While VIVID did an excellent job overall, one area for improvement could be managing delivery times. Although they met the deadlines, a bit more flexibility or faster turnaround on certain adjustments could enhance the experience even further. We needed a redesign of our website. It was years old and needed a whole new UI with a consideration to UX. It was rather complex given the nature of our site and what we were trying to accomplish (comparisons, product discovery). Our goal was to update the look completely while adding a lot of additional features as well (sign in, saved searches, filtering etc). The overall look and feel of the site was important as well as functionality and user experience.

We searched online for the vendor. We interviewed several possible vendors and felt lucky to work with Vivid Motion because they clearly had a lot of experience but were willing to work with us at a price point we could afford.

Adrian was our main point of contact. He took the time and energy to really understand our goals and to also get a feel for the vibe we were looking for. Adrian spent time with us going through the old site and talking to us about our over all goals for v.2.

Within a week they already had something for us to look at and by week 2 we were already confident we had made the right vendor decision. They were open to feedback, happy to make the necessary iterations and produced a product we were ecstatic about. We even went back weeks later with extra changes we forgot about and they were happy to execute them.

My team worked directly with Adrian. He was the main project manner and acted as a streamlined go-between us and the designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are very happy with the deliverables from Vivid Motion and Adrian in particular. They really went above and beyond to give us a final product we were so excited about. We will be launching soon and looking forward to the feedback.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The work-flow was seamless and at a great pace. We worked on Slack, messaging and video calls on a good pace to keep things moving. If there was any short delay during a particular week we were given notice of this. Ultimately it did not disrupt the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The level of care, professionalism and speed were off the charts positive. I was very impressed and will use Vivid Motion and Adrian for all of my future projects.

Honestly, I don't have much for areas for improvement. Racking my brain.

We needed help with a full-scale website redesign.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vivid Motion has helped us redesign our website entirely, and the project has been fairly comprehensive. First, they reviewed our existing brand and website and looked at some documents we provided. Then, they created various design options for us that went in different directions. 

Once we decided on the design we wanted, Vivid Motion redesigned the entire frontend of our site, creating templates for all the pages, creating and adding some animations, and building the entire site’s architecture. Then, they created the backend on WordPress, did some custom coding using JavaScript, and created some third-party integrations with Lever, Algolia, and other technology providers. During this process, we supported them by providing them with content, which they took to build the pages.

Vivid Motion has also created the entire backend management infrastructure so that we can easily edit pages in the future. After finishing the site, we contracted them for maintenance, so we now work with them on an ongoing basis as they’re in charge of our site’s hosting. Additionally, they continue to improve the site in small iterative ways to optimize navigation, update the graphics, and more.

Among the features that Vivid Motion has implemented on our site are a fully animated graphic on the front page, some carousel drop-downs, and a stylized screenshot from the front page. Additionally, the product overview page has a nice parallax scroll feature to show off the architecture of our product. Our page also has embedded videos, a blog, and a nice hover capability. The site is also mobile-optimized, thanks to its responsive design.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

After redesigning our site, we’ve seen a 20% increase in traffic, as well as higher conversion rates. Last month, we had our highest number of page views since creating the company, as well as the highest number of search impressions for people searching for our site and finding us.

Overall, we’ve received very positive feedback about our site and how well it supports our brand awareness. Vivid Motion delivers great work and is very thoughtful in their approach to design.

How did Vivid Motion perform from a project management standpoint?

Vivid Motion is very responsive. Their team is fully integrated into our toolset, including Slack and Figma, and we also communicate via Zoom.

Vivid Motion is a very agile team that strives to have long-term working relationships. They’re a small company that works as an extension of our creative team, so we collaborate closely with them continuously. In addition to their partnership approach, their flexibility and strong execution skills are impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Vivid Motion improved their project management for complex projects. It seems like they’re used to smaller-scope projects, so they don’t have a dedicated project manager to keep everyone on track. Thus, we initially had to support them in developing more detailed project plans.

Scope the project accurately from the start so that everyone understands what you require and the level of complexity it requires.

Billo is an online managed marketplace where eCom businesses (brands) get their marketing videos custom-made by a community of video creators for as little as $59 per video. For businesses, it takes 1 minute to create a video task on Billo platform. Video creators then apply for the task through Billo mobile app, and the brand decides who gets the job. The client sends them the product. Selected video creators shoot the videos, submit them to brands and get rewards once videos are approved. At the end of the process, eCom businesses get final videos, which are ready to be used on most ad platforms. I am a Chief Marketing Officer at Billo.

I was looking for someone to design the look and feel of the sampler, and more broadly, the webpage as a whole, which is really just 1 page for now.

Concretely I needed:

• A dual theme, light & dark.
• Responsive for desktop, tablet and phone screens.
• Modals, error states, loading states, header, footer, etc.
• Ideas for a brand font, ideally a logo. Albeit not a priority, yet.

So no worries if you aren't a logo designer per say; another person can always be hired just for that.

After 1 week I was already presented with general UI ideas that were in accordance with the requirements and really set the tone for the remaining components to be done.

The lead designer was easy to communicate with and provided me frequent updates. We connected over Slack and Google meet at least 2 to 3 times a week. Overall I was impressed by the timeline of the team.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by how quickly they grasped my visual preferences and turned them into something even better. At the same time, addressing every requirements I was imposing them.

I can always be more involved in the creation, more sollicited when it comes to some details, but I'm still very satisfied on how they managed everything on their own.

The project started in October 2020 and took five days to complete.

For now, we just needed to set up our website and branding in order to attract investors. We hope to work with Vivid Motion on our mobile app in the future.

Once we selected Vivid Motion, we had a series of discovery meetings to discuss our goals and objectives, as well as the overarching vision. Within the first week or so we had received a few mockups and even a few iterations based on some review comments from us.

We were able to show our designs to some of our clients, and internal team which was pivotal for securing funding and allowed us to iterate since most people prefer a visual media to iterate on an idea.

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided us frequent updates. We connected over zoom at least once a week and used Slack for all other communication. Overall, I was very pleased with communication, and the timelines of the team.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were very pleased with their insights into trending UI designs, as well as their experience in mobile design. They were patient with us and allowed us to iterate plenty before we settled on a final design. I would definitely recommend Vivid Motion again for any mobile UI work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

It's always easy to miss some points when we have video calls etc... But our solid live-preview system allowed us to catch any miscommunications very early on and reconcile any differences.

Design, HTML/CSS conversion and application development of web apps. We had a requirement for High Fidelity mockups to be converted into a format that our team could use. On a time crunch, we asked if they could style directly into our React codebase and they hopped in without an issue and coded alongside our development team.

To speed up time to market and development responsive UX components that looked good and could be implemented quickly by our development team. Adrians team went above and beyond ensuring we got a quality product.

We tested 4 offshore development and design firms, VIVID was the only one that could produce a QUALITY product from our requirements.

They designed and developed multiple web applications and static pages for our enterprise SaaS solution. Like any startup, we couldn't provide a fully robust documentation framework for them to work off of, but they made the best of it and even assisted in requirements gathering. All web applications and designs they worked on for our were directly integrated into our production systems.

What was the team composition?

The project had multiple designers and developers each tasked with completed what they were skilled at, VIVID has yet to provide a team member that did not exceed our expectations. The team scaled with our development efforts which made budgeting and estimation easier.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our solution was developed and launched on time with our aggressive development timeline, we would not have been able to reach our goals without VIVID's development assistance. Again, they exceeded our expectation and we had almost no revisions required of their work.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management can either be done by our team or VIVID's. You can tell even with our management oversight, they had their own processes and procedures in place.

They are flexible with the requirements of the client and go above and beyond to deliver a quality product.

There is very little for them to improve. Even COVID did not slow them down.
