I am the Founder & CEO of ATHENNO - the world's #1 continuous discovery, JTBD B2B SaaS platform, and community for modern product-led teams, as well as entrepreneurs. I was thinking of something like ATHENNO for years and decided to make it a reality this year. While I had a design prototype, I needed a real MVP launched to help me with fundraising. Because I am a solid ex-software architect and engineer myself who used Laravel stack, I was looking for a full 0-1 development partner with such skills and on a budget.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have reached out to multiple agencies over the months, and I came across Redberry through their official partnership with Laravel and many other ecosystems. I quickly connected with the Redberry Founder & CEO - Gaga. As a person with technical background himself, we could quickly connect and find a common understanding.

He is very flexible, and with Redberry I felt like I quickly found an extension to my own in-house team, and made new friends in a few weeks. Redberry is not a typical agency, and they are also the best and the largest in the region, moreover, with the best rates!

We started with multiple calls with the executive team, including CTO to figure out what could be an option for us to engage, and specific technologies to pick for the project. We ended up setting everything up over DigitalOcean, Laravel backend repo, and React+Nextjs frontend repo with Tailwind CSS and Tailwind UI, and finally Nova admin panel, to make the development process faster and smoother without sacrificing aesthetics.

In the end, we integrated Mixpanel analytics. I was designing a full prototype in Figma and while I didn't need pixel perfection, I needed ATHENNO to look clean and modern.

Another main reason I like Redberry is that for consultants like myself, I can manage my own projects directly, and I just need specific talent to fill the gaps. That means that with ATHENNO I only had engineers I needed, from CTO to sr full-stack engineer to jr frontend and backend engineer.

I was managing the entire project on their behalf myself. Sr engineer helped supervise more jr team members and do code reviews. Directly talking to people who actually do the work itself without any middleman is very important for me. This is something I have never seen, and why I love Redberry. However, this might not be an option for many clients.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

ATHENNO is now launched with 8 modules, including a lot of custom and scientific features, and this is only the beginning. In less than a month since its launch - ATHENNO has 40 users, and 26 organizations signed up. Potential customers and partners gave extremely positive feedback so far. ATHENNO is now a part of the Techstars Rising Stars community in the US. We continue our relationship with Redberry.

As previously stated, in this case, I was managing everything directly myself, which is important for me. We use Notion, Miro, Slack, and GitHub Ne projects for code reviews. Everything I do is 100% modern, empowered, and product-led where experiments are encouraged. Even if I was giving clear directions and providing clear designs, I was happy to see Redberry team members' own initiatives.

For example, I liked the icons they picked instead of the ones in the design more. It was also fine to experiment with different libraries and potential solutions. Or when they suggested that something doesn't make sense and how they would solve that problem. We started from 2 weekly Zoom calls and later moved to just one.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Most unique agency experience I ever had. It felt like in a few weeks I hired an in-house team and made new friends. If you are a consultant with a technical background and modern product leadership experience, then what I liked the most is that I could get only the talent I needed, everything was flexible, and I could talk directly to people actually doing the job myself without a middleman.

Largest and top agency in the region. Honest, customer-obsessed, modern. Not to mention the best rates (compared to NA or Central EU prices), yet sometimes with even better quality. Aw, and they even have their own BootCamp!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They could also teach their jr engineers and within their BootCamp BASICS of modern product management, statistics, data science software architecture patterns... How to create their own frameworks in order to understand how modern magic frameworks like Laravel or libraries like Axios or React do their job... But most importantly to teach teammates to write reusable mathematical logic, not necessarily features in order to save time on refactoring later.

Understanding the principles of functional programming, mathematical notation and composition can help here. This, however, is a hard skill to master even for senior talent. Since more and more products are becoming smarter, more complex, data-driven, scientific, and analytical to some extent at least, it is crucial to becoming an expert in this kind of science as well.

I’m the founder and director of a startup company, and I’m creating a platform to help small businesses manage their operations better. This platform would serve as a toolkit SaaS product for those small businesses.

We needed help with developing our SaaS platform and website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redberry is building the technology behind our platform using Laravel. This platform is aimed to help small businesses with their different operational needs like managing sales, managing projects, sending out digital signatures, and managing employees. It does about 20% of what other SaaS platforms do, but it covers all the essential needs small businesses have at a very low cost. Currently, we’re building some training courses in which Redberry helps us as well.

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with one of Redberry’s developers. Although we’ve also worked with two other junior developers, our main developer is who has been in charge of the entire project.

How did you come to work with Redberry?

Redberry was a recommended Laravel partner. Given that it was the development framework we wanted to use, we reached out to 2–3 Laravel partners and ended up choosing Redberry. Based on our conversations, they seemed to be the best fit for us at the right price.

We’ve spent between £30,000–£50,000 (approximately $38,000–$63,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. We’re looking to launch our product soon.

Redberry offers good support and delivers quality work.

How did Redberry perform from a project management standpoint?

Redberry’s communication is very good. They’re also very flexible in enabling me to use my own resources, which is very good. Initially, they came up with a suitable package for me in line with how I wanted this project to go. I just wanted resources that could help me develop the product because I didn’t want to go through project managers to make change requests.

I have a shared Slack channel with Redberry’s developer, where we discuss what we need to build next, talk about the challenges involved, and come up with a solution together. Of course, other resources from their team also help us when needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The people from Redberry whom I’ve talked with are genuinely nice. Their team is friendly and helpful, and no task is too big for them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’ve been very happy with them.

When looking for a partner, do your due diligence, ask for examples of their past work, and try to speak to former customers beforehand.

As a small developer focused company in Norway it's difficult to find affordable and reliable employees. We were contacted by Redberry and they offered to extend our team with experienced developers and we could work directly with the developers without any management in between which suited our needs perfectly.

It was very helpful that they were a Laravel partner. That gave us more confidence that they would be a reliable business partner. In the beginning we started with a small project and some less complex tasks to determine if they would be a good fit, which they turned out to be.

We've not yet launched the service so there are no metrics yet, but we're much closer now. We would not have been able to build this product without Redberry's help.

We managed the project inhouse and their developers extended our team. The communication was great. We used slack to communicate daily and had bi-weekly meetings using google meet or zoom.

We had direct access to the developers which meant that we could discuss the technical aspects and find good solutions before implementing business rules in code.

The quality of work was great. Some implementations could have been discussed in more detail before execution

Our client, Valentino beauty, wanted to create a new O+O experience for the Mother's Day 2022 animation. We designed a configurator to create a personalized greeting card. We were looking for a partner to do the development part of the experience, and plug it into the Valentino Beauty's existing website.

Our goal was to find a partner to do the development with, eager to challenge our work and propositions to make the experience even better together.

We heard of Redberry from a connection working there. We asked several vendors and chose to go with Redberry for their reactivity, eagerness and professionalism.

We've worked on several steps on this project: working both on the back and the front of the experience. Redeberry shared with us their progress through different meetings where we were able to gove feedbacks. All feedbacks had always been quickly applied, especially thanks to the slack channel created by the Redberry project manager.

We worked manily with a project manager from Redeberry, but also has direct contacts with the developers working on the project.

We don't have yet KPIs results, but had the statisfcation from our end client, Valentino Beauty, on the experience delivered.

The Redberry team is easily reachable, answers quickly to questions and ensure that the project is going well. They created a Slack channel reuniting both our teams, it really helped us being in daily contacts and being able to ask questions and having a swift answers.

They made the whole process easy. Everything seemed easisly solvable with them and they offer a real support on projects.

One of our customers in the automotive industry wanted to implement a web application, so we brought on Redberry to help with the process. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redberry has provided us with software development and QA services. For this project, their full stack developer created a web-based application using HTML based on our UX design, which our customer also had input on. The app's goal was to improve users' productivity when finding car and banking information. The app had user and request management systems and bank and data integrations. The final deliverable could be integrated into a car dealer's website but can also be used as a standalone app. Once the app was complete, Redberry's team QA'd each aspect of the product.

We worked with two teammates from Redberry on this project, including a QA teammate and a full stack developer.

I found Redberry through my social network. We connected several times before hiring them.

This project began in December 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We had high expectations for Redberry on this project regarding their independence and technical skills, but Redberry's team met them. We only received positive feedback from our customer, who appreciated the product — it looked nice and was delivered to their expectations. While some changes were made, that was not unusual for the development process.

How did Redberry perform from a project management standpoint?

Redberry had direct contact with our customer after I served as a liaison between them for a few months. Our customer provided Redberry with direct feedback, which yielded positive results. Redberry met our iteration and release deadlines, managing the project on GitHub and communicating through Microsoft Teams. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Redberry has highly professional developers who can work independently. They invest time in figuring out how to improve products without relying on my team for every direction. Redberry is very motivated and invested in software concept development. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have nothing for Redberry to improve. Whenever we have issues, Redberry is flexible and makes adjustments to meet our needs.

I'd advise customers looking for software development partners, especially with expertise in PHP and Laravel, to hire Redberry because they will receive professional deliverables.

Carfest is a digital car dealership — the first of its kind in Georgia. I’m the head of product development and marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Redberry?

We saw that Redberry called themselves a digital transformation agency, and we figured that that’s what our car dealership needed. We wanted to transform and digitalize our services for our users.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redberry developed our e-commerce website and helped us with its marketing. We started with the product and framework design, user personas for our business, journey maps, and prototypes of the website which included payment options. Their team built out our online store in a way that could allow people to have a 360-degree view of the cars they’re browsing. The site also displays a video of each vehicle along with its specifications and guarantee information.

Redberry used Vue.js for the frontend of our website and Laravel for the backend.

We worked with about 7–10 people from Redberry.

How did you come to work with Redberry?

We chose to work with them because their customer service was perfect and their pricing was a good fit for us.

The product development portion of the project cost us around $50,000–$60,000 USD. We also use their marketing services and have invested about the same amount, so in total, we’ve spent between $100,000–$120,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April–May 2019. Our partnership is ongoing.

We wouldn’t have been able to transform our business without Redberry’s help. We’re now selling about 100–150 cars a month, which is quite good for us.

Their customer service and management of the project are perfect. They complete what they said they will on time and without any issues.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Redberry is a master in the technologies they used, especially in Laravel. They had great customer service, competitive pricing, and reliable project scheduling. They were perfect all around.

Hire them for their marketing services because they’ve done very well for us. They’re very good at it.

We are a food delivery system that caters to employees and we have an app that customers can order through. We’ve also partnered with employers and companies who pay for their workers’ meals.

We needed to create an MVP for our services so we turned to Redberry.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Redberry created an iOS and Android app for us, both of which are available in app stores. The team utilized React Native for the development of the apps. Currently, they are making some minor changes and updates since a lot of our customers have transitioned to a work-from-home arrangement.

The agile team consisted of four developers — two for the frontend and two for the backend — along with a full-time DevOps engineer, QA tester, product designer, and UX designer.

Our former CEO used to work for Redberry prior to founding our company. He was the one who chose that team.

Our current users are very happy with the app and pur weekly growth and conversions are also looking great. We currently have about 17,500 orders to achieve, with up to 300 users making orders daily. A good number of our customers who’ve been working from home are now slowly moving back to their offices, but we’ve retained 91% of them.  

How did Redberry perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re very satisfied with Redberry’s work. They meet all of the deadlines and have ensured that the app is up and running at all times. We work on a two-week Scrum Sprint and communicate through Google Chat and Jira. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We've learned a lot from our partnership with Redberry. Even for a non-technical person like myself, working with their team has been very easy. They've been very professional and hardworking. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work on the updates more quickly, but then again it might be difficult given the circumstances. Other than that, we have no complaints.

I would definitely recommend future customers to hire the team. I've worked with other companies before and no one has come close to the quality of Redberry’s services.

LTD Axis Group is the largest development company in Georgia. The company has several ongoing construction sites, manly focused on residential buildings. The largest project developed by the company is Axis Towers, this are two identical twisted towers unified by a pedestal. This building unifies 5 directions of development: residential, A-class business center, entertainment, 5 star hotel and shopping Center. My position in the company is Brand Manager of Axis Towers.

The main challenge of the website for which development LTD Axis Group hired Redberry was to develop lifestyle webpage. The old web page, developed also by Redberry is sales oriented. As the construction of the Building is over and 3 from 5 functions already are in operation, the main objective was to give people very clear information and show them what is happening in this huge complex and find easily for him suitable and interesting activities.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

the vendor was selected based on bidding. There were 3 biggest creative companies who represented their ideas about the Axis Towers web site. We found the offer of Redberry more innovative and suitable for our project. We also considered the many ears experience and knowledge that Redberry has of Axis Towers project.

From the beginning we prepared creative brief, to give Redberry the clear understanding what were expecting from the new web site. After that Redberry presented mockup and wireframes, We had ZOOM meetings every week and were discussing the sketches and frames they presented to us. They where open to our ideas and were flexible to add or exclude something from the wireframes. For better visualization they presented their work in Figma.

The tasks assignments were made in google sheets. After we, both sides agreed on wireframes Redberry started Frontend development ( Vue JS Framework (Vue 3 version)) and the last stage was Backend development (PHP (Laravel Framework)).

Project manager, who was the main contacts for us. We had also communication with designer on the stage of wireframes development. There were also: Lead Developer, Back-end developer, 2 frontend developers, 2 Quality Assurance Staff members, UX/UI Developer, Dev/ops engineer. Totally 10 persons.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We haven’t launched the new site yet, therefore we can not share any measurable outcome. At the moment we are filling site with content and we still have very close collaboration with Redberry. Despite of they already have fulfilled all works written in contract they help when needed and answer on all our questions.

We had daily communication with project manager, who was distributing the tasks among the team. They were very accurate in timing and always aimed to complete their work within deadlines. If something was going wrong and they needed more time, we had clear understanding why this happened , and how fast this work will be done.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Professionalism, flexibility, good taste, customer orientation. they are not seeking of easy ways of problem solution. It was my first time working on a web site project and I was posing many annoying questions. But the project manager was explaining everything calm and with patience to me.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As I already mentioned I’m filling the web site with content, and it happens that some bugs appear. Redberry has shared a google sheet document with me where I am adding bugs or questions that I have. They are fixing bugs and answering questions in a short timing.

Our website was very old and was not compatible with new devices and technologies any more. We needed a new website designed in accordance to our renewed brand identity that would be the digital portfolio for our architectural practice.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

As our team had a very positive experience with Redberry while working on Fabrika Tbilisi and Fabrika Hostel websites, we approached the team for the proposal on our architectural practice website. Their professional attitude to clients, working in promised deadlines and strategic approach to problem resolution were the main deciding factors to choose to work with Redberry.

Project scope included creating webpage's UX/UI design, developing the project, testing it, and deploying it on our server. During the project Redberry:

1. Created the design wireframes first and agreed on them with us.
2. After agreeing the wireframes, Redberry worked on design Art direction based on our brand-book, they prepared a small Art Direction deck that was also agreed with us.
3. Redberry's next step was designing the product's UI. Which was also confirmed by us in the end.
4. After the design works team began developing the product. There were several changes by us in the scope that were agreed upon during the process.
5. During the development works, Redberry's QA was involved in testing the product. In parallel at some point in the project, Redberry shared a testing environment so that we could track the progress of development works.
6. After the development works were finished, dev team ensured deploying it on our server.

After launching the website our traffic to the website increased from 0 to average 3000 unique visitors per month that is quite good amount for the size of our practice an market. The website design allows us to use it as a practice profile for the potential clients as we are sure that the website works without errors.

Redberry used Scrum methodology during the design and development phases of the project. We communicated via E-mail or a special Whatsapp Group.

We were impressed with their strategic approach to every problem. Paying attention to details and the most important things. Being transparent and proactive in communication with clients on all the stages of the project.

A boutique advisory firm, which has been working closely with public sector leaders around the world since 2012, helping them to design formulas and strategies for rapid economic growth as well as innovative approaches to public policy. My position at that time was Analyst, and project coordinator for web development.

We hired redberry to develop our company's new webpage that would meet new trends of web development.

Redberry is a famous and large agency in the Georgian market. We had an interview with them and subsequently hired the company.

The outcome was the webpage, we were looking for. The traffic or clicks were not our aim, so we do not measure.

Communication with Redberry was done through emails and cellphone, and several meetings during the project lifetime. I do not know what project management style they had internally.

Redberry was easy to communicate with. They explained each step, also came up with some creative ideas, for example, how to link our company's services to implemented projects.

Overall deadline of submission of the project was little bit delayed, otherwise no other areas for improvement can be made.
