The main focus of Trend Micro now is to develop a website for the SMB sector where the companies can partner with them. We opted for an an agile scope of engagement model with GeekyAnts where they will be in charge of the UI/UX Design and the Front-end Development of the microsite for Trend Micro MSP Partner Program

We needed GeekyAnts services to fix bugs and enhance our web application by implementing some complicated features such as Role Based Access Control, Audit Reports, Progress Trails, and DB schema cleanup. We also needed them to fix number of UI bugs to make the web application more presentable and closer to the finalized designs.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• from the list of UI bugs, engineers fixed all of them in the set timeframe 
• from the list of additional features, engineers implemented all of them accurately and even enhanced some existing features by revamping the db schema and code refactoring 
• optimized the saving functionality, which was taking a lot of time before. Reduced the save tie from 15 seconds to ~5 seconds.

Yes, everything was delivered on time. The most helpful aspect of the team that helped us keep track of things was the daily sync-ups. We discussed what engineers worked on the day before and what they are going to pick up next. Any doubts or questions were resolved early, which helped the team deliver within the decided timeframe. One engineer in the team had to leave the project in between because of a family emergency. GeekyAnts provided a more qualified resource immediately to take up the remaining work to meet the deadlines.

Their promptness in asking questions and clarifying doubts helped avoid rework or misaligned priorities. Promptness in assigning another engineer when one in the team had to leave for a family emergency. Consistency in regular sync-ups and delivering all tasks within deadlines.

Scope included building the app from ground up using Flutter as frontend tech and NodeJS as primary backend technology. The app design was developed inhouse while the architecture and technical execution was outsourced to GeekyAnts. Key deliverables were: 

• Frontend mobile app for iOS and Android 
• Scalable backend deployed on AWS 
• Bug free product that can be shipped to the market 
• Detailed documentation 
• Live ops tools to continue running the app for few quarters without having to manually update server or client code.

The Lead engineer handling the project was very cooperative and proactive. He was actively involved in solutioning and providing insights on shortfalls and areas to improve to make the product better.

There is always room to improve in all teams; I would specifically like to see improvements in the following areas: 

• Transparency in pricing 
• More communication during the execution of the project during the last phases of the delivery 
• More robust tracking methods implemented to understand the progress and more granular tracking of smaller tasks.

Our Web application had a lot of UI bugs that needed immediate fix. We had a set of complex features in pipeline to be implemented after bug fixes - features such as Role based Access for different stakeholders using the platform, Audit trails/ progress reports, functionality to invite users to the platform.

Daily syncups were very helpful in keeping the progress of development on track - it helped clear any doubts early and kept us informed of the progress. All items were delivered on time. When one engineer had to leave the project in between because of unforeseen circumstances, GeekyAnts promptly assigned another qualified engineer who ramped up on the project quickly.

The company was undergoing a brand refresh which required a complete rebuild of the existing marketing pages. Our initial goals were to launch the homepage, then progressively rollout the remaining pages of the site.

We had worked with GeekyAnts before, developing a great working relationship, and we were very happy with the quality of the work they provided.

The pages were built to the specifications provided by the designs. During the build we would be in constant contact to adjust the designs as necessary and provide guidance on API integration. The pages were all built using Nuxt.

We are very happy with final result of the launched pages.

We had daily standups, where our team (design, dev, PM) would bring questions/feedback, and the build team would bring their questions. From there we would triage the issues, solving some in the standup, and others later in the day. A single line of communication was established, where all work to be done was to be put in Jira, and the build team would drag that into the sprint post any required clarification. Additional communication was done via Slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was very impressed with the proactivity of the dev team when presented with problems. We would often encounter design issues, and the team would present a number of solutions in our daily stand ups. With the challenge of different time zones, this has been very effective.

After the UAT phase, the scalable production application was deployed to our AWS cloud space.

The dedication and focus displayed by Suraj, our GeekyAnt's resource has been extremely impressive. He has worked at a fast pace under high pressure to quickly identify and prioritize issues and suggest good solutions. They have quickly learned about our business and customers' needs, which is difficult due to our niche market.
