IT-Geeks completed a comprehensive redesign and update of our Shopify website. The project included implementing a new Shopify theme, redesigning and customizing page layouts, reorganizing our site structure and navigation, and incorporating extensive new and updated content throughout the website.

They also handled the technical development required to customize the site to our needs, improve the presentation of our products, optimize the experience across desktop and mobile devices, and ensure that our existing Shopify functionality and integrations continued to work properly. Throughout the project, they worked closely with us to implement revisions, troubleshoot technical issues, and refine both the design and functionality of the site.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The new website has not yet launched, so we do not have post-launch performance metrics to report. However, the project has progressed extremely well, and the current version of the site represents a significant improvement over our existing website. The new design is more modern and polished, the content and navigation are much better organized, and the site does a far better job of presenting our products and brand. IT-Geeks has also been very successful in implementing the extensive customizations and functionality we requested. We are extremely pleased with how the new website has come together and are looking forward to its launch.

Their project management has been excellent. Communication has been consistent and clear throughout the project, and they have been extremely responsive whenever we have questions, revisions, or new requests. They have kept the project moving forward efficiently and have delivered work within the expected timeframes. What has impressed us most is their willingness to listen carefully to what we are trying to accomplish and then find a way to make it happen. Even when we have requested fairly specific customizations or changes during the development process, they have been accommodating, technically capable, and quick to respond. Overall, they have been very easy and pleasant to work with. They have consistently completed their work within expected timeframes, including being very patient when delays have been on our end.

What has impressed me most about IT-Geeks is the combination of excellent communication, patience, and a very high level of technical skill. They are extremely responsive and easy to communicate with, but they have also been very patient when the project has needed to pause while waiting for decisions, content, or feedback from me. I have never felt pressured or rushed. At the same time, their technical capabilities are excellent. They have been able to understand what we are trying to accomplish and consistently find effective solutions, even when our requests involve significant customization. Having worked with several web development companies in the past, my experience with IT-Geeks has been by far the best.  They have a strong attention to detail and have been able to successfully implement the design, functionality, and customizations we requested. I'd been putting up with a slow Shopify store. On mobile it took close to 18 seconds to load, and at some point I'd lost the ability to make simple changes myself without digging around in code. I'd done a fair bit of diagnosing on my own with Lighthouse and Ahrefs and had a 17 point list of problems written up before I ever contacted IT Geeks. What I appreciated right away is that they actually read the list and worked through all of it, then found a good deal more that I'd missed. The speed work made the biggest difference. They got rid of the oversized video that was sitting on my homepage, which I'd tried to remove myself and couldn't even find in the theme files. They converted my banners and my whole product image library over to properly sized WebP, fixed the order the scripts load in so my actual content shows up before the tracking stuff, and deferred the Facebook, Google and TikTok pixels that were freezing the page up. The site loads in a fraction of the time it used to. You notice it immediately on a phone. The other half of the project was just as important to me, which was being able to run my own store. They rebuilt the storefront sections so everything is editable from the builder, with nothing buried in theme code where I can't reach it. They also went through my apps. I had four different bundle and upsell apps all doing roughly the same thing. Instead of talking me into something new, they told me to keep the one I already owned a lifetime licence for and built around that. They also cleaned out old code left behind by apps I'd uninstalled years ago. Everything I genuinely use still works fine, including EasyShip, Judge.me, Tamappy, Event Calendar and GemPages. Along the way they also sorted out accessibility and SEO issues, added security headers, reapplied the alt text across my images, rebuilt my bundle tiers so customers can add them straight to the cart instead of filling in a form that went nowhere, set up the free gift logic, and ran a full QA pass over the site before we went live. The handover was better than I expected. They made tutorial videos specific to my store, did a live training session, and gave me a written reference showing exactly where to go for any edit I might want to make. That was the whole point for me and they treated it as a real deliverable rather than an afterthought. One other thing worth mentioning. I asked at the start that anything outside the agreed scope be brought to me with a description and a price before anyone started work on it, and that's exactly how it went. No surprises on any invoice. They were quick to respond on Basecamp and happy to jump on a call whenever I wanted one. I also told them I didn't want a redesign because my design works, and they left it alone instead of trying to sell me one. Would recommend them and would use them again.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The starting point was documented with a Lighthouse audit on mobile, so there's a clear before and after on this one. Before the work began, my mobile scores were poor across the board. Performance was 0.31. Largest Contentful Paint, which is basically how long before the page looks ready, was 18.5 seconds. The target for that is 2.5 seconds, so I was more than seven times over. Total Blocking Time, which is how long the page sits frozen while scripts run, was 1,730 milliseconds against a 200 millisecond target. First Contentful Paint was 4.4 seconds and Speed Index was 8.7. The homepage alone weighed 17.3 megabytes, and 11.3 of that was a single autoplay video. There was also roughly 1,691 KB of unused JavaScript being pushed to every visitor from apps and theme code that weren't even in use. Accessibility sat at 0.80 and Best Practices at 0.69. Every one of those moved. We agreed clear pass thresholds up front rather than vague promises, and the work was checked against them before anything went live: Mobile performance score had to clear 0.70, up from 0.31. LCP had to come in at 4 seconds or under, down from 18.5. TBT had to come in at 400 milliseconds or under, down from 1,730. A WAVE accessibility audit had to return zero contrast errors and zero empty button errors on the homepage and on a product page. The browser console had to be completely clean with no failed script requests, which it wasn't before because a broken app script was erroring on every single page load. SecurityHeaders.com had to return a grade of B or better. All ten images on my alt text list had to have the correct alt text, title and filename live in the media library after being recompressed. Every page had to be either fully managed in the builder or have a documented editing location, so no routine content change needs me to open theme code. Beyond the scores, the practical outcomes were that images came down 70 to 80 percent in size, page weight dropped by more than half, my own 17 point issue list was closed out in full, and their QA caught and fixed 34 additional items before launch that I would never have found myself. The project also ran to the timeline we agreed at the start. The number that matters most to me is the first one. My homepage used to take around 18 seconds on a phone, and most shoppers leave after three. That's years of lost sales that I can now stop worrying about.

Project management was solid throughout. The overall timeline we agreed at the start was 30 to 45 days and they stayed inside it. They also gave me firm dates when I asked for them rather than vague answers, which I appreciated, because I had a photo shoot and a launch of my own lined up behind this and needed to plan around it. Communication was the strong part. Everything ran through Basecamp, which meant there was a written record of every decision and I could check back on anything. They answered quickly, often same day. If something needed a proper conversation we'd hop on a call, sometimes within an hour of me asking. I never had to chase anyone for a status update. They were good at flagging things proactively instead of waiting for me to notice. A few examples. They spotted that the free gift product in my Shopify backend had no inventory in it and told me before it became a problem. They suggested adding my logo to the footer for SEO reasons and pointed out my social links were duplicated in two places. They recorded a video demonstrating the free gift flow so I could see it working rather than just take their word for it. Small things, but they add up to the feeling that someone is actually paying attention to your store. On responding to feedback, if I sent a screenshot of something that looked off, it got looked at straight away. When I asked for changes mid project, like moving the email signup to the top of the footer so mobile visitors aren't scrolling forever, or switching my bundle tiers from a contact form to a direct add to cart, they just did it rather than treating it as an argument about scope. I'd asked at the start that anything outside the agreed scope come to me with a description and a price before work began, and that held for the whole project. Nothing was ever started and then billed after the fact. They did take on a couple of extra pieces inside the existing scope without charging me for them. Before launch they ran their own QA pass and came back with a list of 34 items they'd found and fixed. I didn't ask for that. They just did it, and were upfront about what was on the list rather than quietly shipping and hoping I wouldn't notice. That told me a fair amount about how they work. They've also made themselves available after launch for a support period, which is when you actually find out whether an agency sticks around.

The thing that stood out most was that they repeatedly made recommendations that earned them less money. I had four overlapping bundle and upsell apps on my store. The easy move would have been to put me on something new with a monthly fee. Instead they told me to keep the one I already had a lifetime licence on, because it did the job and cost me nothing going forward, and they built around it. Same story when I said I didn't want a redesign. Plenty of agencies would have pushed for one because it's a bigger project. They agreed my design was working and left it alone, and put the budget into the things that were actually broken. The second thing was the handover. Their stated goal was that I shouldn't need them for routine work afterwards, and they built the whole project around that. Everything editable from the builder, nothing buried in theme code, tutorial videos made for my specific store, a live training session, and a written reference telling me exactly where to go for any change I want to make. An agency that deliberately makes itself unnecessary for day to day work is not something you come across often. I'd also say they treated me as someone who knew his own store. I turned up having run my own Lighthouse and Ahrefs audits with a 17 point list already written. They didn't brush it aside or redo it to look clever. They worked through my list in full and used it as the starting point, then added what I'd missed. Last one. Before launch they ran their own QA, found 34 issues, and told me about every one of them instead of quietly fixing some and shipping the rest. Being that transparent when nobody would have known either way says a lot.

Nothing comes to mind. They did what they said they'd do, kept me informed the whole way, and delivered the result I was after. I don't have anything I'd ask them to do differently.

The project focused on connecting our Shopify store with WhatsApp so customers could automatically receive order confirmations along with a PDF invoice. The main work included setting up and configuring the WhatsApp and invoicing apps, creating the invoice template, and handling the Meta approval process.
IT-Geeks also built the logic to identify where each order came from, so confirmations would be sent for website and our own POS orders while excluding partner-store orders. They also set up automatic order-source tagging, kept our existing WhatsApp Business setup and linked devices working, and provided documentation and training so our team could use the new process confidently.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project gave us a much more streamlined order-confirmation process. Customers can receive their order confirmation and PDF receipt through WhatsApp, while orders from partner stores are automatically excluded. It also removed the need for the previous manual order-source identification process and made the workflow easier for our team to manage.

Tom managed both of our projects and was our main point of contact throughout. He kept us updated at every stage, shared preview links so we could review changes before anything went live, and always worked on a backup theme so our live store was never affected. What stood out most was how well they responded to our needs.
When our requirements changed, for example when I realised adding tags to every exhibition order would slow my team down, they adapted the setup around how we actually work rather than sticking to the original plan. They also added a one-tap tag button in our POS so my employees could select the right option quickly.
They were flexible with scheduling calls around our time difference and took the time to walk us through everything, which made complex parts like the WhatsApp setup much easier to understand. Whenever something didn't work as expected, such as the Ready to Wear page filters, they investigated properly and kept refining it until it worked exactly the way I wanted.

Unfortunately, I’ve been really disappointed with my experience. I initially signed up after a pressure sale offer because I had an urgent website issue affecting my ability to run my shop. I was reassured they could resolve it, but weeks later I was told it was too big a task and could take weeks. I eventually fixed it myself within a couple of days. After complaining, they apologised and offered some free website work. Since then, I’ve repeatedly had to question whether work included in my contract had actually been completed, including image alt text, and have had to point out errors or missing work before it was corrected. They have been super friendly and responsive, but unfortunately I’ve lost confidence in the service because I’ve felt responsible for checking that the work I’m paying for is actually being done correctly. Most recently, I was promised one final piece of work which still hasn’t been resolved, and they have now stopped responding to my messages. Overall, a disappointing experience and I wouldn’t use the service again.

The project has allowed our website to sync with another active website, sharing products, filters, and live tracking, including live inventory tracking. We have seen an increase of about 12% in sales in a single category due to improved inventory. We are seeing more sales in this category than in previous years, and while we have not received direct customer feedback, the results have been positive. Once the filter project is completed, I anticipate an even better and more user-friendly experience for our customers, which should further increase our sales percentage.

Our website is much better and easier to use now. Editing our website is much easier, and we have a lot more freedom to create the website that we want. We've used them three times, and each time, they've been absolutely fantastic to work with. The project was about back-of-house theme editing. Creature Coffee continues to receive interest in its mobile coffee cart and coffee bean services. There was no increase or decrease after the work was done. The work completed was about editing the theme so that we could then edit the website ourselves. The IT-Geeks would send me email confirmation, images, and videos confirming that the edits were correct. This made Creature Coffee's website clearer and easier to use.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't seen any improvement in our website's speed metrics after IT-Geeks worked on our stores. Only after questioning them did they say this would be a bigger project and require 10 times the budget they quoted at the beginning of the engagement. It's absolutely shameful and disgraceful. I feel completely misled by such a cheap tactic.

Moreover, our SEO performance has been negative. We haven't seen anything positive, and IT-Geeks hasn't been able to show any progress to that extent.

How did IT-Geeks perform from a project management standpoint?

IT-Geeks' project management has been misleading. IT-Geeks communicates via email and messages.

There's nothing impressive about IT-Geeks.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could stop lying and deceiving people. They could also stop using foreign names to give the impression that they're Western when they're actually from Southeast Asia.

It's amazing how sweet, kind, professional and responsive the team is. They always made sure everything was super clear. It was a true breath of fresh air to be able to talk to a team that understood our goals and where able to offer the technical support (even when we as a brand didn't understand the technical difficulties at time) it was amazing to be able to talk to real people that understood what or why these tasks were important to us.

for urgent bugs it would be great to be able to contact someone in the weekends.
