I’m the director of strategy innovation for a small international social enterprise. My role includes taking care of developing our web platform.

We were working with another software development provider, but our partnership wasn’t working out.  We engaged with eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd for the ongoing development and maintenance of our web platform. We’re working with them to rebuild a part of the product and move it to another server.

They’re managing our platform, which has a MySQL database, a Laravel PHP backend, and Vue.js on the frontend. They also provide frontend design and coding in HTML and CSS. They also conduct QA testing and deploy it to the live server.

What is the team composition?

We have three developers, including one senior and two regular software engineers. On top of that, we work with a team lead, a part-time designer, and a part-time QA tester.

We were looking for someone reliable that could pick up the project and run with it. We’ve worked with some of their team members on a separate project in the past. Our CEO has been in close contact with eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd for many years. We knew that they would be accommodating if we needed to change the team composition or scale hours.

The current engagement began in September 2018 and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re generally happy with the quality of eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd’s work. We assess how effective they are, how quickly they work, and the quality of their solutions. Although we’re satisfied with their deliverables, the speed at which they work is average and they could improve it.

We also measure downtime and track conflicts between new code and existing parts of the system. On the business side, we look at customer satisfaction with the platform.

The team has a positive attitude and they truly align with our business. Our partnership has been successful and we enjoy working with them, which is why we’ve worked with them for so long.

How did eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re using Trello for project management and Figma for collaborative wireframing and design. Communication is mainly through Skype and we have daily standup calls with the team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

On the project management side, their contact person has always taken a proactive approach in working with us and getting our feedback for the team and on any future business plans. eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd adjusts resource allocation accordingly, and that’s important for us.

As a small company, they have the flexibility that we want so we can negotiate with them. We recommend them to other companies because we always feel like a valued customer.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have a clause in the contract saying that, if a dedicated resource leaves their company, they will find a replacement. We were given very short notice for this transition, and we weren’t able to choose our replacement. Recently, a senior developer was replaced by someone with less experience, which can affect the viability of the project and the speed of work.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

One thing that has really worked for us is being bold in negotiating contractual arrangements, pricing, and their flexibility in increasing or decreasing hours and the team size. Setting expectations up front will set the tone for the relationship and allow clients to get the most out of eLuminous Technologies Pvt Ltd.

I had been trying to expand and bring the website to the next level via backend operations integration which including data analytics, blockchain enabled payment gateway, mobile app development, etc. I had been trying to find good IT partners as part of this journey and glad that I had found them over the internet.

As the partnership continue to extend, they will be responsible in developing all the 6 phases (some mentioned above). Ultimately, I want to bring this project to global level, and benefitting any users that signed up this service.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had a zoom call with few of them and I really like how they organized the materials and be very specific on the deliverables. They also suggested other solutions (which often is better) based on their experience which is critical for me, as I relied on their expertise for the best user experience for the users.

Sandip has been very professional during the first engagement and left a very deep good impression and would like to continue to work with him and his team. In addition, as they understood I'm constraint of budget yet needed to deliver this as part of my long term dream, they had accommodated and trying to provide solutions in an innovative way - which is one of the core strength of Pravin which I in love with his professionalism and great attitude.

Sandip initially had setup a kickoff call to discuss the requirement which later drafted into key deliverables. Once that's confirmed, he scheduled a separate call with Pravin, team lead in ensuring alignment for both parties. So as there are 6 phases as part of the implementation, Sandip and Pravin had supported the 1st phase and we are in the process of planning the 2nd phase. The 1st phase covers on social media login, Google Map API configuration, payment gateway integration and finally user entitlements.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Sandip is the friendly and knowledgeable business development manager and Pravin is the smart, think outside of the box, can-do attitude knowledgeable team lead. They are probably the best people I had worked so far in IT and would hope for continuous partnership for longest time.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As this is the first phase, is very important for me to ensure that the site was setup properly such as social media login, user entitlements, Google Map API to ensure best customer experience. Pravin or myself normally will do a screensharing to discuss the current progress on the deliverables. In the event if there are any hiccups, such as Facebook login approval (subject to Facebook), Pravin will clearly communicate and be very transparent on these. Honesty and transparency is what made this partnership fulfilling.

We had very frequent catch up and Sandip / Pravin even setup a Whatsapp group and in case anything, this can be communicated over Whatsapp. Even though i understood they always wanting to deliver best in class in terms of quality and timeline, is not as per my requirement as long is quality output. They had so far exceeded every of my expectations and i believe they will continue to do so.

They (Sandip and Pravin) are very professional and knowledgeable with what they are doing. They are very understanding knowing I have a very tight budget given this is self funded project and they will always provide best in class solution while taking consideration of these constraints.

They are very easy to talk to and quick to understand the objective of the business plan. In the event they have better ideas, they will also share with you.

As we are currently on our 1st phase of development, so far there's none. Would definitely share across if there's any.

eLuminous approached us in 2019 and we did a POC project. The cooperation turned out to be very effective so we started the doctor's office project, as well as other projects with eLuminous.

eLuminous built a backend and frontend system for the ordination, as well as native patient's smartphone apps for iOS and Android. In addition three different tablet apps were developed being using in the ordination.

The core teams consisted of 4 developers sharing tasks with others on demand. In addition we were in frequent contact with a technical project manager, general project manager and account manager.
