The main objective of the project is to make the (legacy) software suitable for the current and modern usages and requirements. Important criteria is that it should support current (installed) models but also ready for upcoming regulations.

The succesful finalization of the changed software (release candidate) which will be intensively tested before it will be globally released&deployed.

R&D projects are complicated to manage on output so focus and continous progress are crucial to realize a succesful outcome! To make it a succes a smooth co-operation between our R&D team and the of Vega IT is crucial and in our case it fits very well.

Refactoring of the API system and the related flows and automations to ensure the smooth electronic onboarding and enrolment of teachers into various teaching programmes, including the integration into their digital learnong platforms.

The key deliverables included but not limited to the refactoring of legacy integration, technical documentation of as is and to be solutions, compliance with contractural obligations, creating efficiencies and improving end users enrolment experience and working colloboratively with the product and programme data teams with a key emphasis on improving the quality of data held.

• Met deadline for compliance for Version 3 of the API
• Improved Data quality for programmes up to high 90's
• Delivered new features that improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the onboarding programme enrolment.

• Improved the ways of working and DevOps within the Salesforce SDLC

Vega were not scoped with project management of this project that was handled by an internal Teach First project team. 

Vega are an integral part of the TF Digital Engineering team and we would not have been able to  successfully deliver this project without them.

They were always willing to provide insight and suggest improvements to the system and the calibre of the work that they have and continue to deliver for Teach First is always of a very high quality

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Vega ability to retain and provide high quality development resources is impressive and what we find unique about them is that every developer we have utilised across time at Teach First quality of output and their active involvement in teams sets them apart from any other offshore resource company that I  have used.

Retrospectively there is always part of a project or a deliverable that we could improve upon but it is a Digital Engineering team that delivers solutions. 

Teach First have been in a partnership with Vega for a decade now and historically that has been based on development resource. Going into the next decade we hope to expand that into other areas of key areas of the digital landscape

The goal was to create a full suite of software services for intranet, workflow management, CRM, several integrations and a custom CMS. 

In addition to automated migrations from legacy systems. 

The Vega team joined our 12 scrum teams and delivered and are still delivering value toward these goals.

We created the suite of software components required and customers are adopting the new applications and running productions systems using the our new software.

The quality of the Vega IT engineers and the flexible way of working Vega IT  has adopted are impressive. No long term contracts, but a relationship based on trust.

Due to our long relationship at times Vega engineers left Vega and had to be replaced. This cause some stress from time to time, but this is to be expected.

The Vega IT team developed a brand new community platform for us which was focused on engaging and encourage philanthropists to come together to learn, connect and give more, better and faster. They were true partners in this project, putting a large, dedicated team on the project who managed all aspects of the build, from project management to backend/frontend development to AWS / API expertise. 

They were committed to meeting our needs and also spoke clearly about alternative routes when they had suggestions. They also were very mindful of our budget and found solutions to staying within it. 

Key deliverables included: 

• Creation of a new white-labeled platform for gated communities 
• Development of a sophisticated onboarding experience driven by machine learning 
• Features included posting messages and polls, creation of groups, Spanish language capabilities, multi-layer privacy settings, dynamic profiles, and a learning center, amongst other enhancements.

I'm the Lead Developer at Verano, one of the biggest sun protection producers in western-europe. We currenly have production facilities spread over 4 countries, and we are active in 15 countries! I manage most of the software projects that we develop within Verano.

Our previous partner portal was outdated, and build poorly years ago. It was time for a new and refreshing website for our partners. First, we did the development in-house, but because of unsufficient developers we had to out-source parts of the project to Vega IT. They were able to provide the manpower we needed to expand our platform swiftly, keeping performance and scalability in mind.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose for Vega IT because of their professional look and affordable pricing. We heard about Vega through a colleague who knows the local business.

We have several meetings a week to discuss the work done and work ahead of us. We go through their work, and check what has to be changed. Vega IT worked on several features, e.g. User Management, Service Management and Pricelist module. All of this is done in PHP Laravel together with LiveWire.

I am working with two developers from Vega IT:

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The features they have developed over time are professional and clean. Users like what they have delivered, and are pleased with the proper workings of everything. Users are getting more and more active over time.

We communicate mainly over Slack. We do use GitLab for VCS and issue management, and use Clockify to track all time spend on tickets.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their unique way of doing business with customers all over the world is impressive. Also, their office is pretty cool.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The first time we had developers from Vega, the projects failed. This was due to project management (from both sides). Now we have better communication with Vega as well as the developers, and are the projects running well.

The main improvement could be having more communications initially with our in-house development team and being transparent on what can be done. This way it reduces the time they spent contemplating the code and teamwork can help them find the answers they have been looking for.

We needed to augment our internal engineering team to deliver on medium-sized projects with tight delivery timeframes, during a period when the internal team was busy with other work.

SOLUTION

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

Serbia is an up-and-coming tech hub with good quality developers for a reasonable price. Vega IT comes well reviewed so seemed a good choice to begin a working relationship with.

Development of a new web application for our front-end, written in React. Development ran in parallel with back-end implementation which was challenging but with agreed API specifications this was managed well.

We provided Vega IT with a specification of the role and our company. They came back to us with a few CVs of developers they believed could fit. We booked interviews with those that interested us, and hired the best fit.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

The resource we hired has worked autonomously to deliver against specifications, and provided suggested improvements along the way. This is testament to his expertise and experience which was a requirement of the hire.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We created a Slack channel for the project, and have daily standups including the Vega IT resource. Ad-Hoc screen shares / calls when required. As we all work remotely, he feels just like any other member of the team.
