I’m the head of design at Bihar Krishi, an initiative of the Government of Bihar to digitize and streamline agricultural services for farmers in all 38 districts of Bihar.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yellow Slice?

Bihar Krishi is a one-stop app for farmers — loans, fertilizers, schemes, events, and education. We engaged Yellow Slice to redesign the app to make it intuitive and easy to navigate, helping farmers discover and access key services. We also wanted to improve slow registration and download rates and increase the adoption rate and convert high sign-ups into active, retained usage.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Yellow Slice has handled the UX research, strategy, and UI/UX redesign of the Bihar Krishi app, focusing on improving usability, discoverability, adoption, and engagement for farmers. Key deliverables have included user research and farmer insights, user personas, competitor analysis, identification of key usability and engagement challenges, UX strategy and information architecture, redesign of key app journeys and screens, UI design and overall visual experience, multiple rounds of design iterations and refinements, and design support and collaboration with the development team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The redesign went live only 2–3 months ago, so it’s too early for final numbers. We’re currently in the expected transition period as farmers adjust from the old interface, and we’re actively driving re-adoption through marketing, WhatsApp support, and on-ground field training — we expect the metrics to recover over the next few months. One clear early win is that the user research surfaced insights beyond what our internal team already knew, which directly shaped the redesign.

How did Yellow Slice perform from a project management standpoint?

Ritika and Abu have led the project really well — they’re very receptive and have handled multiple revision rounds on a complex project without friction. The user research by Akhil and Avinash has been excellent; they’ve run the full interviews and given us genuinely new insights. Overall, the process has been smooth and well managed, and the team has cooperated with us on timelines. The engagement has run for about a year, but those delays have been on our side, not Yellow Slice’s.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive part has been the depth of thinking Yellow Slice has brought to the project. Their proposal already included personas, competitor analysis, and key challenges, rather than focusing only on cost and timelines. The team has also been very receptive to feedback and revisions throughout the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The senior designers have become less visible once the design phase began. Anthony has taken a back seat, and Akhil has moved off after the research phase, so we haven’t always been sure whether they’ve been reviewing the final designs. Senior designers should stay visible to the client — even joining calls occasionally through the design phase would help.

I'm an investor at Rituale, a men's grooming brand. We're currently perfecting Dewy, an adaptive face cream engineered specifically to withstand the Indian climate and nourish Indian skin.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yellow Slice?

I'm mentoring and supporting the team building Dewy. We're creating a unique experience, so the flows and screens have no reference points to work from. We needed Yellow Slice to design unique user flows and screens for our product. The team needed the ability, aptitude, and willingness to dig deep and understand the problem rather than pick something off the shelf.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Yellow Slice designed our mini viable brand, including a minimalist wordmark, typography system, clinical 4-color palette, and foundational visual language. The team also designed the UX/UI core journeys, including AR biopsy scan and feedback states, biological dashboard and skin score, treatment allocation and subscription, and potency engine and degradation logic. Additionally, Yellow Slice designed our packaging, including the primary bottle label and secondary box design aligned with the brand's clinical identity.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't launched Dewy yet, but we've conducted user testing and gathered early feedback, which has been good. The real outcome will be engagement and whether people resonate with what we're presenting because this is an untested market, and a lot of it was built on a hypothesis.

How did Yellow Slice perform from a project management standpoint?

Aishwarya (Project Manager) led the project management, and it ran smoothly. We didn't have time pressure from our side since regulatory delays on the physical product side pushed the timeline back. We had the luxury of working at the right pace. We primarily communicated via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed by the homework Yellow Slice did and the thinking they applied to the work. They didn't come in blindly copying somebody else and tell us this is great UI. They did the homework, connected the dots well, and ran a theme that was easy to explain. The basics were strong.Additionally, Yellow Slice didn't just show up with theoretical inputs and ask us to tell them what it should be. They did something, brought it for review, took the lessons back, improved it, and came back. Getting into the specifics was a real strength of this team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Within the constraints we had, Yellow Slice did well, but I would have loved to get more. When I started, I was thinking about the modern UX practices that are evolving. I even pulled an AI report on what they are and who is winning awards for them. Connecting some of those dots may have helped. However, I liked how the project turned out because I believe in keeping user journeys and visuals very simple, and Yellow Slice achieved that.

I’m the retention marketing manager of Underneat.in, a retail company. Our company was born in March 2025 from a moment of genuine frustration. When Kusha was exploring the shapewear and intimates market, she kept running into the same problem every Indian woman knows too well: everything felt designed for someone else’s body.

Our main goal was to increase our conversion rate. Secondly, we wanted our website and apps to look more aesthetically pleasing.

Yellow Slice handled the end-to-end UI/UX design for our website and apps, focusing on improving conversion rates and enhancing our brand's visual appeal. Key deliverables included UX research, design mockups, mood boards, icon sets, and multiple design iterations based on feedback. The team also provided development support through their in-house team, although an external development team joined later in the project implementation phase.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our conversion rate increased from 1.4% to 1.9%. Additionally, our brand’s website, which used to look bland, now looks visually appealing and represents our brand a lot better.

How did Yellow Slice perform from a project management standpoint?

Yellow Slice’s team was very easy to work with. Whatever requirements we shared with the project manager, the deliverables reflected that, even when our team wanted multiple iterations done. The team presented multiple mockups, mood boards, and icon sets for us to choose from. Moreover, their UX research was on point. In just a span of one or two months, the team wrapped up the entire project. We communicated via email and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Unlike most design agencies, Yellow Slice didn't just follow our requirements; they also provided creative input that enhanced the project. The team was really creative and insightful; they followed a design-first approach.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The research and design phases were executed very well. One area for improvement was during the development phase, particularly after an external development team joined the project. Better alignment and communication during implementation could have reduced the number of iterations and helped avoid additional costs and delays.

For this phase, our focus was on building a frontend that users could interact with, test, and provide feedback on. Along with it, we want funding so we thought our platform should have a global appeal.  Yellow Slice stood out because they understood this vision and could translate it into a tangible experience.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are targeting 2–3 deployments by 2026–2027, and we are already moving closer to achieving that. We are in serious discussions with defense sectors like the Navy and Army. We are also actively working with commercial airlines. 

India’s aviation sector is rapidly growing, and currently, nearly 95% of commercial aircraft are serviced outside India, representing a massive opportunity. We are also collaborating with organizations like Mahindra.

The project began as a dashboard but evolved into a more complex system over time. The team remained open to learning, respected our domain expertise, and took a proactive approach to understanding new concepts.

The project established a strong visual foundation with unified color systems and multiple design iterations. This created a scalable base for future product enhancements.

Yellow Slice managed the project well overall. There were time constraints toward the end, which made the final phase slightly rushed, but the collaboration throughout the project was smooth and responsive. The team remained supportive and aligned with our needs.

We are currently exploring additional work, especially around a visualization module and UX improvements.

The only challenge came from timeline pressure near the end. Although the contract extended until December, there was pressure to finish in November, which created a rushed closing phase. The limitation was partly from our side as well, but a more relaxed timeline would have improved the experience.

We haven’t launched our digital products yet; we plan to launch in April 2025. We can’t really say about the measurable outcomes, but the platform's UI and UX have definitely improved.

Initially, we discussed our expectations with the product and the KPIs we were eyeing. We were the happiest with the research; however, there was some gap between the time the UX was ready and the time the UI was not.  

The UI team took some extra that we didn’t expect, although the result was good, so the wait was worth it. The project manager eased the flow of communication later.

We don’t have any complaints with Yellow Slice. Kishor is a well-managed professional who lends a helping hand and gives the necessary feedback. He supports stakeholders' ideas and even accepts work that wasn’t included in the initial scope of work. 

One suggestion for the UI team is not to follow the exact wireframes but to think beyond that.
