Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the president of Fresh Start Peer Support Society, a nonprofit that supports people who are dealing with addiction, family violence, homelessness, among other things. We provide an open door for people to walk in and get help. We've been a society since July 2019, and the concept of our organization has been in the making since 2017. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ScotiaComp Technologies?

We were hoping for IT companies to get involved, specifically in investing their abilities in our project. In the end, we hired ScotiaComp Technologies to provide development services and IT support to our company. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re still developing our services with ScotiaComp. So far, they’ve finished our website. 

They also ensure our internet is working well, and they assist in deciding what equipment we need such as computers. The team closely monitors our system, and they watch out for any security breaches. As our foundation continues to grow, the team’s development work will expand. 

What is the team composition?

They have an IT tech manager and a team that deals with our development and IT needs.

How did you come to work with ScotiaComp Technologies?

We got introduced to ScotiaComp by a friend of a friend. After that, we reached out to them. Then, we had a meeting with ScotiaComp’s IT manager in person where we laid out the direction that we wanted to take and what we wanted to happen. Their presentation was great, and our meeting went well. As a result, we engaged with their team.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing work began in July 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They can hold their ground and they do wonderful work. As far as security breaches are concerned, we’ve never had any issues. 

Moreover, ScotiaComp is always on top of their game, and whenever we’re ready to go to the next stage, they’re always looking right ahead with us. Overall, they care a lot about our organization, and they treat our company as their own. 

How did ScotiaComp Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Microsoft Teams on some occasions, and we also communicate through phone calls. If I need to call or whenever something goes wrong, ScotiaComp is always available. We’ve been truly blessed to partner with them. As we grow, so do their company. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our relationship with ScotiaComp has been special. We’ve also been impressed by how accurately they get things done. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they have no areas to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

There should always be one communication line. That way, ScotiaComp can be effective in accomplishing your requirements.
