Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CIO and head of technology of NexGen Technology. We provide solutions to the casino industry, including ATMs, ticket redemption, POS devices, cash advance services, and more.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Tekbees Inc.?

We needed some development for an ATM recycle machine.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tekbees developed an application for an ATM recycle machine that provides ticket redemption and bill breaking. The app was built in C# and C++. There’s a UI, as well as a backend interface in Cloud for the office. The UI is in AWS and links to the back office for monitoring, reconciling, balancing the machine, and all reporting purposes. Currently, Tekbees provides ongoing support and maintenance for the system.

What is the team composition?

There were 5–6 dedicated people working on the project, but towards the end there were only 3–4 individuals.

How did you come to work with Tekbees Inc.?

I met Andres (CEO) when I worked at a previous company. When we needed to work on this project, I reached out to him because of his experience in ATM development.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around January 2018. That initial project was finished in 2019, but the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We use Jira to track the work they’ve done. Overall, I’m happy with Tekbees' work.

How did Tekbees Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

We receive reports through Jira of their progress and discuss it. When we asked for documentation to see the coding, they wrote it in Spanish so we asked them to redo it in English.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even though they’re offshore, they’re available during the day when we need them. Their team responds quickly to questions and issues we have. What’s more, they have technical skills.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their project management could use improvement. Some deadlines weren’t met, but it wasn’t entirely their fault.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure they know you want documentation in English.
