Generally, Ropstam BPO Inc. was ahead of schedule when it came to deliverables — the turnaround time on most deliverables was 48 hours. When bugs happened, their team fixed them quickly. 

We usually communicate on Slack and have Zoom calls when necessary. However, we typically send them a Loom video recording of what we want to be done. 

I believe they use Trello for internal project management. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I love that I can give them an idea and what I want to accomplish, and Ropstam BPO Inc. will turn it into a piece of technology very efficiently.

They’re passionate about implementing their app design and are always standing alongside us for a product launch. Anytime I give them more work, the project manager is excited about giving it to his team and seeing the impact the project will make.

In the app development industry, clients get what they pay for. So while Ropstam BPO Inc. might not be the cheapest, you’re paying for the experience — it’s important to consider that when considering looking to hire them.

I’m the CEO of Stanzyk LLC, a digital marketing agency. We help wellness and holistic practitioners and doctors from all walks of life to see and serve more patients. We also have a proprietary technology for managing and communicating with patients and leads.

We needed a custom communication solution that we could use to not only build value for the practices but also create an excitable event when we go to sell. We didn’t have a solid idea about what kind of technology we needed. We had some ideas that we wanted doctors’ offices to be able to communicate with leads in a new digital way because most of them are using paper and pencil.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ropstam BPO Inc. built us a web app and a mobile app. They built both an iOS and Android version of the platform. They included key functionality and features, including two-way texting, phone recording, automated voice drops, voicemails, automated emailing, sequencing, and tagging specifically around wellness-based practices all from scratch.

After a discovery phase, our teams mapped out the strategy, read back that strategy with whiteboarding, and then beta tested it. They built me a small version on the web so I could see what it’d look like. They then did the whole design.

We tweaked the design and the tech side of it. After phase one was complete and tested, we moved on to phase two. After completing phase two of testing, we’re now working on phase three.

We work with 8-10 people from the Ropstam BPO Inc. team. We have three main points of contact.

The owner is highly recommended in the field. He built Canada.gov along with a big chunk of Walmart’s e-commerce platform. They've also built a ton of apps. I was the digital marketing consultant for another app that was being developed and he was the developer on that. I saw how he works and I saw how his team works and his strategy.

A lot of people can build apps but they’re terrible at strategic implementation. What I liked about him is he’s really good at mapping the applicability. I’ll tell him what I want and he’ll share what he thinks will be better. He doesn’t just take orders. He can think. I referred them out to five other clients who feel the same way.

So far, we have invested around $47,000. This month it will jump to $60,000.

Our ongoing engagement began in June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s really a beautiful app. It’s very seamless with an amazing user interface. Someone who has no tech experience can open this app, use it, and have an immediate win with the system rather than be confused or lost for days.

The metrics would be consistency and good communication. They took what I wanted and had made in Illustrator and mapped it almost perfectly. People say it looks great and it's easy. The app almost functions like a video game, where you can see your progress.

Project management is like marriage, it’s a two-way street. The project is managed really well. There is clear communication between teams and a clear understanding of the billing. In some cases, he didn’t charge me everything. It’s been a unique learning experience for us.

Ropstam BPO Inc. is really responsive. What I appreciated was sometimes if I was having a communication issue with the staff, I’d message the owner directly and we’d talk it out. He’d always hold himself and his team accountable.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their prices are competitive in the market. I liked that. This app would easily cost $100,000 outside. Ropstam BPO Inc. built very complicated features.

Their dedication to their clients is really impressive. The owner is always available by phone. From a business perspective, he’s so committed. If I need him in a second, I just Slack him. Communication is really easy. I get to see inside 80% of the chat their team has internally. The owner is great at client services.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Expectations and timing are always a challenge. The project got pushed probably 30-45 days longer than it could have. It’s not a gripe. We worked it out.

Be certain of the core functionality that you want built in phase one. Get that done and test it. Make sure you come prepared. He has a design team but maybe hire an external designer to provide additional feedback. They do design. I might still get a web designer to redesign the web version because it’s less than the mobile version.

We needed help building our software and internet presence. We had another company that was working on our platform and we weren’t happy with the way the project was progressing. We hired Ropstam BPO to take the project up from scratch.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re creating our web and mobile app from scratch. The app is for iOS and Android. Initially, they picked up where the previous company left off. After a bit, we decided to start over because the look and feel weren’t up to date. They created a new design and we approved it. Currently, they’re working on development.

There were three avenues we were looking at –– the job seeker, the employer, and other staffing agencies. Typically, a job seeker can go on their phone and see if any jobs match their abilities. The employer can go in and see all of the job seekers listed and who’s available to work. The job seeker can upload any certificates and any other particular things they need, like a work visa.

The agencies can see what job requirements an employer has posted and if they have a surplus of employees, they can post them on our site. Conversely, if they need personnel, they can take employees from our platform and allocate them to a specific employer. The platform has a chatroom where you can set up and schedule interviews.

They also integrated functionality where we identify the location of an individual on the phone, so an employer could see if they were on their way to work or still at home. Additionally, users can clock in through their phones.

We found them on Upwork. One of my more technically savvy colleagues presented me with about 3–4 different options from the platform. After interviewing all of them, it became clear that Wali was the right choice. He had a sense of what I wanted, in terms of his ability to understand that.

They evaluated our platform in May 2020, and we hired them to manage the project in August 2020. Our work is ongoing.

I’m impressed with the quality. We haven’t launched yet, but I’ve seen the workings of it already. We have a fairly robust sandbox where we can go through and be any of the three varieties of users. I have a background in being an employer and I have a sense of how it should work. I’m very impressed. Wali and his team were able to accommodate all of our feature requests.

Wali gave us a statement of work and he hit every milestone on time. We added features along the way that pushed the timeline back a bit, but Wali is always very punctual. We communicate via email, phone, and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team communicates very well. It’s very refreshing. Whenever I needed anything all I had to do was call. The changes that we need happen almost instantaneously. With our previous vendor, updates and fixes seemed to take forever.

No, nothing comes to mind. Our relationship is like a partnership. They give us a heads-up on things we haven’t thought about. The team works with us.

My advice is to be clear with your expectations and know what you want. We wrote everything down to be as transparent as possible. If you communicate clearly, everything will turn out fine.

Having only launched six months ago, we’re fairly new. The challenge we’re trying to address is we want to continue our footprint in our growth, and demonstrate our presence in the marketplace. We figured the only way we can do that is to create a mobile app for both iOS and Android. And that’s what Wali (Founder & CEO) and his team at Rostpam are helping us with.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have a website that is already in existence. Basically, his services were to replicate and enhance the consumer experience via a mobile app.

They mainly focused on developing the mobile app and designing the UI/UX of the application. They’re developing this app for the iOS and Android platforms.

Additionally, we went through a discovery phase for the design articulation of the website. With respect, they suggested further improvements that could be made to our website, as he launched into the mobile app development. We provided the wireframes we used when we developed the website to help him better understand how it works, and what the key functions were.

We’re currently in the third cycle of our QA testing to make sure everything is working the way it’s supposed to.

I don’t have a specific number for you, but I know he has front- and backend developers supporting him. However, one of the beauties of dealing with Wali, is that I only had to deal with him — he is the face of Ropstam.

Better1 is part of a group of companies being held by a larger company. We got the recommendation of Ropstoam from one of our sister companies — who created an app using them as well. When we endeavored to move on to our app development phase, the recommendation came naturally.

We started working with Ropstam in September 2020. We launched in mid-June, and our partnership remains ongoing.

From a client’s standpoint, Wali has good empathy for the business. He understands what we’re looking for, and anticipates the questions that we would have. He made a number of suggestions that made improvements to the eventual and final outcome.

We’re on time, on budget, and because of that empathy, even if we divert a little, I don’t think Ropstam would charge us for it. He understands the overall direction of what we want to achieve and sticks to it.

How did Ropstam BPO Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

We would have formal meetings every Monday, and then the required intermittent meetings throughout the week. I would have an internal IT staff meeting with him as well in order to get things done. Slack is the predominant way in which we would communicate, but our calls would mostly be done on Hangouts and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a holistic view of what the business is trying to achieve. Wali's way of thinking results in us getting a better product. I’ve worked with a lot of developers where they would say “ask for this and you get that”, but the end product wouldn’t be optimized the way we wanted.

With Ropstam, they present the latest thinking and they tell us what we need to build and what the budget will be — it’s a much more open discussion.

It’s hard to tell from my level, but their communication is good and they articulate the metrics quite well. Nothing major comes to mind.

I would advise them to spend the time as we did in the design process, and make sure they understand what they’re trying to achieve from a business perspective.
