I'm the marketing specialist for Industrial Flow Solutions (IFS), a company that designs, manufactures, and services wastewater pumps and controls for municipal, industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Our goal is to help clients lower costs, increase efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.

What challenge were you trying to address with OuterBox?

We needed help improving our digital presence across the board. Our primary goals were to increase organic traffic through stronger SEO, improve our Google rankings, and drive more qualified leads to our website. We also wanted a partner who could support us with paid media strategy and overall website optimization to ensure we were getting the most out of our online efforts.

Our VP of Sales and Marketing at the time had previously worked with OuterBox at one of his former companies. He had such a positive experience that we decided to explore the possibility of switching from our local vendor. At the time, we were really struggling with our existing partner — they lacked enthusiasm for our product and didn't seem invested in our success. Making the switch to OuterBox was a refreshing and much-needed change.

We chose OuterBox because they genuinely seemed interested in our product and our long-term success. Unlike other options we considered, it didn't feel like they were just trying to make a sale. They took the time to understand our goals and showed a real commitment to helping us grow our overall digital presence.

We started working with OuterBox in August 2022, and the project is ongoing.

We've seen an increase in the number of SEO terms that have moved to page one, and OuterBox continues to work with us to enhance and optimize our digital presence. With the constantly evolving digital landscape, their role is never truly finished — they're always looking for new ways to improve our website, SEO, and overall strategy to keep us ahead of the curve.

OuterBox's project management is excellent. They always deliver on time. We communicate through two in-person meetings, monthly virtual meetings, phone calls, and emails.

For the site creation, OuterBox/TopSpot created the design and CMS setup.   We collaborated on content.  They continued to host after it was published.  After several years with the original site, we're in the process of an update using much the same methodology and delivereables.

For the ongoing SEO and PPC programs, they provide monthly analysis and keyword updates on our pages.  We routinely get reports on our traffic, user behaviour, PPC spend and overall strategy results.

For site creation, it was the launch of the new site several years ago.  For the site update, we have a clear sitemap, design, and timeline for tasks with regular updates.

For SEO and PPC, our measurable outcomes were based on traffic, conversions, and optimized use of PPC spend.

Yes, generally their contributions were ahead of ours or on the same pace.  They were responsive to things that slowed us down or created confusion and delay.  We could usually drop a note and get a quick response and they often set up virtual meetings for progress and discussion.

I've always liked their focus on B2B, particularly with industrial or manufacturing emphasis.  I feel that's unique and that they understand our needs in that regard.  We're not a big, flashy brand for consumers and that type of strategy wouldn't fit for us.

Not much.  If anything, some of the project management systems they use, like ClickUp, seem overly confusing to me.  But my interaction with it is minimal and they help me avoid the need to become immersed in using the software so I can focus on the project itself.
