BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the president of a design agency in Orange County, California. I’ve been doing print and online advertising for about 20 years.

What challenge were you trying to address with Osiya Tech?

I handle design and rebranding for my clients. When there’s development work to be done, I call on their team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Working across a wide range of industries, the team handles development and implementation on client sites. They’re also doing mobile app development as requested. Covering all of our bases, they managed both front- and backend development for us. They work mostly in CSS and WordPress.

Sometimes, I include them on conference calls with my clients. That way, they can answer development-based questions if our clients have them. Otherwise, I handle most of the project management between my partners and their team.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with a senior project manager, but I’m occasionally in contact with the CSS or WordPress team. Depending on the project, I’m working with 5–10 resources.

How did you come to work with Osiya Tech?

It was many years ago, but I believe that I found them on a freelancer site. At that point, their CEO was just branching off from a prior role to start his own company. A year later, he had is own employees and development staff. By that time, we were already collaborating.

How much have you invested with them?

In total, we spent around $120,000 on their work.  

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with their team since around April 2010.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our clients are getting solid returns on the work Osiya Tech has produced for them. Overall, they’re pleased with the design, the site’s responsiveness, and our turnaround time.  

How did Osiya Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

I speak with them on a daily basis. Depending on which projects are active, we may talk more or less often. We do Zoom screen sharing if we need to go over certain details that are difficult to verbalize.

Otherwise, we communicate through email and conference calls. In the pasted we used Asana, depending on how many resources we have dedicated to a project. They also use Basecamp internally. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a deadline-oriented, reliable team. I can always trust them when they provide me with accurate cost and timeline estimates. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

As our relationship has grown, I’ve noticed them getting more confident in different areas. Their communication style has definitely improved over time. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have them quote your project instead of immediately going with a larger firm. Boutique firms are going to provide more personalized attention. You don’t merely get stuck in a process.
