BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CPO and CTO of C3 by SBE. We’re a food tech company that powers ghost kitchens and e-commerce associated with food ordering and delivery. We’re located in Miami, Florida.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with GoSolve LLC?

We were trying to solve three different projects. First, we needed to build our own e-commerce funnel, including frontend, backend, menu management, and so on. Secondly, we used GoSolve LLC for machine learning and data science to set up our data warehouse and establish our Python and GoLand-based data science practice. Finally, we had to build the frontend experience and APIs that our partners could integrate with.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

GoSolve has used Figma for prototyping and rapid frontend element design. We initially had four different requirements for the frontend. Firstly, it had to be Next.js-driven because we wanted to do most of our rendering server-side. Also, we were going for a responsive web. We were trying to make it responsive on Next with server-side rendering on the frontend.

All of our elements have been cached. We’ve used Cloudflare, and they’ve been required to update rapidly, clean, redeploy, and re-update the cache as needed. Also, we’ve had some search APIs and key management self-service so users can come in, authenticate, get a key, and sign up to get the APIs and start building.

What is the team composition?

We started with seven engineers; now we're up to 12. We’ve also been in contact with the owner of GoSolve. He’s helped us get an architect, structure the team, create the management layer, and recruit.

How did you come to work with GoSolve LLC?

I used GoSolve in the past with a previous employer. When I took over as CTO here, we fired our previous vendor and brought in GoSolve.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $15,000 per engineer. For 12 engineers, it’s approximately $1.1 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October of 2021, and the engagement is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We look at CICD pipelines, deploy rate, how often the code is being merged, and the quality of the code. We use GitHub and another AI software to evaluate the quality of the GitHub commits.

When we first hired the engineers, we gave them a couple of different tests. All of the engineers scored above 90. In terms of code quality, the GitHub score is consistently an A-plus. Our average bug rate used to be about 7%, and with GoSolve, it’s been less than 1%.

How did GoSolve LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

They're pretty good at keeping track of the budget. Moreover, they've consistently hit deadlines — they've never missed a single release date. All of our ticket scoping is done on Asana, and the development standups are done on Slack. Any video conferencing typically happens on Skype or Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're architecture-minded; they start with the problem first. They look at what you’re trying to solve and the business model. Then, they do a good job of making the system scalable. Overall, they put a lot of effort into API structuring and building the right architecture, not just writing the code.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should have a more consistent billing strategy.

Any advice for potential customers?

Get them involved early in the design process. Start with the architects, not the backend engineers, and slowly ramp up the team with them.
