What challenge were you trying to address with FiveDotTwelve?

We needed a company to help us with mobile app development from the very early concept stage to the finished product. Our goal was to create the best app in the market.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FiveDotTwelve created our iOS and Android mobile app for our football club. They developed it from scratch. The app is for our wonderful fans who want to be informed about the club. We wanted to make it easier for them to find information about the team and matches and also enable them to buy tickets through the app. We also wanted ongoing support because a lot of functionalities weren’t ready yet but we continue to update the application. We decided to go with a native approach because of the number of features. They used Flutter.

They helped with consultation on app marketing and promotion. They advised us on how we should communicate to fans about the application. They also got access to our fan club community before we released the application. They take advantage of consulting with them because our fans are very involved. The team also shared ideas for features. They continue to add features from time to time.

There’s a project manager, a designer, a team of 12 developers, and a QA team.

How did you come to work with FiveDotTwelve?

They were recommended to us. We saw their work before and knew that they could create a successful app.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2016, and our work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app has been a huge success. It’s been ranked in first place on Google Play with an average rating between 4.8–5. We’re selling a lot of tickets through the app. There were over 5,000 downloads in the first 24 hours when we launched the Android version. We were able to increase our sales because more fans prefer to buy tickets through the app. We have over 1,000 reviews on Google Play.

They delivered on time. We were able to have nice features that weren’t in the market at the time, like purchasing tickets. They’re a good group of professionals who try to understand our fans’ needs and our needs as a client. They were able to easily adapt to issues they found in our club regarding the backend and could work out solutions to make it work. Everything went well.

How did FiveDotTwelve perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re very happy with the project management. We stayed in touch the whole time. We knew what was going on at every step. They’re organized and deliver on time. We had direct communication through Slack. We were able to discuss directly with the developers and the designers. Communication was very good. The project manager was very good at keeping us informed at each stage. We used Jira. We had weekly calls. We were able to call any time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to manage the product from the concept stage to the finished product. They were able to advise us on many aspects including marketing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I’d have them improve. We’re happy with their work.

Be transparent. Talk with them. They know what they’re doing. They can use their knowledge and experience to help you make the right choices.

I am the founder and CEO of Corner, a mobile app designed to bring the real-life shopping experience to an online world.

For what projects/services did your company hire , and what were your goals?

We had an MVP with positive feedback from customers and brands but not good enough to scale it. Our challenge was to deploy version 1.0 of the app to enter the market as quickly as possible.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We've done research online, narrowing it down to 3 choices, and chose FDT based on their portfolio, expected start date, the cost to quality ratio.

We had an on-site introductory workshop where we set up goals and expectations for the project. The rest was conducted remotely due to the pandemic with no negative consequences to the efficiency of the workflow.

I mostly worked with a great Project Manager who then oversaw all the development operations on FDT end.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to effectively enter the market in a short period of time and become operational in multiple countires.

The communication was clear and efficient even though at times there were a lot of various topics going on at the same time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have quickness and efficiency in adapting to sudden problems.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps improve the reporting in the beginning but we quickly fixed that and had no troubles afterward.

I’m the CEO and practice manager of MediWeb. I’m a perfusionist by trade. Our mother company is a clinical practice company that manages all the various different departments in hospitals where they do heart surgery.

MediWeb is a part-team critical care concept and clinical virtual education platform whereby we do online continuing medical education programs directed toward cardiac surgeons and surgery.

What challenge were you trying to address with FiveDotTwelve?

We recognized that there are a lot of applications that exist but they’re very broad in scope. We need an application in the field we work in because there’s a series of very specific calculations and information that we need. Instead of having something that was all-encompassing, we wanted to make an app for the specific functionalities we’d use.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided them with all the formulas and references needed to create this application. Then, FiveDotTwelve created samples of what the app would look like. After selecting the one we thought was most user-friendly for our subscriber list and end-users, they then took all of that and created the app from scratch.

They worked closely with our clinical critical care pharmacists and clinicians to validate all of the application’s math. Then, FiveDotTwelve published the app into the App Store and Google Play Store so it could be purchased by the end-users. They took our visual concepts and turned them into a working prototype that we agreed on.

I worked predominately with two team members, including Damian (CEO).

How did you come to work with FiveDotTwelve?

I found them through our web design agency. They referred us to FiveDotTwelve.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $12,000–$13,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was from December 2019–July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They gave a lot of strong guidance to us on how to take the complex formulations and interact with them so they’d be highly reliable and nothing would be miscalculated.

We reviewed the app at the beginning. Clinicians tested it for its accuracy and usability. That was measured by two different sets of people. The accuracy portion was done very quickly; that was amazing to me. The end-user feel of it took a little longer because UI/UX is more nuanced.

How did FiveDotTwelve perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been fantastic. We mostly corresponded through Microsoft Teams and phone calls. We had weekly communication. They treated us like we were their only customer.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their quality, accuracy, dependability, reliability, and honesty.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. If you can come to an agreement in regard to the cost, engage with them. They’re very fair in their cost structure. They’re not the cheapest nor the most expensive. The quality of their work and the quality of the end product makes their cost very reasonable for what you’re getting. There was a high value.

I’m the founder of WeAreBikers.org, an app focused on motorcyclists.

What challenge were you trying to address with FiveDotTwelve?

We were trying to take the needs of bikers in Poland and put them into action.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Once we agreed on a budget, FiveDotTwelve basically took over the project. They figured out what would be best for the app and which technologies they should use. They developed the app for Android and iOS.

One of the requirements was to create a voice chat functionality that would work instantly, rather than having bikers make Bluetooth connections between different helmets. There’s a huge problem with Bluetooth headsets on helmets, because different manufacturers use different protocols, and trying to pair a couple of helmets can take a long time and can seem nearly impossible. We’ve managed to implement online voice communication.

After launching the app, the user’s position on the road is made available instantly.

What is the team composition?

It’s hard to say what the team size was, because I dealt only with the team leads. I believe we had over 18 people working on the app at its peak, but the number fluctuated depending on the task at hand.

How did you come to work with FiveDotTwelve?

I designed the first version of the app, but my skills are very limited. I wasn’t able to push it further after doing a couple of features. I initially hired some developers from India using Freelancer, but it was difficult to communicate with them. Whenever I submitted issues with the app, they claimed that nothing was wrong.

I had an attempt to use a Polish crowdfunding site, and the owner of FiveDotTwelve started talking to me. He liked the idea and wanted to try building the app. I didn’t have funds at the time, but they gave me a price list. I checked them out and found that they were a legitimate Polish company, and their prices weren’t that bad.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve paid them 200,000 Polish zloty (approximately $80,000 USD). This includes server costs and other expenses.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with FiveDotTwelve around October 2018, and we worked intensely until around December of that year. We had a two-month break after that. The app was launched on the app stores in May 2019. They’re continuing to update and enhance the app.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I advertised the app for two weekends when we first launched it, and it quickly spread around bikers in Poland. We got more than 5,000 users during the first motorcycle season, which I think is quite impressive. The app is available in Poland only.

There are other apps that provide bikers locations, but we’ve checked them, and their refresh rates are much lower, in the range of minutes. Our refresh rate is around one second, which is quite impressive.

Overall, I’m happy with what they’ve done. FiveDotTwelve gave me some nice ideas, and the app turned out better than I imagined. There were no other apps like it online, so we struggled with a lot of issues around how to make the app user-friendly. I’d like to work with them again to develop a second version of the app, but I don’t have the budget right now.

How did FiveDotTwelve perform from a project management standpoint?

We didn’t have any setbacks during our project. They managed everything quite well. My goal was to launch the app by the beginning of the season in Poland. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet that deadline because I was still deciding what its UX should be like.

We used Slack for team communication and Trello for task management. We worked in sprints, and we had progress reviews every Thursday.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They communicated well. FiveDotTwelve’s team is young, motivated, passionate about their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I couldn’t say what FiveDotTwelve could improve. They’ve done a great job.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I’d tell them to follow their dreams. I have no specific comments about FiveDotTwelve. They’re doing a great job. I just wish I had a bigger budget in order to develop a second version of the app.

I am a founder and CEO at Onoco Limited. We support parents, family members and nannies to help children reach their full potential during the early years (0-5yrs).

For what projects/services did your company hire FiveDotTwelve?

Having gone through a prolonged UX/UI phase with one of the well-positioned software houses in Warsaw, we decided to hire a different company which could build a good quality iOS and Android apps for a fair price and in a short period of time. FDT delivered on that promise.

What were your goals for this project?

Launch a mobile app on iOS and Android within 6 months.

SOLUTION

How did you select FiveDotTwelve?

The company was recommended to us by another software house which couldn't undertake the task as they didn't have developers coding in Flutter.

Describe the project in detail.

FDT started the project from an in-depth analysis of supplied materials - app requirements documentation and sets of UX/UI screens on Figma. They got back to us with a list of topics to discuss or problems to address before the development starts.

We believe, it helped us to avoid many problems that we would have faced later if no analysis was done. The development phase was very transparent. We maintained access to all materials - including JIRA board, Figma and Slack. There were a few delays and underestimated tasks.

However, it didn't have any impact on the end deadline which we agreed in the contract.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned a team of 2 Flutter developers, 1 backend developer, a project manager, 1 QA.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Onoco has been downloaded more than 3,000 times and received an avg of 4.9 stars in its first month.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We communicated with the team on JIRA (when we needed more details on created tasks), on Figma (to discuss changes/problems with designs) and finally on Slack (to find out about daily progress).

What did you find most impressive about this company?

FDT team really dedicated themselves to deliver an outstanding app - it wasn't just another project on the list to check. They were not only delivering on contractual obligations but also didn't hesitate to propose improvements.

Communication wise it was always great to know that we will get answers quickly and that we can easily set up meetings with the team and keep track of progress. It was a pleasure to work with such a team!

Are there any areas for improvement?

Looking back, there are always things that could have been changed. Overall, we were very happy with their service. Perhaps they could have avoided a few small delays if they had another back-end developer shadowing on the project.

I’m a market manager for the competence center at Knauf. I work in the segment of joint and surface finishing compounds — we produce building materials. Our core business is the production of gypsum boards and plasters — basically, all products related to gypsum.

FiveDotTwelve developed the new version of our app. Now, we use them to maintain the app as well as our websites.

We’ve physically met with two people from their team, but I know that there are more involved. We have a point of contact and there are some designers and developers in the background.

The quality is good overall. Though maintenance work could be done a bit faster, they normally make minor changes very fast.

Communication and project management are excellent. They’re in regular contact with us, and we work together very closely. When we had some specific requests regarding the design, we consulted with them on that and they gave us feedback.

They show interest in our business and we really feel that they care about us. They are invested in how we feel, especially the owner of FiveDotTwelve.

We would’ve wanted small tasks to be done faster, like moving a product in another category or changing some text.

They’re a good company to work with. If the client is open enough and identifies the problem, FiveDotTwelve will be able to fix it. The service has been good overall, and I’d recommend them to future clients.

I had a basic idea about what I wanted the app to do. After putting a few concepts together, I sent them to FiveDotTwelve. They took that starting point and worked with me to develop everything into the final product. There was design, general functionality, project management, coding, implementation, and testing involved. The app is for iOS and Android.

I had a designer and a project manager that I directly dealt with. There were several people in the background. I also frequently touched base with Damian (CEO).

I needed a company that could do a project within my small budget. I didn’t need a huge corporation that wouldn’t give their personal touch. I came to FiveDotTwelve with a very underdeveloped idea. I’m the type of person who needs to see the developments to think about where it goes next. FiveDotTwelve was very interactive with me throughout the process. They listened to my opinions and came back with a further developed idea each time. Their team was willing to change course mid-project if it seemed that a new design or avenue was coming up. We worked well together.

How did FiveDotTwelve perform from a project management standpoint?

I live in Malawai, and they’re in Poland. It wasn’t face-to-face, but we did have weekly Skype calls that included the project manager and designer. Sometimes, we included one of the coders. That process was supported by email. We communicated the status of different aspects through email.

The level of collaboration was impressive. It felt that their team listened to what I was trying to do and put that into place.

We were in the first phase of the project. I came there with some concepts and ideas of what I wanted for the platform, but I didn’t know how to execute the project.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FiveDotTwelve met with me to provide feedback and propose some solutions. After this, they created prototypes and designed the program. It was a web-based application. It’s an online platform where people can register for the service.  

What is the team composition?

We had a project manager, two developers, and one designer working on the project.

I was searching at many startup events. I met them in Norway during one of the events. We had a chat and they were very interested in the service. I decided that it would be good idea to collaborate with them. In general, I knew what the market looked like and the price seemed good. I was also looking at how we were going to work together.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in March 2019 and ended in August 2019. The contract is done, but we’re considering additional features.

People like the site and the solution that we’ve been making. Because of this feedback, we know what we should add on this next run through. In terms of the work they did, it’s very good. We set up deadlines and everything was delivered on time. They have good developers and designers.

Communication was very good. I could follow their progress and communicate via Slack. I also called them and asked questions.

I was very impressed with their professionalism. They had a clear idea of how to complete the project. I really liked that.

A potential customer should work on the idea that he or she wants and spend more time on this part before investing money into the product. It’s most cost-effective to spend more time on ideas and prototyping.

We needed FiveDotTwelve to build an Android/iOS app for our lock solution.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built an app to communicate with our existing cloud solution with an API, which was totally encrypted. They created menus you could walk through with a Bluetooth integration. It displays the lock with the possibility to open it and they also did the frontend architecture.

We worked with three different members of their team.

One of our colleagues had a connection with FiveDotTwelve and introduced us.

We began working together in mid-2017, and wrapped up in May 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've been very pleased with this app. It's really cool and behaves well. It's quick, responsive, and there haven’t been any issues that weren't resolved during testing. Customers have been using it without many complaints. We are happy, and we think it's quite good.

How did FiveDotTwelve perform from a project management standpoint?

We were very satisfied with their communication and project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It's a young and well-motivated team. They answer quickly and keep frequent communication. One of our own engineers even reviewed the app and was impressed. The implementation was also very good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

A few months ago, we had some problems with the app, but they managed to fix them and uploaded a new version.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to follow the SCRUM methodology, and you'll be locked into a well-defined process flow.
