Over the past year and a half, our team was put through the ringer, with an eye on constant innovation and improvement. We redesigned our entire application front-end and deployed best practices from a security standpoint. We developed and documented multiple API offerings and enhanced our customers' experience with our company as a whole.

Top line revenue grew exponentally over the course of our engagement. A large part of that was the fact that our application and user experience improved to meet the needs of our customers within their day to day priorities.

Maintained and made enhancements to a web application that is integrated with several data sources.  Multiple improvements to the user interface were made.  New data sources required building out new integrations via API.  This also included testing, logging, de-bugging, as well as managing the sprints of a team of developers.

Deployment of new integrations, new functionality, new features, improved speed, etc.

A project manager is part of the Satellite group we work with.  We have a couple of meetings a week and the remaining days they are pretty self-sufficient, managing the workload themselves.  Delivery is timely, and they are quite responsive to email.

Their team is hardworking and versatile.  I've had many different types of requests and they are always able to suggest and execute on a solution.  The communication and partnership are excellent.

For what projects/services did your company hire Satellite Innovations?

DigiFi engaged Satellite to for a dedicated software development team in Belarus. The team started with 6 engineers and has now scaled to 15 people. This team is responsible for multiple workstreams, including redesigning our main product, rebuilding the UI for our main product, implementing CI/CD deployment and a full website overhaul.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals included: excellent design, end-to-end development (Dev->QA->DevOps) and working with a team that truly cares about our business results.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We decided to build Satellite because it was the best way to achieve a set of strong dedicated engineers, for a transparent cost and putting us in control of the development process.

The main project is a rebuild of DigiFi's loan origination technology, including our

1. Automated Decision Engine (which lets lenders integrate data sources, create rules, build decision workflows and deploy powerful predictive models to automate underwriting and fraud detection — all without needing to write any code)
2. Loan Origination System (with lets lenders streamline end-to-end lending processes through intuitive modern interfaces with built-in underwriting, document management, reporting, e-sign, task automation and customer management capabilities)
3. Custom Digital Lending Portals

What was the team composition?

The current team is: 8 Software Engineers 1 DevOps Engineer 3 UI/UX Designers 1 Project Manager 1 QA Tester 1 IT Business Analyst

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

DigiFi was able to build a 3x larger team, increase specialization of roles and accelerate development - while reducing costs and achieving a higher level of implemented quality. The decision to build with Satellite has been a great success.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between parties is quite straightforward and is simplified by "shifted hours" that Satellite works to ensure timezone overlap. In addition, we make extensive use of Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Slack and G Suite products for collaboration.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Satellite's distinction is it's ability to build a truly dedicated team of excellent staff - and make it "our team" instead of "their team working for us". The private office, clear separation of staff and focus on hiring the right "fit" of staff makes a huge difference. It doesn't feel like outsourcing, but instead like we've opened our own office.

Built an entire financial SaaS application complete with security master, a transactions database, and reporting UI. Very novel feature around financial entity mapping around ultra high net worth clients. Once the main application was done, the team focused on improving the way data was imported into the platform. Used generative AI to automatically extract structured data from unstructured financial documents and load them into our transactions database. 

Finally, built an conversational reporting engine via custom function calling to bring the most relevant customer data into the AI's context window for continued Q&A.

Successfully built all the features that our end client was looking for in a reporting platform. Improved client onboarding from 6 months to 2 weeks. Built cutting edge conversational AI agent on custom financial data

I was assigned a dedicated project manager who ensured that everything was delivered on time. It felt like I was working with an internal team instead of a vendor. The team would often go above and beyond to meet key milestones for our client.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The overall quality of the people vs. the price we paid is unparalleled. Beyond being 3-4x cheaper than an equivalent resource in North America, they generally worked harder and cared more about the project than a typical outsourced vendor would. This level of dedication to the project/company's success doesn't have a price tag.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Satellite Innovations could have done differently?

It's possible that the team didn't need to be as big as it was. However, the cost/person was so low, that I don't think it was an issue.
