Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the principal consultant of the company. We work on bespoke product solutions with fully customised designs from electronic circuitry to embedded software design.

For what projects/services did your company hire Enable Startup, and what were your goals?

Enable startup was a partner in developing some of the core UI/UX, custom embedded software solutions, mobile app and cloud infrastructure.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have been working with them for many years but never before in a direct manner since we interfaced with our mutual clients. However, their dedicated working philosophy and ability to resolve issues had caught our attention.

They worked on:

1. Android OS compilation
2. Android app development
3. Wireless communication
4. Cloud infrastructure from database to storage.
5. CMS web interface

We have a total of 4 people. 1. UI/UX designer 2. Consultant 3. IoT developer 4. Backend engineer

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have been able to launch a difficult-to-develop project with success. All key performance metrics can be achieved. The team also worked very well and are continually developing the project.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

They work in an agile scrum manner, so it is also quite fast to generate output to showcase results and the communication are mostly done through email and slack. Their project management style is timely and quick to generate results.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are able to be flexible in our requests and quickly meet our needs in the shortest time. Their team is also very capable.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They have been improving on the design documentation but it can be further refined.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

My organization is a programming service company in the Netherlands. I’ve been in business since 2009, mostly doing everything by myself.

What challenge were you trying to address with Enable Startup?

I have several clients in the Netherlands — mostly two large companies. I’ve been working with the first one for about eight years and four years with the other. For a long time, I worked long hours and did everything myself — communication, programming, testing, and so on. Enable Startup took the load off of my back. I’ve been able to pass on almost everything to them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Enable Startup has been doing PHP programming using the Zend framework. They’re using jQuery and Bootstrap for the frontend and databases and MySQL for the backend. They’ve also helped me migrate to the third version of Zend.

The clients keep requesting new features, and we’re basically delivering non-stop.

What is the team composition?

Most of the time, we have two full-time developers working on the project: one mid-level and one junior. Sometimes an additional person is brought on to the team. When we were doing a redesign for one project, we added someone who worked on Photoshop specifically for design. When it’s needed, a tester is added to test the delivered code.

How did you come to work with Enable Startup?

In 2015, I started looking for other companies to support me in providing services because I was a bit tired of the whole programming business. I found some people through Upwork, but I had pretty bad experiences with them. In 2017, I found Enable Startup when I was living in Vietnam. I posted in an expat Facebook group, and a former marketing employee replied to my post. That’s how I got in contact, and I’ve been working with them ever since.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around November 2017, and the project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I think we’ve been able to do much more work for the end client than we were able to do before, but it’s a bit hard to capture that with data or client remarks.

How did Enable Startup perform from a project management standpoint?

The mid-level developer handles the management. First, the client sends a request to me. I translate it and make it technically understandable. The developer decides who is going to pick up the task. When it’s done, they report back to me, and then I test the produced code.

We use Trello to manage the actual tasks. If needed, I give them some additional information on Slack, but some days there is no direct communication between us; Trello is all we need.

Additionally, Enable Startup’s director is very willing to step in if there are technical or communication problems. I can always contact him; he’s online a lot and replies very quickly. If there’s an issue, I can deal with it with him at any time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When I was trying to find additional developers, I had some pretty bad experiences. All in all, I tried about 10 different developers and couldn’t find anyone who was able to both develop and communicate well. The difference with Enable Startup was that they were capable in both areas. In my experience, some developers are technically strong and others are better in communication, so it’s very nice to find a combination of both in one team. I’m really grateful that I found a company that can support me in providing services.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t come up with much at this moment; I just hope they continue doing what they do now.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I think it’d be useful if they were in a similar position as me. I know all the projects, which makes things a lot easier. I don’t have much experience communicating as a non-technical person with them.

Enablestartup show me very detail how to make my idea and solution. other companies cant show or too expensive cost.

first, they make a schedule plan and human plans. next, they used agile and kanban style. smart contract has 100% test code. then we use ERC-223, web3.js

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The system was very easy to use and software reliability is very high. Response to problem and improvement were also very fast.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The technical requirements were usually discussed over 2 rounds prior to implementation. During implementation, there is a design phase and UI phase. This is followed by UAT phase and implementation support.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are very capable and provides innovative solutions.

More developers to take on more projects.
