BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a full-time training manager at an investment and insurance company, but, on the side, I do marketing projects as a freelancer. I’m a freelance marketing solution.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Egenie Next(web solutions)?

I was looking for someone to do some development work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Essentially, they were bringing the graphic design to life with an HTML file and creating a URL of that file so we could test mobile responsiveness and appearance. They enabled the functionality of the graphic design. The file is a review that my client collects. It’s supposed to be responsive, and certain buttons – a click to call option – should work. They brought that to life.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with Usman (Co-Founder, Egenie Next Solutions), but I don’t know if he had people behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Egenie Next(web solutions)?

A graphic designer friend of mine recommended them to me. I talked to other people as well, but we got along with Egenie the most. He offered a great value proposition.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $6,500 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since January 2019. We’re always making little tweaks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As far as metrics, it’s top-notch. The site is fast, responsive, and the functionality is exactly what I envisioned. I didn’t spell it out either; he took it and ran with it. It’s enabled my client to grow and collect reviews for their clients.

How did Egenie Next(web solutions) perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very responsive. I would send him an email and immediately get a reply. He communicates clearly. There wasn’t a lot of chasing him around. He’s juggling different projects, but he made me feel like mine was the only project he was working on.

They’re good about sharing status updates as well, letting me know if they have a question or how far along they are. I’m never wondering what’s going on. Oftentimes you’re wondering how much work the developer has done, but I never have to wonder about that. Because I then have something to tell my client, some details about the progress, it keeps their excitement and buy-in high.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s their communication. He’s a developer that has a marketing side to him. He has ideas about how to increase sales and buy-in. Most developers will just give you what you want, even if they think it stinks. Usman was very proactive and told me how to make it better. Their code was outstanding, but the suggestions on feasibility stood out the most.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be nice if he could expand his availability by phone, as well as a greater introduction to other team members, if he does have other team members.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go in with a vision and be very descriptive with him. Don’t assume that he isn’t going to have advice. Share full details of the project so he can give you advice; it’s been very helpful to me.
