there to help and they make sure that things get corrected and move smoothly. That's primarily how we work with them on a product manager basis. They'll also help with schedules. We have pretty stringent time logging requirements. Everybody in the company logs time down to the 15-minute increments on different tasks that are working on. As you can imagine that can be difficult to herd people into complying with that.
One of the other benefits that their staff brings is that their product managers will help us if there are any issues around time sheets, resolving them and the like. Really anything that we need to support the staff administratively.
What did you find most impressive about BairesDev?
They're extremely responsive in my experience and that was key for us. They're constantly talking to us, willing to set up meetings, even at the senior leadership level, to discuss ways in which we can partner with them in a better way and provide more services. They're trying to help us streamline and leverage their services better. I never really feel a lot of pressure from them from a sales perspective. They are there to help. They're very responsive, to the point that their CEO visited our offices. We were able to work out special arrangements with him that were unique to our situation. They even talk to us through all the methods that they use, technical practicals, down to the more culturally and soft-skill base. I think that the responsiveness and the level of organization they bring to recruiting and onboarding differentiates them.
Are there any areas BairesDev could improve?
Early on, we talked to them about a relationship in which they can take on more. Instead of providing straight staff, QA, devs that just distribute themselves in our organization. That we actually hire a cross-functional team from them, provide more specs and then they can execute on it. We weren't interested in that in the beginning. I think over time working with them, we became more interested in it and again, they're not hard up sellers with us. So I think that this is on us for just not following-up on it much. I didn't get the sense that they provided as much of that.
I think that's maybe something that could have been a little more proactive, that we discussed transitioning into that kind of relationship and that may come. But that's the only thing I can really think of for now. I think for us, one of the downsides to working with any contracting company or contractors, is that you're not in direct control of their compensation, even though you're trying to foster a more direct relationship, it makes it harder because there's just things on the administrative human resources side that to some extent is going to remain opaque to us. But I think that's the nature of the business.

**Feedback Summary**: BairesDev is a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and adaptable development partner. Their main strength lies in the fact that they are a better cultural fit for clients in the US, being from South America. They also know how to push back and ask questions when appropriate, which provides added value.
""BairesDev is really pleasant to work with."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the program manager of an EdTech company based out of Salt Lake City.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

We’re developing a system that we’re looking to launch in the marketplace.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re working on an enterprise application that has a Java backend and uses React on the frontend.

We had 11–13 developers from BairesDev that supplemented our internal efforts, but I can’t go into further details since we’re a publicly traded company.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

We had exhausted the Ruby on Rails local talent and decided to switch to Java in order to reduce hosting costs and expand our horizons. We needed to deliver something to market pretty quickly and we knew we couldn’t do that by hiring in the local market. We also knew there weren’t any other attractive options in the US.

Our company has recently focused on co-location and its benefits, so we’ve been trying to co-locate as many internal employees as possible in the same place. As we analyzed all the business objectives, we knew we were going to have to look into outsourcing.

We did a worldwide search including the US, Eastern Europe, India, South America, and Latin America. Based on the timeline, technical ability, and price, we were able to choose the top 3 companies and decided to try out a couple of those firms. After 4 or 5 months, we dropped one of the vendors because they clearly weren’t what we wanted. We found a good way to work with BairesDev and have been working with them ever since.

How much have you invested with BairesDev?

We’ve spent between $3 million–$5 million so far, including internal costs. We spend $100,000 per month with BairesDev.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on some test projects in September 2016 and on the actual project in October 2016. The relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We trust them. We’ve gone after a lot of the best engineers in the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys, but the market is really unstable in the US right now. We have extremely smart engineers, and after 4 years of working with this company, we’ve never had to engage an external vendor before. We’ve explored a couple of options, but have never been happy with the results. This is the first time we’ve been able to make it work, which speaks to the adaptability of BairesDev’s engineers.

Their technical ability is solid. It’s not what we would demand of a senior engineer here; I would call them mid-level engineers. There are 2 or 3 of their developers that have been exceptional, and we would hire them full time if the circumstances were right.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

We use JIRA to assign tasks and Slack for communication. We do daily standups over video conferencing to get on the same page quicker.

What did you find most impressive about BairesDev?

They have strong technical abilities and are adaptable. Also, their personalities align better to the US culture. I’ve used Eastern European and Indian vendors before and have consistently had problems because of the cultural differences.

In India and Eastern Europe, the engineers were overly deferent and didn’t push back appropriately. They also weren’t up front about things. In South America, a lot of the developers are more independent and line up with our culture better; they push back and ask a lot more questions. BairesDev is really pleasant to work with, overall.

Are there any areas BairesDev could improve?

We’ve had to go through some process improvements. Them not being passive was a positive thing, but we also needed to help them find the right balance. We wanted them to push back but our internal team needed to own the future technical requirements and would need to provide the technical direction of the project in order to have the right amount of ownership.

We helped BairesDev understand that and let them know that we were going to own the technical direction but that they can ask questions and push back where appropriate. Once we lock down the technical direction, we need everyone to get in line with that. We had issues where people weren’t getting in line after we made decisions and that was painful, but we were able to knock off those rough edges quickly and have a good working relationship.

**The Review** — Jul 6, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: By seamlessly integrating with the internal team, BairesDev helped achieve key objectives by performing to the same expectations as full-time employees. Their strong onboarding methods, reliable deliverables, and responsiveness continue to strengthen the relationship.
""BairesDev has consistently produced excellent engineers.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the vice president of engineering for a performance marketing/architecture company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with BairesDev?

I needed to scale my engineering group quickly. In San Francisco, there’s a lot of competition for good engineers. BairesDev provided me with good engineers in a brief amount of time. Because they were much cheaper than local engineers, I can actually hire more resources through their pipeline.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We're using 20 engineers now, mainly for Python but also for some Urline work. Our frontend is JavaScript. We use React for the framework.

How did you come to work with BairesDev?

They were referred to me by an agency that matches companies with near-source developers. We interviewed a couple of our top choices and selected BairesDev.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2016, and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We used them as staff augmentation, so they’re embedded within our team. Their success is hard to separate from the internal team’s.

How did BairesDev perform from a project management standpoint?

They don’t do any independent project management because they’re part of our team. They perform to the same expectations as my full-time employees. We use JIRA for issue-tracking, Slack for online communications, and Google Hangouts for planning sessions and daily standups. We use screen-sharing tools as well.

What did you find most impressive about BairesDev?

When trying to find a partner, I talked to a number of vendors that all promised me the moon but didn’t deliver. BairesDev’s CEO promised me an engineer within 6 weeks. He said we’d worry about the paperwork later so we can get the project going more quickly. Other companies would have spent 2 months wading through the legal agreement before sending us a resume.

BairesDev has consistently produced excellent engineers. We’ve not had to let any of them go. Any performance issues involved people’s motivation and making sure they’re working on the right team. Each resource has been very steady. The CEO really wanted to build a partnership, and the quality of their engineers has impressed me. The tools they use to source these engineers are obviously working well for them.

Are there any areas BairesDev could improve?

We had some issues when they changed a few account managers, which impaired consistency, but we gave them feedback, and they addressed the issue.

### Rolls Royce Case Study
We partnered with Rolls-Royce to develop a new mobile app, incorporating new features and optimizing its processes.
The Challenge: To enable nuclear engineers to monitor systems from anywhere. Rolls Royce presented its Safety Data Sheet (SDS) website, which provided real-time data from sensors throughout a power plant, but only to those on-site in the control room.
The Solution: We provided Rolls Royce with a five-person software development team. To speed up the time to market, we created a Progressive Web Application (PWA) as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This allowed us to reuse the web app's codebase for the mobile app.
The Outcome: Rolls Royce's platform digitalizes power plant sensor data. Previously, the real-time data was viewable only on-site. Now, the mobile app is a continuation of the MSDS system, accessible from anywhere. The app pulls real-time data from sensors throughout Rolls-Royce's clients'  power plants.
App features include:

- Real-time system monitoring of multiple power plants on one app
- Customizable alerts/alarms adjusted by defined localized conditions and variances
- Analysis of current, historical, and trend data
- Remote access with advanced cybersecurity controls
