The developer I corresponded and worked with, Sven Nilsen, was extremely kind, patient, and helpful. What I appreciated most about Sven is he understands small business owners are busy doing so much with limited time. I was working on many other projects to get my business up and running while they were working on my website. There was absolutely no pressure from their end if I didn't respond immediately. He sent detailed instructions and videos to quickly facilitate what I needed to do on my end, including how to do it via YouTube videos, so he could move forward on his end. The work they did to set up my website was free, but I had to pay for my domain name, template and webhost. They had discounted rates for these costs as well. The template I selected was modified or deleted to suit my business needs using ScreenCastify to communicate my changes. This took awhile because ScreenCastify didn't work readily on my Mac laptop, but a quick phone call to the company for support solved it. When my template changes were in place, and the website was ready for me to add my content, Sven sent me my website login information and YouTube links with detailed instructions to teach me how to add my content and make modifications. All the plugins for my website were free as well. Adding content to my website seemed daunting at first, but the more I used it, the easier it became. One great thing is he added UpDraft Plus so that I could create backups of my work and not lose anything. The speed to obtain a working website was really dependent on how fast I responded to Sven's emails.

I really appreciated their matter-of-fact approach to teaching neophytes about websites. I didn't know anything about websites prior to working with Sven. I'm certainly not an expert now, but I've learned a lot about websites from working with Sven and his group and I understand the process a bit. Also, in my industry, we do a lot of pro bono work. I appreciate how The Free Website Guys helped me out as a small business owner.
Are there any areas for improvement or something The Free Website Guys could have done differently?
I had a really great experience with them, and I haven't worked with any other website developers, so I have no means of comparison. The template I purchased works fine for my purposes now, but this was the only template that their recommended vendor, Elegant Themes, had for my type of business. Maybe having many template choices wouldn't have been beneficial either!
