Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Managing Director of What Can I Sing. WCIS is an on-demand App for Karaoke requests.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wiselysoft?

The App was originally built by a different developer. I needed to fix a wide range of bugs and elements that did not work. We also wanted to add a significant number of additional features to the App.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted our App to run smoothly with all features working correctly.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We used a gig platform to seek EOI for the work required. From there, we created a questionnaire. We wanted to know if applicants understood the App in its current format, what it did and what we wanted it to do. An understanding of this was important.

We also wanted someone with good communication skills including excellent English-speaking skills. We also developed some technical questions that involved a hypothetical dilemma and asked what methods and applications would be used to solve it.

Describe the project in detail.

A list of bugs and features was created. Wiselysoft was asked to read through, understand and provide feedback on issues or clarifications they required. Each of the items was broken down into individual tasks. We then batched some tasks to create a few stages. Wiselysoft then commenced work on each task. At the conclusion of each stage, we conducted testing and then a live release.

What was the team composition?

The person working on our App has been the same person from interviews to development to deployment. This has been helpful as we know they have the right understanding of our requirements. We are aware that others have assisted in various tasks. But we have been able to speak with the same person at all times. Our previous developer had a chain of people we had to deal with.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Everything has gone according to plan. We have had several releases. Wiselysoft has always ensured they have full understianding of our end goal for each and every task. If they were ever unsure what we were trying to convey, they would fully clarify and even check workflow. Often they would provide additional ideas.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Perfect.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They do what they say they are going to do. I never get any false promises. They are quick to respond and their speed of production is impressive. Everything always seems to work first time. We have had a couple of tasks where we have had to modify to get the perfect result. But they understand what we want and deliver it.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is always room for improvement, but it is hard to say Wiselysoft needs much.

I'm a sole trader and private pilot.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wiselysoft?

I've identified a need in the market to help pilots pass their ground exams in a way that's more effective. I wanted to create a bespoke app to help facilitate this process.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created an iOS/Android app for me that simulates the nine exams a pilot needs to pass in order to receive their certification. The app uses a SQLite database and is hosted through myhosting.com. The app itself has sections for the different nine exams for them to study and has a section for them to do the test. The tests are multiple-choice and once you get through the test, it tracks their results and gives them a chart of progress on whether they've passed or not. It also gives them the results on what questions they're struggling with the most and they can jump straight to the study prompting.   

What is the team composition?

I had one main point of contact.

How much have you invested with them?    

We've invested £2,000 ( Approximately $2,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in August 2018, and we finished working together in March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were brilliant to work with, and I plan on using them again. They're always willing to go the extra mile. They accommodated extra revisions to the app after it was completed. The functionality works exactly as I expected and wanted it to. Even when we ran into the issues months after they finished the project, they've been good enough to fix things right away.

How did Wiselysoft perform from a project management standpoint?

They reply really quickly, which was great. They managed most of the project on their own and kept me informed when there were new updates. We mainly communicated over Skype messenger, and I gave them the wireframes via proto.io. We also used Google Docs to manage the feedback and keep a list of any bugs and requirements.

What did you find most impressive about them?

 They were prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the app was functional and met my requirements as a client. I've had issues with other developers in the past who haven't delivered what they said they would and have had to fight back and forth to get them to complete the work. That wasn’t the case at all with Wiselysoft. They wanted to deliver an app of high quality that met the requirements without cutting corners.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing that comes to mind is their ability to gauge and scale how long a project would take. They ended up going over six months over schedule, but that was partially my fault since I wasn't ready with the content.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to really think about the requirements. Using proto.io is also really useful for developing wireframes, and it allows you to work out how the user experience will function before the app is built. It'll save you a lot of time. They're happy to be in communication daily, so I would also advise taking advantage of that.

How they instantly reply to all communications & are consistent!!

There’s always room for improvement but I have yet to see anything from a client’s perspective.
