The scope of work was a web app to manage our in person students. They used React for the frontend and AWS for the backend.

We were in contact with one project manager through out the whole project and it went very smooth. We also met with the developers once.

This software has improved our workflow by 3-4X. It has resolved the headache of scheduling students and worrying about conflicts. It also has put all of our student / tutor data in one place.

The project management was as smooth as I can imagine. Ali managed this project and he understood the scope and product so well. They added their own touch to everything, which made the process a lot better.

This was an internal admin tool so we weren’t expecting crazy good design but moontek went out of their way to make the most beautiful admin portal we’ve ever seen

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think one improvement could’ve been the way they handle requested changes. There was too much email back and forth

We hired MoonTek to create a website for our lawprentice platform. This platform includes a course based dashboard which guides the students through a series of Bar lectures, quizzes, and more to help them become a lawyer. The goal was to increase the efficiency of how we teach our students.

We were searching for a 'technical co-founder' and wanted to hire someone with business experience. Ali from MoonTek was perfect for this. He had started several companies and understood our product's vision very well.

This is a large on going project but for the first version, we decided to include a dashboard for our students and a really nice admin portal. The tech used is AWS and React I believe. For future versions, we'd like to improve the platform, admin portal, and add to our courses.

The only person that I was in contact with was Ali. He provided in detail what the developers were doing and he really helped us with the vision for our company.

We've decreased the time spent teaching our students and therefore increase margins by over 30%! We are so extremely happy with the outcome!

We communicated through email and phone calls. We had a recurring meeting set up each week to discuss progress and they requested stuff from us through email. It was very smooth!

Ali's intelligence and vision for the company have blown us away! He not only developed amazing technology but also contributed a lot of new ideas we couldn't even think of!

I think the email communications could happen somewhere else (maybe slack) but it's very minor.

One of our main services is providing virtual staff to law firms. With scale, our proccesses in place were falling apart. We reached out to MoonTek to create us a new website to present all these virtual staff as well as manage them from an admin portal. Our goal was to improve the efficiency of the whole hiring and on boarding process

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

MoonTek caught our eye because of the clean designs as well as the fact that the owner went to UC Berkeley. One of our co-founders is also a UC Berkeley graduate so that really caught out eye. The deciding factor was the amazing communication we had during the scope and proposal stages. Ali, the owner of MoonTek really saw eye to eye with us in this project and this was very helpful!

We first set up a scope meeting where we clearly discussed the scope of the project and what it entails. Our platform eventually wants to compete with UpWork but we decided to start small with a version 1. The version 1 includes a few landing pages, a 'view candidates' page, and an admin portal to view, edit, and manage all the VAs. To the best of my knowledge, tech used was React and AWS

The only person we were in direct communication with was Ali. His developers were also amazing but we didn't talk to them directly.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The clean design of the landing pages has increased our conversion rates by 15% and the view candidates 'request' feature has made the sales process much easier. Most importantly, the amazing admin portal they created has made managing the VAs very easy.

Managing this was very smooth. We met with Ali a total of 3 times for the V1 and they handled everything else on their end. We will continue to meet for future versions of this project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It's so impressive what a team Ali has put together. They promised us 1 month delivery and delivered in less than 2 weeks. We then requested some changes and they updated and delivered with those changes within 2 days. MoonTek has really impressed us!

I honestly can't think of anything they could've done better. We are so impressed with this whole project.

The team at Moontek assured us that they would deliver quality results in a timely fashion, and they did just that. Before the deadline, Moontek came to us with a couple different designs for the website and allowed us to choose our favorite options. To our pleasant surprise, Moontek delivered exceptional results faster than we predicted.

I’m an executive at a small, four-people startup company building security products for government agencies and enterprise clients, mostly focusing on physical security.

What challenge were you trying to address with micro1?

We needed help with prototype design. We already had an early version of our product, but as we were scaling and trying to onboard more customers, we wanted to iterate on our existing product to create more design prototypes that could help us close more customers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

micro1 works with us on the design side of our project. They’ve been iterating on our existing product to create several prototypes, including an overall prototype of our product from end to end.

What is the team composition?

I communicate with Ali (Founder & CEO) from time to time, and I work with Pedro (Senior Account Executive) on a regular basis.

How did you come to work with micro1?

I knew Ali through a fellowship program, so I got in touch with him when the project arose.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent around $6,000. We pay them around $3,000 per month. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with micro1 in November 2022, and we’re still working with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

micro1 has been able to deliver great prototypes in a matter of weeks, allowing us to move faster in the development side of the project. Thanks to them, we’ve been able to provide a personalized product for our customers. Whenever we need a new custom prototype, we go to micro1, and they design it for us quickly.

How did micro1 perform from a project management standpoint?

We work on an hourly basis. Every week, we sketch out all the deliverables and set the number of hours needed to complete those designs. Almost every time, micro1 has delivered those designs right on target. Moreover, Pedro has been very supportive in ensuring that everything goes smoothly. Given that our team is very small, we have a Zoom meeting every week, and we keep track of the progress manually.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One thing I love about micro1 is that they have readily available resources for us, and everyone they’ve brought into the project has been great so far. This has removed the hurdle of finding the right talent and taking care of them ourselves. micro1 handles their payment, management, and integration into projects, so we don’t have to deal with all the bureocracy behind hiring and managing resources internally. This allows us to focus entirely on the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Initially, it took them some time to find the right talent for our needs. Moving forward, it would be great if micro1 had more flexibility around onboarding new resources in a more customized way, especially in terms of their hours. Still, that’s something we’ll negotiate in the future.
