I am the co-founder and CEO of CIVL. CIVL is a mobile-first platform that allows organizations to more effectively communicate with its members.

What challenge were you trying to address with Hubspire?

We looked for a partner for development needs of a native iOS app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the initial consultation, they gave us a scope of work. Their team was excellent every step of the way. First, the scope of work and designs had to be approved. The code, architecture and every single aspect of the project they worked with us. They explain it and show it to you to sign off on it until completion. The customer service is outstanding and any issues they're on top of it immediately. Features include making your groups public or private, sharing media, and creating news and announcement posts. There's a private members-only chat room, event management where you not only can show the administrator of that group if you are going or not going. We also created a feature that allows you to check in to a location to take quick digital attendance. There are also job and volunteer postings, and a petition feature where you can create a petition and share and export it. They created deep linking. So if you share either through social media or in an email, it links right to the page or the post on CIVL. When you search for it is a phase you can search by either name category or through the Map view to see what organizations are close to you.

What is the team composition?

There were about eight people on our project alone. That includes the CEO, designer, and programmers.

How did you come to work with Hubspire?

My co-founder and I met with a few other New-York based development teams. We wanted a developer that we could work with face-to-face. When we came across Hubspire, their presentation was incredibly thorough and their communication was excellent and well-documented. Their transparency and communication were big selling points for me.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $130,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We signed with them in August 2017 and the initial launch of the app was in December 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I mean there are incredible things that are going very well we're signing on some organization some small some large. Bugs that were found were reported and Hubspire corrected them immediately.

How did Hubspire perform from a project management standpoint?

They are excellent, especially because I am not an easy customer. I am very big on communication. When I reach out to someone, I always get a response. Even the CEO is very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They went above and beyond what I requested and even suggested features to make our app even better. They presented them to me and asked if we were interested but never forced us into buying more than we wanted to. They are invested in their clients' success and that is a big deal especially when you're dealing with developing teams.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I made everything I want clear right from the start to ensure only minimal adjustments were needed. Their team achieved every one of my requirements and then some.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Go in and sit down with their CEO and look at their methods and portfolio. I'd highly recommend people to meet with them. I think anyone looking for a development team is going to be impressed by that especially after meeting with other companies in New York.

We never questioned where we were at in the process or what/when to expect next. They provided timely recaps of every meeting that outlined progress and defined next steps. Anytime we needed them for an ad hoc call, they made themselves available. Phenomenal project management.

Hubspire was brought on board to discuss and develop our mobile application and gauge their qualifications of a technology partner. Initially, we approached hubspire to quote the cost of developing an MVP and full version of our app. 

Hubspire responded with a price that was a little bit over our budget, but showed interest and passion for the project and helped us laydown a road map of a successful launch

Thomas and the Hubspire Team pursued a discovery phase and develop a prototype of our app for a more than fair cost. Throughout the process, Hubspire showed interest, passion, professionalism and came up with different ideas that would cut costs and improve the apps functionality.

Hubspire was organized throughout the entire process, keeping us up to date with schedule and weekly checkin meetings. They created a high functionality list consisting of an overwhelming amount of data that they clearly managed, understood and transformed into what is now our prototype of the app. Thanks to Hubspire, we are tee'd up for development of our MVP with a strong and sound plan ahead of us.

Thomas is now a member of  our advisory board as CTO (cheif technology officer) and we are thrilled to continue working with Hubspire.
