We needed help with web development. We’d had a lot of trouble finding in-house developers and hiring people to develop our website reliably.

I searched online for different types of agencies and options for web development. I came across another company, which later merged with micro1. I reached out and contacted the founder; he explained to me over a quick call how everything worked. We took it back to our team and waited about 1–2 weeks. Then, we interviewed the developer and liked him. In the end, we decided that micro1 was the best option to hire a developer.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $2,000. We hire the developer for 20 hours per week, and his hourly rate is between $28–$29.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2022, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We went live last week, so we haven’t seen a significant impact in numbers yet. They just started working on our website, but we are responsible for the number of visits and conversions. All we’ve asked micro1 is to build and maintain the site and its actual performance, and they’ve been able to do everything we’ve asked so far.

How did micro1 perform from a project management standpoint?

We haven’t given them fixed deadlines. However, we’ve worked with other web developers and agencies, and micro1’s developer works more swiftly and efficiently than others.

For communication, we have a Slack channel with the developer, our team, and micro1’s leaders. We talk there all the time, and the communication is pretty fluid. Also, we mainly use emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offer a quick and easy service. Most of the time, agencies want to provide everything; they want to do development, design, and SEO. In our case, we do most of those things in-house; we only need a developer. micro1 has fulfilled our specific need and nothing else.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We don’t have any complaints so far. The only possible communication problem is that they’re in India, so there’s a big time difference. We can’t work with them throughout our workday.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you just need development work or have trouble finding talent, they're an easy way to get a developer. On the other hand, they might not be the best option if you don’t know where to start; you’ll need a full-service package.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since the project is new, it’s too early to share any funding or user metrics. However, we’ve been satisfied with the progress micro1 has made on the project thus far. 

How did micro1 perform from a project management standpoint?

The micro1 team has managed the project well and executed deliverables on time. As with any development project, we’ve faced hurdles with scheduling and other factors, but micro1 has always conducted the necessary research to provide effective workarounds. 

The micro1 team has also set clear expectations and delegated tasks to our team members as needed. The team has communicated openly and guided us through each project phase, which has been helpful. We’ve used Figma and Monday to manage tasks and Slack to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been particularly impressed by Ali’s technical expertise and insight. He’s very well-connected within the Web3 space, which has been valuable for our project. He’s excelled at outlining our next steps and providing us with a business strategy that spans beyond product development. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The micro1 team is swift, but we could always use more speed, so that would be the area of improvement if I had to choose one.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d advise being as transparent as possible about your ideas and open to hearing theirs. We started with a totally different plan and shifted gears once micro1 shared their ideas, and I’m glad we did.

We found them on LinkedIn while searching online. When we came across micro1, we saw that their work had a very strong emphasis on design, which caught our attention because content creation requires to be visually appealing. Therefore, it seemed like our vision was aligned with theirs, so it made sense to bring them into our project.

We started working together around June 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Having the well-designed site we now have has added to our credibility; it speaks well about our vision and creative eye. Moving forward, we’re very excited about continuing to work with micro1 on new projects because they’ve made everything very easy.

How did micro1 perform from a project management standpoint?

micro1 is one of the best companies in project management. Other companies I worked with had initially quoted a project that ultimately ended up being $7,000–$9,500 more expensive. However, micro1’s estimates have been very exact, with very small variations.

We communicate via Slack, email, and Zoom, and we’ve never had an issue in that matter. They’re also very responsive; anytime I need to get a hold of them or send them an email, they respond quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

micro1’s attention to detail and overall design skills are amazing. My experience with them has been nothing but positive.

Working with micro1, you have nothing to be worried about. Have a meeting with them, and they’ll take it from there.

It’s still early on, but anecdotal feedback from users is that it’s a much easier to use product, directly based on the changes they helped us deploy. Based on the early positive feedback from their work, we are engaging them again on a much larger project that is set to go live this fall.

Ali and MoonTek are very responsive communicative at all times. I’ve worked with vendors before in the past that “Go Dark” and that doesn’t work for me anymore. It’s the exact opposite experience with Moontek, you'll really feel like they’re on your team when they are working on your project.

Value delivered was very high and the personal touch was top notch.

The goal was to have 80 a compliant features out of the website within a month and they did that flawlessly alongside adding some other features to make it a little more user-friendly. They did not have to do that but it is incredibly helpful to my business.

Our current site was certainly lacking and looked dated. The design wasn't great, there was virtually no UI, and it was incredibly difficult to update content. We needed a new website that showed us as the forward-thinking software company we set out to be.

In searching for web designers, I was looking for a group that had a good track record with clients and created interesting and user friendly websites. Moontek checked all of the boxes. They design beautiful and dynamically interesting websites. When you are on their website or a site they've designed you want to stay a while. And the team has been great to work with!

After contacting Moontek, I heard back right away and we were able to being discussions on what goals we were looking to achieve with the new site redesign. Once the proposal was received and a contract signed, we were put in touch with our project manager and had an initial kick off meeting. The project is still ongoing. Moontek has a client portal that allows me to see production happening almost in real time. I can review designs and send changes in this portal where the entire team can see comments. Which is great because the development process isn't slowed down by a bunch of back and forth.

As the project is still ongoing, so far I've had contact with the owner and our project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There are not any outcomes to-date. Other than, my team and employer are thrilled with the work Moontek has produced so far. We are excited to see how this new look and branding will help drive business.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager was easy to communicate with and incredibly responsive to any requests. We are in a different time zone and had no problem getting prompt responses.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I appreciate how they really take our ideas and run with them to create a website that we can be proud of.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

So far I can't think of anything they could be doing differently to provide a better experience. I have worked with firms in the past where you find out that you end up having to do a lot of the leg work and that is just not the case with Moontek.

moontek has designed my website and its UX/UI. They’ve helped me develop user personas and walked me through the entire process. The design moontek has decided to create is very retro. Once we’ve finalized the design, moontek will complete the development process and launch the site.

We plan to launch the new site within the next 6–8 months — we want to launch in August 2022. moontek has helped me simultaneously build my knowledge and website — they’ve kept me up-to-date on the latest web design trends. moontek is very intuitive and comes up with exciting ideas before I can, implementing them straight away, which pushes me in the right creative direction.

moontek sticks to my schedule and budget. We use monday.com to track project progress, and their team uses Figma for the wireframing. Generally, we communicate through text messages, Zoom, monday.com, and phone calls.

moontek is professional and meticulous — they analyze every piece of the project with a fine-toothed comb.
