Disruptive Advertising helps us with our overall digital strategy. Their services include managing social media content, creating and managing Google Ads, developing and managing marketing plans, and creating marketing strategies. They’ve also done competitor research and identified different keywords to use in our campaigns. Additionally, they’ve identified areas of improvement in our website not only to attract more customers but to keep them on our site longer.
The platforms that Disruptive Advertising manages for us include our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. They also handle our Google My Business and Google Ads accounts. The content they launch is both paid and organic, including blogs with different topics to leverage, which they then use to create infographics and other collateral.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with around five people from Disruptive Advertising. Whenever I need to add something new to our efforts, they bring in a specialist in that area; they have specialists for everything.

I found them on Google. After that, I researched them, vetted them, and called some references who had worked with them. Ultimately, we decided to move forward with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
After launching our first Google Ads campaigns, we immediately saw a 40% increase in the type of leads we wanted, including demo and mystery shop requests. We were able to convert at our normal conversion rate, which was very strong by itself. In other words, they added top-quality opportunities to our top-more funnel without compromising our conversions. Thus, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.

Disruptive has been a partner of Northpass for around three years now. We initially sought out an agency that would scale our PPC ads, but we received so much more. Disruptive not only scaled our PPC but helped us create a full digital strategy which we relied on heavily.
From website optimization to competitive analysis, Disruptive gave our team the tools to be successful and succeed in different economic environments. Through our work with Disruptive, Northpass was able to generate a 4:1 ROAS for PPC.

The Disruptive team deserves an A+ for communication. My main POC, Kyle, was a pleasure to work with. He answered questions same-day through our connected Slack channel and video tutorials. Additionally, our entire Disruptive team would handle large projects within days and have a full breakdown ready after each deliverable was completed.

Disruptive can adapt. This is indeed what was most impressive about them. Too many agencies will run the same playbook over and over again and expect the same results. With Disruptive, they could pivot strategies quickly and make adjustments that fit our business model.
We are a SaaS business, so the market was much different in 2021 than in 2023. This required a significant adjustment to our company GTM strategy, and Disruptive Advertising was right alongside us, making changes that met the economy's demands.

When we first started, we had 2-3 people on our account, but our main account manager was pretty disconnected and it wasn't a great fit, produced little results. She either left the company or was let go, and we were assigned Blake and Adnan to our account, and the results started to drastically change! We rely heavily on Paid Search for our leads, and the results really started to blow us away.
Blake and Adnan are always willing to meet on short notice, to send over quick updates jump on a call in between our weekly schedule meetings. We had monthly goals that were tracked daily, and progress is discussed on weekly calls. We're very happy with Disruptive, but especially with Blake and Adnan! We just started using them for email services. We haven't had enough time to produce results yet, and it is taking a bit to get set up, but we're hopeful for similar results.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO of Honey Bee Stamps. We design and manufacture our own line of paper craft supplies and sell 100% online to both retail customers and craft stores (at wholesale) around the world.

For what projects/services did your company hire Disruptive Advertising?
We were completely new to advertising and wanted to start reaching new customers and really get our name out there. We started with CRO, Facebook / Instagram advertising and Google ads - and have since added Pinterest advertising.

How did you select this vendor?
I asked around in our Shopify Plus community for recommendations of advertising agencies to check out and Disruptive was one of them that was recommended. We interviewed about 5 agencies, and Disruptive felt like the best fit.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
We started with a series of discovery meetings to make sure that Disruptive would be a good fit. Once we decided to go with them, we had a meeting to discuss the best approach. They did a deep dive in to our business and metrics to make recommendations on which platforms we should tackle, as well as helped us create a budget to get us started. They also recommended CRO for us, which we did for the first year, and made some excellent changes to our website that really did help increase our conversions.
What was the team composition?
Once we had our discovery meeting and created a plan, they set us up with a Project Manager to oversee our account. They also matched us up with individual platform managers who would best fit our scope to create a solid team for our project. We work closely with our team and chat once or twice per month to make sure we are all on the same page and agree to their visions for what to try with advertising for the next month and quarter strategies.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We almost constantly see results of 10x or MORE on every platform. We have had wild success with our brand in particular on Pinterest, and sometimes see ROAs of 20x!

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a co-founder at Doomlings, a game company. We also develop intellectual properties that can be turned into TV shows, mobile games, and video games.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Disruptive Advertising?
We hired them to take over and run all of our digital marketing.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Disruptive Advertising is in charge of all our advertising and marketing relating to our games' sales. They run our email marketing, conversion rate optimization (CRO), social media marketing (SMM), and PPC efforts. Initially, we provided them with a set of benchmarks. As part of our monthly scope, they have a dedicated set of deliverables that range widely from static ads to video ads to GIFs.
For PPC, they run campaigns on Google and YouTube. As for email marketing, Disruptive Advertising has built all of our flows, from post-purchase to abandoned carts, as well as a journey for people to learn about our company. They also do copywriting and design assets by adapting existing material. The team runs 25–40 email campaigns a year. Additionally, they've built out an SMS marketing strategy for us.
They help with SMM on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. They also do a bit of work on Pinterest and Snapchat. Since we're a media company, we create many of our own assets, and Disruptive Advertising works in tandem with us, delivering more creative assets.
Disruptive Advertising's CRO team has helped us run A/B tests to test 1–2 things at a time, such as button placements or pathways, to make our user's journey more effortless. They've also helped us respond to instances when we're out of inventory and need to change the site's backend to our Amazon account, where we have stock, explaining why to users in the process. The team has also helped us build a post-purchase upsell.
Currently, we're getting ready to release new products in the spring of 2023: a set of plushies and trading cards for our game. Disruptive Advertising will be working on the campaign leading up to the launch to carry the products into the mass market.
What is the team composition?
We've worked with nine teammates from Disruptive Advertising. We've had a consistent team for email marketing and digital ad spending, though CRO has a bit more turnover; we've had a new CRO teammate every 3–5 months. Additionally, we have an account manager, a sales contact, and someone on their legal team who jumps in when we want to expand the scope.
How did you come to work with Disruptive Advertising?
My business partner found them through online research. We interviewed five agencies, and Disruptive Advertising was the most impressive.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $14,000 a month with Disruptive Advertising. This fee has grown as our scope of work has increased; it began at around $9,000–$10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in September 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thanks to Disruptive Advertising, we’ve increased our revenue 5X in 2022, which has been remarkable; we went from around a $1 million yearly gross revenue to about $5 million. They’ve been able to scale us up from an ad spend perspective very responsibly in a way that hasn’t compromised our return on ad spend (ROAS). These kinds of results take time and a very thoughtful effort.
Our revenue proportions by the program have remained relatively even. For example, email marketing accounts for 30%–33% of our revenue, and that’s stayed the same as we’ve scaled up. Every single department has met the moment and has been able to continue scaling up, which is a testament to Disruptive Advertising’s consistency.
Additionally, Disruptive Advertising was instrumental in bringing us on to TikTok at a time when it wasn’t necessarily a sure bet, and that has really changed the trajectory of our revenue. Since then, TikTok has become our primary focus on social media, and the team has very experienced resources working on our account.
Sometimes, they surprise us by delivering extra assets as part of our deliverables, such as an animation of one of our game’s characters for the holidays. This cool initiative has gone above and beyond. They’re always thinking about how to have fun with our band and push the creative envelope.
Initially, they took over from another advertising agency that had struggled to scale us up because they didn’t have the needed expertise in different areas of specialization. We’ve been really impressed by Disruptive Advertising because they have a dedicated person for each area of expertise we need.
How did Disruptive Advertising perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve had one account manager throughout the program who’s always on top of it. Disruptive Advertising is very responsive. They’ve worked through Thanksgiving holiday in 2021 and 2022 and have been on call for Black Friday. Even though we’re all in different cities and work remotely, that hasn’t affected results or performance.
We primarily communicate through Slack. We’ll start using a Miro board in January 2023 for email marketing campaigns to have visibility on them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Disruptive Advertising’s strength is their ability to perform consistently. Each department has stayed steady as we’ve scaled up, which indicates that they’ve built at least for the scope we’re at and likely for larger scopes, which is nice.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only thing that could improve would be to have a shorter learning process. Learning a client’s needs takes time, as does being able to anticipate them. However, in an ideal situation, that learning curve would have been tighter, but by the third month, we were hand-in-glove and aligned, which I appreciate. Other than that, I don’t have any major complaints, and we resolve minor issues with the appropriate authority level.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear with your deliverables upfront in the contract negotiation. As a former commercial director, I’m very timeline oriented. When the engagement with Disruptive Advertising is successful — and it will be — you’ll want to go back to the contract and lock in the deliverables.

I've known and worked with Disruptive for years. This is the 4th company I've been with where I've hired them. In every single case, it's been a success. To me, they feel like a true partner.

Rather than go into huge specific detail as that would give away some of our business model that I'm not really interested in talking about, let me say this. We have a complicated set of objectives. There is an e-commerce portion of our business and a straight-up lead gen portion. In both cases, Disruptive set out to build a strategy, worked with us on ad creation and targeting and set everything in motion quickly. Right now, all I can tell you is that the campaign has been successful!

My account manager is Jonni and she is amazing. I've also been working with Michael on the Google side (who has been doing a bang up job) and Dane on the social media side.

Nothing specific, but let's say this. They have moved fast, decisively, and strategically. Just like I always expect from Disruptive.

We use email almost exclusively but we did use slack for a while. Look, Jonni is always on top of the communication. Like, always. I never have to wait for a response, she always has to wait on me. But she's very persistent when she needs to be in a good way. It's a skill.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They deliver. Every. single. time. That's it. That's the thing.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
There always are, but honestly, I'll keep that in house. The reality is that no agency is perfect, and neither is Disruptive, but they're so focused on making sure the experience is good AND that they deliver results. Anything they need to improve upon is more situational based than anything else.

MyHealthTeam is an umbrella of social networks within the health space that allows people with chronic conditions to meet others living with the same chronic condition. We provide medically reviewed info, tips, treatments, etc to help them better manage their day-to-day lives and minimize the impact of their chronic conditions. I am the Growth Marketing Manager and I lead the Disruptive team to promote each individual network to grow its member base using paid social and paid search.

Our company pivoted from a volume goal to a cost-per-new-member goal. This involved a deeper analysis of each platform, the quality of the audience, and more importantly - how do we keep our CPAs low and consistent?
Being within the health industry, targeting audiences is a very sensitive and personal situation, so we also wanted to be mindful of how we were targeting people living with chronic conditions. In addition to this, our internal team is just me, so I needed a team that was knowledgeable in each platform and be able to scale out strategies across a large number of campaigns.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Disruptive has worked with MHT for ~1.5 years before I transitioned to my role. The team was intelligent, responsive, and collaborative - always keeping our company's goals in mind when planning/executing strategies so I knew I wanted to continue working with them. When we pivoted our company goals, they were proactive in getting us data and recommended strategies.

The work included managing ~20 conditions on facebook, google, and bing - as well as creative production for each condition across each platform. We used GSuite to keep track of creatives and budget pacing as well as platform CACs.

I worked with 3-5 members from Disruptive. I worked almost daily with 3 members: an account manager, a social media specialist, and a paid search specialist. The other 2 members were on the creative team and we met monthly to review creative pitches.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The team reduced our CPA by 25% and have kept it consistently within the lower range. This was exactly the result we were looking for.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow between our teams is seamless and based on mutual trust and communication. We kept each other updated on changes (big and small) on the campaigns and the team was always punctual with the deadlines.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The team is really knowledgeable and willing to share what they know. They take the time to explain why they recommended certain strategies and they were always open to try new things. They are always extremely helpful when I have random questions about platforms or propose new ideas/strategies.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
An area of improvement would be an increased focus on data and optimization tracking (i.e. being able to tie in a decrease or increase in CACs due to certain optimizations they've made).

There have been several successful strategies and test learnings over the years, but I will highlight our success with Google Ads. The program had been struggling for years and with Disruptive's strategy and focus Google has emerged as an important, and efficient growth engine that continues to receive additional budget.

We meet each Wednesday to track results, hear recommendations, and make necessary adustments. At the beginning of each month we are presented with results from the month prior, key learnings, and strategy for the month ahead. This cadence and structure works well within our team and has produced positive results.

What I find most impressive is the deep understanding of our company's goals. With the same two account reps, it's as if they truly are on our team internally.
