Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the managing director of a construction company’s Polish operations. We make fit-outs in Poland and build structures in Sweden. Our team is around 600 people.

What challenge were you trying to address with Intellect Software House?

We wanted a software solution that would help us better manage our invoices and resources. We had a lot of billing to work through on our side.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Intellect Software House developed a construction ERP solution. In the first meeting, we wrote down all of the business aspects that the program needed to address and provided documentation. Their team then developed the solution.

It’s a custom ERP that allows us to categorize all of our invoices so that we can see which invoices we need to pay, pay our employees, and calculate our profits. It can also handle some logistics around a project. We can use the program to organize our work by type of project and determine which employees will be working on them. The solution accommodates both our Polish and Swedish teams.

What is the team composition? 

They assigned a project owner to be my main point of contact. During this project, he served more as a proxy-product owner whereas I was the product owner.

How did you come to work with Intellect Software House?

Intellect Software House is local to most of my employees. Second of all, they’d created a few websites for us that showed us they were skilled. Of course, I did do a tender and considered two other companies, but Intellect Software House won in the end.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about 700,000 zloty (approximately $187,400 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

This project started in September 2018 with the documentation being completed by December. Intellect Software House developed the solution between March–December 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m very happy with the final outcome. Before, we could only find out-of-the-box solutions that weren’t tailored to our company. Now, we have a product that’s a better fit for our processes.

How did Intellect Software House perform from a project management standpoint?

They used a Scrum methodology, which was the first time that I’d worked using that framework. I felt good about their progress because I could see their updates during every two-week sprint. We also had an initial planning session and a final retrospection session. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best thing about working with Intellect Software House was that the communication was good. They understood our requirements and delivered a solution that I could use for my business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there was no failure to report. In the beginning, we weren’t sure how to cooperate with each other after the sprints. They put a plan in place to meet after our sprints to collect feedback and identify what to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Trust them because they know what they’re doing.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m Sales Team Leader at Inso. I’m responsible for customer acquisition of the Inso application. Our app is for management such organizations as nurseries and kindergartens.

Our system can be used by teachers, directors of institutions and parents - it helps to manage all processes.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Intellect Software House, and what were your goals?

As a startup we wanted to create a specific solution for specific goals. The challenge was to make the application a solution that could be used by 3 different user groups - teachers, parents and principals.

Our app - INSO - had to filfull different business conditions and various functions, to each of these users could use it in convenient and intuitive way.

SOLUTION

How did you select Intellect Software House and what were the deciding factors?

Intellect Software House was recommended to us by another company. We decided to cooperate with them because of Intellect experience in implementing similar projects.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The first step was to create an MVP of our application - this version contained only basic functions. The web application was made in the following technologies: PHP (Symfony framework, Doctrine ORM), MySQL database, frontend: JavaScript (Es6 +), React.

The next steps were development of individual application modules and scaling application because of increasing of users number.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked in 5-person team, consisting of Project Manager, 2 Backend Developers, Frontend Developer and UX Specialist.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I could recommend Intellect to every company who is looking for tech partner to build mobile or web app. They’re completely different to work with than any other agency.

They’re a development partner, and I’m very proud of the work they’ve produced. They’ve done a phenomenal web & mobile software for us.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We worked at Scrum - I think it was the best way to communicate in this project. We planned 3 types of meetings like - “planning”, “daily” and “retro”.

We used tools like Google Meet and Jira to better communication. And it was enough to project like ours.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

People at Intellect listens very well and always tries to find something to do. I like the quality of their work. It’s almost a given that we’re going to have good quality work, and it’s in their nature to want to help and make suggestions.

They can work remotly or at their or our location - they are flexible. This cooperation pursued a common goal. It’s nice to have a team like people from Intellect.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At this moment we don’t see any areas to improvement. We’ve worked in an agile approach so we could report our suggestions up to date. I think that is why final effect was very satisfactory.

Navifleet provides an advanced SaaS telematics platform for transportation companies and any business branch that requires its own car fleet. Most of our clients are in Poland, but we work with others in European countries, too.

What challenge were you trying to address with Intellect Software House?

We hired Intellect Software House because we had an existing app and wanted to make a better, more responsive version.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Intellect Software House designed and developed a web app and a mobile app for us. The main feature of the apps is to display the current status of vehicles, including location and speed. There was a lot of data to read and display, so this was the main challenge their team worked with.  

What is the team composition?

Intellect Software House assigned a six-person team to the project, including a scrum master, developers, and a graphic designer.

How did you come to work with Intellect Software House?

We found them online, and they were also recommended to us by a mutual friend. We chose their team because they could deliver the project end to end. They also offered the best ratio between quality and price.

How much have you invested with them?

The project cost was $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Intellect Software House between November 2019–April 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As the product owner, it was very important for me to deliver a good app to our clients, and it was a huge problem for our business not to have one. The problems we had been facing disappeared after Intellect Software House delivered our app. Our user count grew rapidly after we launched this new app.

How did Intellect Software House perform from a project management standpoint?

We had sprint planning meetings every two weeks, and we used Jira to manage the project. Intellect Software House produced the work, and we reviewed the results after two weeks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Though we had a vision, they showed me there was a long way to go from vision to product. Intellect Software House recommended an agile technique to deliver the project in small parts, which was one of the main reasons why we chose them, too. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Money is always the issue, so the price could’ve been better. It cost us a bit more than what other European companies offered, but I’m not sure that it could’ve been done cheaper. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

The most difficult thing for us was to understand that we weren’t buying an application but paying for a creative process. When they couldn’t tell us how much money we needed to put on the table to receive an application, it was alright, because we then had the MVP after a few weeks, grew with it, and made changes according to our needs. Trust was the missing element in the beginning, so my main advice would be to trust Intellect Software House.
