Project managment was amazing. Sergei is fantasitc to work with. All items were delivered on time and any needs or requests were taken care of quickly. They are a true pleasure to work with.

The quality of service they offered. The business is very trasnsperent, I can see who is working on what when, and what stage they are in. I can ask Sergei questions when ever needed and he always reposned quickly. I was looking for a partnership, not someone ot just write code and hand it to me, story telling was just that, a partnership.

We wanted to develop an iOS application for barbershops to accept in-store credit card payments via a Bluetooth card reader so that customers could pay for their appointments.

We looked for a senior iOS developer with strong experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).

We defined our user stories and prioritised them into multiple app versions. Each app version was a milestone.

We worked with one senior iOS developer, Nik, throughout the project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback that the app is slick and easy to use. The app is clearly very well built because we have had next to no issues so far.

We communicated with Nik via Slack. We provided documentation of our backend APIs and the scope of the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nik is incredibly competent and motivated to produce high quality work. He gets on with the tasks at hand with little guidance, only asking for minor clarifications when our scope is ambiguous. Nik understood the overall aims of the app and was able to advise on how to improve the scope. We are particularly impressed with the test suite that Nik developed for the app.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I cannot fault them. Any issues that arose were addressed quickly throughout the project.

For what projects/services did your company hire Storytelling Software, and what were your goals?

We wanted to build a mobile app for shoppers. Our goal is to build a community for shoppers and connect brands and consumers. While shopping is going more and more online, user generated content is playing bigger role behind consumers purchase decisions. Even though that is crucial and every brand knows that they still don´t have possibility to impact where, when and what kind of content they get.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

After interviewing many vendor Storytelling just felt the best possible option. They really wanted to understand our business, asked right questions, challenged us from the very beginning and we got the feeling that their attitude was more "we want to be part of this hopefully someday big" than "this is our project nr. xx".

We had few discovery calls in order to get everyone deep understanding what we are trying to build. We had some risks we aknowledged and needed to change our scope and basically the mvp product over all. Everything went very smoothly.

We created mutual slack channel and started working with design. They kept us updated. Later on while building an application we had demo meeting biweekly, after every sprint.

CEO was working as a project manager, was really involved and kept everything very organized. He had team of 7 people working with us but I can´t remember their positions.

We have now mvp product ready and on technology wise we are ready for launch.

Through the whole process it was super easy to communicate with them. We felt very updated and all responses happened quickly. Our main channel for communication was slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their skills are amazing. It was super easy to work with these porfessional. Addition it was super fun to work with them. They are nice guys and we felt from the very beginning that they were really interested of our business and us. There were no things impossible to solve. It was only a matter of how.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, I don´t think so. We took huge risk here and didn´t know what to expect. We were first timers, from different country and never met live before signing contract. I am just so glad we chose Storytelling!

They created a platform related to mergers and acquisitions. It was the first of its kind in our country. First, we approached them with our ideas and requirements. Then, we came up with new ideas for the design together. Finally, they implemented everything based on our specifications.

We spent over $26,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2020, and we wrapped up the modifications in October 2020. They completed the initial platform in a month and a half but we had a lot of modifications we wanted to incorporate.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We did tests at every stage of the project to evaluate the code and UX. Based on the tests, they met our expectations after every modification.

They were perfect. The process was smooth and there were no delays from their side. We communicated through Upwork and email.

They understood the concept behind our website and gave us great ideas on how to develop it. They were exactly what we needed in a partner.

We needed help with development. Also, our platform needed to include integrated video.

They designed and developed the website from the ground up, including the databases. They integrated video functions and features into our online educational tool. This included the student login in for live lessons. We also needed the ability for students to do homework and interact with teachers. 

They provided the full range of services. It’s a proprietary platform. I don’t remember the name of the programming languages. They also designed the logos and pages.

What is the team composition?

There are five people and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Storytelling Software?

Before we chose them, we had several interviews and cost estimates. Theirs was not the lowest or highest, but it was a reasonable price with fair contract conditions.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $80,000.

We started working together in June 2020, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The design and the collaboration were perfect. My technical partner says the quality of coding is very high. It’s all consistent.

How did Storytelling Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Before starting the project, we visited the company headquarters because we weren’t that far away.

We have a Slack channel for the whole team and a separate one with the project manager. The project manager is always available. When we send them information and updates at 10 PM, they usually reply within five minutes and confirm it. They’re perfect. 

They used Trello to track the project. We could always see what was going on. My technical partner was able to check the database to look at the technical parts. We had one hiccup, but they warned us well beforehand that we’d be one month over the original deadline. In general, they’re perfect. I appreciate that they’re honest about cost estimates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What I liked the most is that their cost estimates were accurate. They were transparent and honest. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I think they could improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re professionals, and they’re sincere. They have integrity because they never promise something they can’t do. I trust them.

At the moment we don't have any feedback on the downloads, but it won't be long now, but we've noticed a lot of enthusiasm from our current customers who have enjoyed the refreshment.

With the help of tools like Slack and Github that the teams are used to working with, it was child's play.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was blown away by the knowledge these developers had of iOS application development. We learned a lot more than we thought possible, and we appreciated that they were patient and thoughtful while we were upgrading.

Everything can always be done faster, but we were very satisfied with their work every step of the way. In the end, quality is more important than speed and we ended up with a beautiful product.
