Vancouver Firefighter Charities (VFC) is how Vancouver Firefighters give back to their community when they are not in the firehall. The VFC is a registered charity that is dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of at risk children and seniors in our community. The VFC is powered by the dedicated work of off-duty Vancouver Firefighters, who commit thousands of hours annually volunteering to deliver their progrrams.  Funding for their initiatives comes through their Payroll Donation Program along with generous community support.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire White Canvas Design Agency to accomplish?

• Create a professional brand system for VFC and their programs. We established a scalable brand system and guidelines that extended beyond the event, enabling consistent, professional execution across VFC programs and future initiatives.
• Create a memorable identity for a first-time event. We developed a bold, cohesive visual identity for the inaugural Ignite the Night gala, designed to stand out and translate effortlessly across digital, print, and live event environments.
• Engage donors, corporate sponsors, and The Vancouver Mayor’s Network. We designed a centralized website and campaign assets to clearly communicate impact, streamline event information, and drive engagement from donors, sponsors, and key civic partners
• Create anticipation and excitement leading up to the event. We built a multi-channel visual system across email marketing and social channels to generate momentum pre-event, supporting storytelling, and early donations ahead of the gala.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

Vancouver Firefighter Charities needed cohesive event branding that they could use across multiple touch points to bring the inaugural Ignite the Night: The Mayor’s Party to life – a gala event in support of Vancouver Firefighter Charities. We created a comprehensive visual identity and brand language system, then designed and built a custom Squarespace website that served as a central hub for event information and pre-event donations. The visual identity was also applied across promotional materials and event signage, creating a consistent experience from the online presence to the live event. In the months following, we also worked with VFC on the branding system for the non-profit as a whole, inclusive of programming sub-brands, visual identity guidelines, and branded fundraising tools like their annual impact report.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. 100% sold out event: all money raised also happened before the event even began, allowing attendees to enjoy the evening without bringing out their pocketbooks.
2. 300 guests: the guest list was invite-only, and required registration through a unique portal through the event website.
3. $2.7M raised: an incredible success for the inaugural event, Ignite the Night raised $2.7 million directly benefitting their toys for kids, snacks for kids, sports for kids, and lifeline for seniors programming.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Carly and her team were incredibly responsive to all of our requests. They communicated clear timelines for our projects and always hit their targets. If we had questions they answered promptly and were eager to receive feedback which was then properly incorporated into our projects. They are professional, competent and highly engaged.

The people and the quality of work. Carly and the entire team at White Canvas are just great people. Our organization seeks out companies that align with our values and wants to help us deliver on our promise to uplift our community. White Canvas Design Agency fulfilled all of this criteria. Additioanlly, they produce excellent results that was visually engaging but also highlighted the work we are doing in the community. Phenomenal poeple and phenomenal work.

Loose Lips Magazine is an arts + culture publication covering women and non-binary folks in Vancouver and beyond. I am the editor in chief and co-founder of the magazine!

For what projects/services did your company hire White Canvas Design, and what were your goals?

Our website was a canned wordpress theme that we started more than 7 years ago. It was time for an update to optimize our site for both readability and design, but also to have the capacity for hosting advertisements. We also added an e-commerce widget to it!

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for developers and designers, and picked White Canvas over a couple other options. We were so impressed with the customer service that came during our decision period!

We had a few exploratory calls, then were sent some wireframes, spots for copy, and several back and forth communications where WCD ensured that all of our needs were taken care of as they pertained to the pages we wanted to see, the widgets were functional and useful, and then finally an educational walk through on how to use our beautiful new site!

Four folks, including a designer and developer!

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have not quite had time to measure them yet, but we are getting clicks to our ads and reads!

We communicated mostly over email, but were very appreciative of the project management - Ashley was quick, prompt and totally on the ball with this project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Not only is it exactly what we were looking for, we appreciated their professionalism and patience as we took time to get them materials and were figuring out how to use the site!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not that we can see, yet! We are still in the early phases of using our site!

I am a realtor, operating a small real estate team with a partner.

For what projects/services did your company hire White Canvas Design?

We initially hired White Canvas to assist with the rebranding of our business. The existing brand was built around the founding member, but we were looking to expand our business and reach a new demographic. Following the rebrand, we began working with White Canvas for social media content creation to help build a cohesive connection between what people saw in-person and online.

How did you select this vendor?

I noticed White Canvas on Instagram several years ago due to their eye-catching minimalist aesthetic. When I needed help with a print campaign, I reached out to them. Upon meeting with Carly, I realized she was not only creative, but extremely detailed and organized. The print campaign went flawlessly and I didn’t hesitate to contact them for branding years later.

The process started with an exploration call and based off that information they put together an initial branding presentation. After my partner and I decided to move forward with the project I met with White Canvas to discuss vision, business goals and story. We reworked some ideas from the initial meeting and discussed brand strategy at the second meeting. The brand draft was then presented and I was given the opportunity to discuss the concepts and provide feedback. Upon approval of the design concepts, the final brand kit was delivered.

What was the team composition?

For the branding project I worked closely with Carly (founder & creative director) and Sarah (graphic designer). Ashley (client relations) and Manisha have been working on social creation, with Carly included on the planning components.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Quantitative results are unknown at this time as the project has just recently been completed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Working with White Canvas it was extremely easy to communicate and schedule meetings. Carly’s Calendly schedule eliminated any back-and-forth when it came to scheduling an appointment. They were flexible and accommodated both in-person and Zoom meetings.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The presentation they created showed me they truly listened to what I was saying. They were extremely intuitive. The White Canvas team has been extremely welcoming and continues to be a pleasure to work with; they value relationships that extend beyond the completion of a project.

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

I loved every part of the experience and don't have any suggestions for improvement.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire White Canvas Design Agency to accomplish for Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services?

We hired White Canvas Design Agency for a brand redesign, printed materials, and website redesign. We have further engaged them to advise us on branding and marketing.

Can you describe the scope of their involvement in this project?

White Canvas Design Agency has created a new brand tied to market research. They took the time to understand our business, market, and customers. They’ve also created full branding guidelines and reviewed our mission and vision with us. The team has created all our printed materials, including business cards, brochures, and trade show materials. White Canvas Design Agency has also redesigned our website and provides ongoing consulting around branding and marketing.

We initially engaged with them on branding, which was quoted up-front, payable in milestones. In addition, we engaged a regular monthly retainer for production work and a separate retainer for consulting. We truly feel like we're getting great value for the services delivered. 

What is the team composition?

We work with the full creative team directly - approximately 3-4 team members from White Canvas Design Agency.

How did you come to work with White Canvas Design Agency?

We found them through the Langley Chamber of Commerce. We chose them because they had high ratings, were a great culture fit, and had company values that aligned with ours.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in approximately March 2025, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve gotten our brand redone and received all the deliverables and assets. Subjectively, people like our new brand. Our existing brand was over 15 years old, so it needed a refresh. Our team also seems happier; everyone has been uplifted. See for yourself on our website, social media, and feel free to ask to see our printed materials - they are truly beautiful! 

How did White Canvas Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

White Canvas Design Agency’s project management is excellent. They deliver on time and on budget. We communicate mainly through a combination of emails and virtual meetings. They just make things happen. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed by their creativity and the fact that we have the backing of the full team - project management, creative, web/online, copywriting, photography. The full team gets involved in the branding process, leaning on each person's experience and creativity.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything has been truly great!

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend working with them. When we originally approached them to re-brand, they listened and provided guidance. We were originally nervous of refreshing our brand, but once we saw the initial concepts (back in mid 2025), we knew immediately we made the right decision.
