Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder and CEO of Mevzu Teknoloji A.Ş., based in İstanbul, Turkey.

For what projects/services did your company hire Dnieper.co, and what were your goals?

We wanted to develop a gamified matchmaking app and hired Dnieper in order to build a scaleable product from scratch.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I know that the founder of Dnieper was the key developer who built Scotty (a mobility app in Turkey). I know that he built a solid product which scaled shortly and was responsible to manage a team there.

Back then, Mevzu was only an idea. The product team of Dnieper, set a series of meetings to make the core flow clear for everyone. After a week working on the project, Dnieper team suggested technology stacks to use and a deadline to deliver the MVP. After having a handshake, on daily and weekly basis, they reported the progress.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Headcount of 7 worked for Mevzu MVP project. The team consisted of a tech team lead, a product manager, backend and frontend developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

In a month, we managed to reach 1166 people as test users. MVP worked perfectly fine.

Even though I was in a mass, they managed the whole process smartly.

Their experiences and communication frequency/style.

I was very happy with the result. I didn't see any development areas.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Manuscript is a book publishing and education company. We have educational content around book writing and book creation, and we have programs around book publishing. I’m the head of publishing at the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dneiper.co?

One of the things we do quite frequently is send messages through our platform, Quip. That messaging effort can be really time-consuming, so we wanted to develop a tool that would allow us to more quickly, easily, and efficiently reach out to authors. That is why we hired Dnieper.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dnieper developed an automation tool for us, which we use to send messages through our platform.

Once we identified that Dnieper was the team we wanted to work with, we had a strategy-planning call to align on the core things we wanted to accomplish with the tool. We used that opportunity to get a really get clear and crisp idea of what it was going to do, how it was going to do it, and what other capabilities will have within it. 

We informed Dnieper that we wanted to schedule activities and monitor replies, among other things, on the automation tool. When we aligned on that, they created a rough skeleton of how the tool would look. We gave our comments and feedback on the UX, making sure all the information was incorporated and that the tool would be usable by anyone on our team, even without too much training. 

Once we felt good about the direction of the development, Dnieper went into production. We gave them in-the-moment feedback to iterate on the development and design of it.

What is the team composition?

I primarily worked with three people: Sergii (Strategic Advisor), a web developer, and an accounts person.

How did you come to work with Dneiper.co?

We found them on Upwork, and we chose them because they’d previously worked on automation tools. Although they hadn’t previously built one for Quip, they had experience in the space and had worked on other technologies we were interested in. That’s what differentiated them to us.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost was $5,000–$10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from July–September 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The feedback on the tool was largely positive. It helped us automate and accelerate some of the tasks and activities that we do on our side of the business. It also enabled us to be more efficient with our outreach, messaging, response tracking, and organization.

How did Dneiper.co perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through a mix of email and Upwork. As progress was being made, we held a weekly call. We took that time to ask questions their team questions and discuss updates on the development. Dnieper usually responded within 12–18 hours, but oftentimes it would be 4–6 hours, despite the time zone difference. If we wanted to have a call, they’d schedule time on their calendar within 24–48 hours.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best part about our engagement was the energy Dnieper brought. They were incredibly positive go-getters who showed excitement and commitment to the project. At no point did I feel that they had other things going on in the background. It felt like they were prioritizing us and our project. It was a really good dynamic that we had.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were phenomenal to work with all around.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go into the project knowing exactly what you want to do. You should have a very clear vision of what the idea behind the project is because that will enable Dnieper to go deep and multiply the value of that idea across the board. The clearer you can be about it, the more enjoyable and fun it’s going to be and the better Dnieper will be able to help you make something special.

The only problem was we were in different countries but the world has changed and remote work more accepted now.
