The scope of work included the end-to-end development of our Shopify app, Flowfy - Workflow Automation. JoulesLab was responsible for transforming our vision into a fully functional app that aligns with the Shopify ecosystem's technical and design standards.

Key deliverables included:

1. UI/UX Design: Creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface tailored for Shopify merchants to simplify workflow automation.
2. API Integration: Developing robust API collections to enable seamless connectivity between Shopify and third-party applications.

JoulesLab was the most professional team I have ever worked with. For communication, we primarily used WhatsApp for team discussions and updates, while email was used for correspondence with upper management.

JoulesLab provided us with weekly work updates through our WhatsApp group, detailing the progress made each week. These updates were comprehensive and included detailed descriptions of the tasks completed. To ensure clarity, they also created video tutorials demonstrating the work completed, covering aspects of the front end, back end, and UI/UX design.

Additionally, they documented the entire development journey meticulously on Notion, ensuring we had a clear and organized record of the project’s progress.

Their responsiveness was exceptional. They always replied promptly, and we never experienced delays in communication or support. This level of professionalism and efficiency in project management made working with JoulesLab a seamless and productive experience.

I’m a managing partner for a media publishing company. We basically review products and services for companies and restaurants. We have clients local to Singapore, as well as international clients, such as a travel booking site.

What challenge were you trying to address with JoulesLabs?

I have a couple of companies, and JoulesLabs has provided me with services for those. For this company specifically, We engaged with JoulesLabs to help us with our website UI. We're very particular about the UX we want, so we wanted to achieve a good flow of information on our site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

JoulesLabs has helped us create the UI/UX of our website. Initially, we told them what we expected and what UX and data flow we wanted to convey to the user, as well as what kind of response we were looking for from our audience.

For example, one of the features we wanted to include was a pop-up message that appeared when a user left a particular review. This message would show users our current promotions so that they could take advantage of them. Additionally, they've created advertising banners and developed widgets to create automation for those banners. As for the technology stack, the team has used PHP to create those features.

Currently, we're still working together on other add-ons. However, this is a small project. Our major project with JoulesLabs is the e-commerce platform they've created for us under our Malaysian brand.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our success working with JoulesLabs has been very good. They're not one of the cheaper options, but I'm more concerned about the end result. Cheap doesn't always equate to bad, and expensive doesn't equate to good. Still, they've done a fairly good job.

How did JoulesLabs perform from a project management standpoint?

JoulesLabs has delivered work on time and periodically updates us on the progress. We communicate via Google Meet, and they use Notion for project management.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to Naim, who works with me directly, as he oversees all of our projects. He has taken it upon himself to ensure that we're actually making progress. Once in a while, he reaches out to me, and we speak about the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

JoulesLabs is very down-to-earth and honest. I only have good praise for them; they've done a fantastic job for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As a business owner, it would be great if they could improve their pricing. Other than that, I'm very happy with their work. Otherwise, we wouldn't have used them for other projects.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be aware of their pricing. They're cheaper than other companies, especially compared to the European and US markets. Still, I consider them to be in the middle-to-high range.

They researched new tools and problems and quickly adapted their existing teams to incorporate those learnings. Their team implemented the first-of-its-kind backend in the country with very minimal 3rd party support.

During the project phase, there is not much left to improve, but post-delivery, they can provide the client with a technical roadmap that indicates where the client could face roadblocks, what resources to implement, and what can be improved (similar to this question). Basically a list of things they wish they could have done but couldn't do due to deadlines. This kind of approach gives a feeling of more product ownership.
