Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a project manager for a local municipality. I work for communities and towns in North Germany. I mainly work on a project for a funding platform.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Krusche & Company?

We hired Krusche & Company to program a platform for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Krusche & Company programmed a platform for local municipal workers to plan and manage their projects and funding. We knew what we wanted from the platform and shared the requirements with the team. After outlining the specifications, we handed the project over to the team, and they submitted a design proposal, which we approved. Then, they developed the platform from scratch using individual programming.

The platform features three types of documents that users can create and access. The first is information about funding opportunities, which we summarize in short descriptions for users to access. For example, if a municipality wants to launch a new project, they can use our platform to review different types of federal, state, and EU government funding.

The second type of document is a project idea plan. Users can enter information about the project and pictures to outline their idea for the project. The third document is a checklist for users to describe the project and make checkboxes so others can reuse their successful projects.

Workers can also connect with each other through the platform and access information about prior successful projects to reuse them. The platform isn’t open to the public but only to municipal workers.

What is the team composition?

We regularly worked with Claudia (Head of Sales), Ilarion (UI/UX Designer), a scrum master, and three programmers.

How did you come to work with Krusche & Company?

We used Google to research firms that could support our individual programming needs. Since we work with official government funds, we went through an RFP process where we stated our programming needs, and companies submitted applications. We spoke with Claudia, who assured us they were capable of executing the work. Then, they submitted a bid for the project, and we chose to move forward with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested €99,000 (approximately $105,000 USD) in the project with Krusche & Company.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2021–August 2022. We have a follow-up contract with them to add new features.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re still implementing the software solution in the municipalities and expanding its functionality, so we don’t have any success metrics yet. However, users have responded positively to the platform, and we’re pleased with the feedback.

From a programming standpoint, Krusche & Company did a good job acquainting themselves with the project and understanding our system. They understood our needs and effectively programmed the platform. We encountered some bugs during the production stage, but the team addressed them immediately, and we’ve had no crashes.

How did Krusche & Company perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team worked in sprints and presented their work to us. We had no access/didn’t need access to pm tech. Claudia didn’t join our meetings regularly but was always there to address billing questions and other queries. We mostly communicated with the scrum master. We have a lot of requirements as a municipality, but they answered all our questions and submitted the required paperwork.

Krusche & Company delivered the project within budget. Depending on the production stage, we had weekly, or biweekly video calls with the project manager to discuss development progress and new features. The team was very dependable, and our meetings were always productive. We communicated via Microsoft (MS) Teams, email, and phone. They also used Figma to share designs with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They composed a really good team who was open to compromise. They made valuable suggestions for the platform, which we implemented most of the time. Negotiating with them was easy, and they were very open about the solution and programming. They were also very responsive to our emails and calls; we could always reach them quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend having precise specifications so that you can communicate your vision with the programmers and they can be efficient. Also, be open to Krusche & Company's suggestions because they’ll help improve your platform.
