Development of a social networking platform designed specifically for circus professionals. The site will enable users to connect, share information, and access industry resources online.

Key Deliverables:

Creation of a searchable profile system for individual artists, acts, and companies.
Development of a job board for industry-specific opportunities.
Event listing functionality for upcoming shows, auditions, and workshops.
User-friendly networking tools to foster professional connections and collaborations.
Admin dashboard for platform management and moderation.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had a successfully operating platform. The company later merged with another company under a new branding.

Overall, their project management was solid. About 80% of the time, they delivered items on schedule. When there were delays, they were largely due to changes in the project specifications, which they handled professionally and with flexibility. They were responsive to our evolving needs and maintained good communication throughout the development process.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What I found most impressive about this company was the quality of communication with the project leader. They were attentive, proactive, and always reachable when needed — even in urgent situations. Knowing that we could easily get support when issues arose gave us a lot of confidence throughout the project.

I'm the executive director of Footage, a global feminist organization that conducts innovative, trauma-informed research and advocacy to support women, LGBTQIA+, and marginalized groups. We focus on gender-based violence, forced displacement, and social inequities through participatory and arts-based methods.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with WebHive?

We were building FemSMS, a trauma-informed mobile support app co-created with Ukrainian women during the war. The app offers short emotional support content — text, audio, and meditations — in a simple, calming interface. We needed a development partner to help us build the MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebHive has helped us develop the MVP of the FemSMS app. The MVP includes a welcome screen with three buttons: “I need inspiration,” “I need support,” and “I need help.” Each button delivers a motivational message (text/audio) with options to refresh, save, or share. 
The app also includes a meditation timer with options for duration and pause/start, a resource list with useful contacts and links, a simple message-sharing feature, and a basic admin panel for uploading texts/audio, managing categories, and viewing basic stats.WebHive has built the entire MVP using Flutter, translating our complex vision into a clear, beautiful, and gentle user experience. The team has handled every step of the process — from wireframes to implementation.

We’ve worked with 2–5 teammates from WebHive, including Eugene (Founder) and Vitaliy (Co-Founder).

We found them on Upwork. We chose them because their pricing fit our budget, they had a great culture fit, they offered good value for the cost, their company values aligned with ours, and they showed compassion and understanding of our community and needs.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2024, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Working with WebHive has been one of the most meaningful technology collaborations in our history. As a team developing a trauma-informed mobile support app co-created with Ukrainian women and marginalized communities during war and crisis, we needed developers who could approach technology with empathy and technical excellence. 
WebHive brought both—heart and talent in equal measure. From the very beginning, they understood the spirit of FemSMS: care, calm, and connection. Every step of the process, from development to preparing the app for beta, was handled with thoughtfulness, skill, and astonishing responsiveness. 
The result is an application that embodies compassion through design and functionality—something we could only have achieved through their creative partnership. We have been testing the app internally with an international team across seven countries; the app is still in beta and built entirely through human-centered design. Compassion truly feels built in. 

How did WebHive perform from a project management standpoint?

WebHive's project management is incredible. They always make us feel like we're their most important client, even though they have many. We feel seen, and they stay close to our mission. Our primary forms of communication are virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

Webhive built our algorithmic intake system, which collects data points from users to determine the strength of a legal claim. From that, they built the language model that translates the results into a dossier for attorneys and auto-generates legal filing documents.
