How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?
We emailed back and forth about how things were going, and despite the changes they made, nothing worked. After two months, the engagement was really going downhill. I was very dissatisfied that I had to keep spending more and more money on fees without seeing any results. Over the course of the next month, business kept dropping.
How did Disruptive Advertising address the challenges that arose?
I gave them a lot of suggestions from my previous vendor. Disruptive said they would implement those changes, but no results came.
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.
We dropped 50% of our business and spent much more than we usually did. The worst thing that they did was in the middle of this month, when we told them we couldn’t afford to keep going with no results. Their response was to charge us more.

They had very bad management; all they cared about as collecting money. When we called our account manager, she screamed at us and hung up the phone. Upper management started emailing us that it didn’t matter if we’re satisfied because they weren’t bound to provide us results.

They didn’t do anything well.

They should have brought in more people who could do the work. They were focused on making sure we paid them (and therefore charged us in advance) rather than hiring capable people.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Disruptive has helped us with our email marketing, and Andrew (Marketing Consultant) has worked with us on separating emails that we send out to customers. Through the emails, we learn about what people like, what they’ve bought, and whether the gift boxes they buy are for themselves or others. The team has also worked on our vending cart. They also send out any newsletters or new product alerts for us. Their resources also come up with creative assets for the emails.
Moreover, Sammy (Digital Marketing Consultant) handles our Google Ads efforts. When people look up keywords related to fitness, gift boxes, or vegan food, we try to show up on search results. We sometimes provide Sammy with keywords, and then she goes more in-depth with them. In terms of scripting, I usually give them a theme, which may be about giving a gift to a loved one. Then, they come up with everything else. If I don’t give them a theme, they still come up with a script. We’re also getting into video ads, and we provide them with as many assets as we can to help them do their job.
Meanwhile, they’ve given me feedback on the changes that we should make to our website. They tell us what’s more effective in terms of convincing people to go to our landing page. However, they themselves haven’t gone into the site to make changes.

We mainly work with three people from Disruptive. Our team communicates with Sammy and Andrew on a daily basis. However, every month or every two weeks, their manager reaches out to us to ask how they’re doing and to make sure that we’re happy with the service.

To communicate, we do Zoom meetings every two weeks. We also use emails every day, especially if we have updates or if they need anything from us. Our team can simply send them an email and they reply within an hour.

Overall, Disruptive was great to work with in terms of communication, timeliness, and very professional. Very nice, smart group of people to work with. Unfortunately, we just didn't see the uptick in results that we were promised so it only made sense to revert back to running the account internally. By running the campaigns internally, we reached better results and saved money.

Workflow was great. We met at a regular cadence each week over video conference.

They could increase the reporting to more of a dashboard style reporting, but we aren't running tons of different campaigns so what they provide is sufficient for our needs.
