We brought TX Labz on as a strategic partner to manage the design and development of our new platform, which will save customers in Australia thousands of dollars. They have been the end-to-end partner in accelerating our launch timeframe. They cover the design, build and QA.

TxLabz helped us from the UX design until the launch of the app. The development is completed in 4 months, setting milestones for every 2 week. We have successfully launched the app and currently working on improvements.

Yes deliverables were completed on time. We had weekly meeting to follow-up on the updates and discuss the improvements. They were clear with the process required to complete the development.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Working with honest and trustworthy people is the most important factor for us which was the most impressive factor for TxLabz. Their technical expertise was really satisfying as well. People working in the company are all easy to communicate with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something TxLabz could have done differently?

We lost some time before starting the project when assigning roles to people; but it was compensated during the development stage and the app was released on time. So the role assignment could have been more clear in the first stage but it's a probable issue in software development. It's important to mention that it didn't cause major problem as the development is completed per the timeline.

Project One was the development of a Zoom-like App that allows the delivery of a high-quality stream of a class on a different user device (eg TV) at 24fps 1080p quality while the teacher can watch the student through their high-quality phone camera, with the teacher being the only one that can see them. The teacher had remote control of the microphone, speakers and also the stream. 

This then was backed up with a full web console where the teacher could see many students at once in a mission control style interface that allowed them to control who they talked to, refined their movements and if need be talk to all at once or repeat a part of the video stream if they didn't do it right. Supporting this was a console that allowed them to upload the videos to the online platform, get detailed analytics of activity and see the revenue that the teacher was earning. A complex project that brings many pieces together and be in sync with new ways for doing things in the middle of Covid.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

To have a product that worked in all conditions. Ran an agile model, so was in constant delivery mode with many parts running parallel with the local backend team.

Delivered on time, and as we learned together what could be done, we were able to quickly respond and change direction as several new ideas were being explored. Didn't follow the normal 2 weekly or monthly sprint model, but a small weekly project model with regular reviews as we were breaking new ideas and had to see if they could be done and, if not, how to make it happen.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It felt like they were a part of our team and not the normal outsourced team that you would ask to do a set of tasks that they had done something close to before and then wait for them to be done. As a startup, this allowed us to quickly learn and move forward as we were breaking new ground, and there was minimal documentation to work from, so it came down to the close working and respectful working environment that was built with them. This meant that they were giving us input to our engineering team as well, and both learning at the same time.

Are there any areas for improvement or something TxLabz could have done differently?

As it was Covid, we could never do a face-to-face which we would have loved to have done.
