I’m the founder and CEO of an online proctoring company. We provide solutions that allow students and candidates to take assessments online. To ensure that users can’t cheat, we monitor their screens and record them through their webcam. This allows us to maintain the integrity of the process.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with OCloud Solutions?

We needed someone to build our Google Chrome extension and develop our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

OCloud Solutions built our website and Google Chrome extension from scratch. First, we discussed our needs and gave them our designs, which we created using Figma. We worked closely with them on the frontend development and software architecture, and we gave them continuous feedback on its functionalities. 

The website and extension have already been launched, but OCloud Solutions continues to improve them. The website features our solution and what we do. Meanwhile, the extension is integrated with our assessment platform, and its primary function is to secure the testing process.

I found them on Upwork. I saw their portfolio and saw that they had fulfilled many projects similar to what we wanted.

We’ve spent $30,000.

We started working together in December 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re delighted with what they’ve done — they’re an excellent team, and I’d give them more than five stars if I could. Thanks to them, we’ve successfully launched the project. Our users are very happy.

How did OCloud Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is great. OCloud Solutions works very quickly and is responsive. We use Slack and Google Meet to communicate, and they’re fluent in English. Overall, working with them is very easy, so it’s been an excellent partnership.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re most impressed by their expertise and ability to understand our needs. They’re a very professional and intelligent team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be more proactive instead of waiting for our feedback first.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be afraid to take some time explaining your project. Just share everything, and they’ll understand your ideas. Slack is also very useful.

For what projects/services did your company hire OCloud Solutions, and what were your goals?

We required a professional platform to allow large amounts of users to play online escape rooms in real-time. It required state of the art technology, high performance and coding that matched the UI designs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Initially found via Upwork, we immediately knew that OCloud was going to be a solid partner. Work was of high quality and turned around quickly.

Initially we created designs and the DB structure. This was then used to create a first version of the website. We then used a project management tool to work in an Agile fashion and built out the platform.

Mainly worked with a full-stack developer who was able to deliver whatever the requirements were.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

By now the platform has been used by over 100,000 people with just positive feedback. It looks professional, works great and has been reliable.

Communication was done over Slack and OCloud is basically available whenever required.

The high quality delivered in a short amount of time.

Communication over long distance is always tricky, but in general very happy with OCloud as a partner.

OCloud provides coding services to our team. Muhammad has done a good job in supporting us month over month on front end work. He is prompt on communications and flexible on his hours to deliver the features we need. His knowledge of front end react shows that he has many years of experience under his belt.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected the vendor based on his knowledge of not only front end react, but he also has full stack experience.

We have the AWS stack (React, Amplify Client, AppSync, Cognito) and Muhammad was very familiar with working with AWS technologies and has strong experience working with React.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to successfully scale up a PWA application

They were communicative and were always available to respond to our questions.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Areas of improvement include:

1. It takes a few iterations sometimes for the completed UI to match designs. However, Muhammad is always available to resolve quickly, As well, more experience on Google Material UI would be helpful to round out his knowledge base.
2. Pushing tickets when all defects have been resolved. There were a few instances where there's points of contention with additional hours being added to resolve developer defects for scope of work agreed upon.
