For what projects/services did your company hire OCTAGT, and what were your goals?

The is a high demand for booking apps during pandemic times. The challenge was to tailor the right product to meet certain criteria such: Directory listing, customizable templates for business to create service schedules, personnel and locations, real-time, user friendly mobile application for the users to find and book an appointment. The digital product must offer those features and more.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I've worked with Erick S. in the past. I know him for his deep technology knowledge, and excellent customer service. This product present a high level of architectural degree as well and some moving requirements that may be developed as we progress. Octa GT offered me a flexible and agile development style that help me accomplished the product on time.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

They design a modern digital product app using the best tools from AWS including advance use of micro-services, SOLR/LUCENE search engines and other architectural component to helps to solution to scale at best. The UI was based on Angular material.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The project team was: one Architect, one Project Manager, two back end engineers, one web front end engineer, one mobile front end engineer and one QA.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The bulk of the project was delivered on a record time of 3 months with less than 5% of critical bugs. Consequent changes and production tuning were delivered on time and we have a smooth transition to production is less than 2 weeks.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The communication was keen and on point. We used agile dev suing the tool Click-up to follow up on task and issues.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The ability to capture non-well-documented requirements, and the flexibility to adapt to changes and new requirements. They had impressive backend architecture.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is always room for improvement, such better handling of CI. But the responsiveness and quick intervention covered such difficulties along the road.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the solution architect at Atem Corportation. We provide services for Dynamics CRM and Dynamics GP.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with OCTAGT?

We’re starting a new product called Dynamix GP 365, which is where OCTAGT comes in, because we needed a web application and other services.

The biggest challenge with our new product was staffing. We didn’t have enough resources internally to build a product, so we looked for outsourcing resources to build certain parts of our web application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We contacted them for their experience in .NET development. We hired them to do the fronted of our web portal, which is a centralized hub where our customers will have access to all of our services. We created a plethora of different application that manage different areas of their finance operation connected to the ERP.

OCTAGT was in charge of deploying the application to the Asha Cloud and building a login registration process, and managing the frontend of the security management for our customers.

What is the team composition?

I had one main point of contact named Erick (CEO, OCTAGT). I also worked with two developers indirectly.

How did you come to work with OCTAGT?

The founder of the company and I worked on a project together previously. I knew he was knowledgeable and his past work, which is why I decided to work with his company.

How much have you invested with them?

The budget for this project is $13,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in May 2019, and this phase wrapped up in August 2019. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Overall, we’re very happy with their contributions. Our main metric for success was portal launching on the projected date, which was achieve. All of the tests passed in their estimated times as well.

 They went above and beyond in automating the deployments, which reduced all of our deployment times; it’s something we didn’t request but it’s definitely part of why we’ll continue to work with them for phase two in October.

How did OCTAGT perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very responsive, and we schedule Microsoft Teams meetings every week to gauge progress. We use Agile methodology, and the meetings cover sprint planning, and functionality presentations.

We found a few bugs close to the end of deployment, and they were always available even with the time difference. We’re in different countries, so we had a 2-hour time difference, but they were usually adapted to our schedule.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Overall, we appreciated their willingness to help and solve problems that we had. They have a lot of experience in .NET, and the other technologies that the applications require. They always had the resources to complete whatever we threw at them. They never backed down from the challenge, which was really important to us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One thing we didn’t achieve was some documentation, for which we had certain expectations. We expect to have all the documentation, testing, uses cases, and other elements for the design process we requested to be delivered in the second phase.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be patient, and not be too concerned about their writing in emails. . It’s important to acknowledge that English is not their first language and they communicate best in phone calls

OCTAGT provided development services for a web application, services for tablets application to control all the two restaurants begin for the order and finished with the pay in every tablet.

We check OCTA's experience to be able to assign them the project and confirm their development and engineering

We started by presenting the project to OCTA, they proposed the solution and we executed it. Starting from the development of the application on the PC, we continue with the application of the tablets and we finish with the communication interface towards the robot.

There were 4 people, 2 engineers and 2 programmers

The satisfaction of our clients with having a restaurant with technology and applications made to measure and also the confidence generated by the fact that a whole system controls everything

OCTAGT's management style is to first review the needs and then propose ideas

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The best thing I found about OCTAGT was that there was no need to look for many pieces to create a well-made puzzle.

It is a unique project that I don't think I can handle it any other way.
