BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am VP R&D in WhoDoYou. WhoDoYou providing digital advertising solutions for small and medium businesses across US and Canada.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Naviteq LTD?

We had a wide amount of microservices managed with docker compose. On certain step it become very difficult to maintain and deploy theses microservices, specially to deal with auto scaling during the heavy traffic.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I talked to few companies who provide devops as a service and decided to choose Naviteq because they were the only one who really understood our problem and provided a straightforward solution with detailed explanation of why it will work better then what we had.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

First we discussed our current infrastructure situation and built a road map of how we will upgrade it without hurting the development process. Naviteq suggested to use Ingress + Kubernetes instead of our self-made solution on top of docker compose. Their team received access to our AWS account and started to build the new infrastructure.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had a team lead and 2 devopses working with us.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The migration to kubernetes was a great success, we were able to solve our deployment problems and downtimes during the heavy traffic. Having outsourced devopsses also helped us to use our developers time more effectively.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication was great, Naviteq team was always available via phone and messages. Their devops picked working hours to be in the same time zone as our dev team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I really liked how quick Naviteq was able to understand the problem of our old infrastructure and provide solutions. They are also one of very few companies, we worked with, who followed deadlines.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing.
