Our company is a startup, and I am a business development associate.

What challenge were you trying to address with Digital Champ?

We needed a new website design to be implemented. We had the design developed somewhere else, and we just needed to implement it. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The design was a PDF, and Digital Champ needed to create the code from scratch by looking at the PDF. I provided imagery, pictures, and the code for the color scheme. 

They didn’t have access to our internal code because of the sensitive data we’re dealing with, so he had to create that on his own. 

What is the team composition?

I only worked with Faizan (Full-Stack Website Developer & Designer).

How did you come to work with Digital Champ?

On 99designs, there was an option to let the coders know if you needed the implementation of a certain design. He contacted me by email, and then we took it to Skype. We negotiated the price and timelines on Skype.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around 600 GBP (Approximately less than $10,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them in October of 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their code was easy-to-read and scalable—we’re very happy with it. The website works well. The person who integrated their code with our database said it worked seamlessly. There were minor bits he needed to re-adjust, but that is normal in this context because they didn’t have access to our initial code or database.

How did Digital Champ perform from a project management standpoint?

He was very responsive, and he worked well under pressure. We had a very tight deadline with around three days to finish it. He was working un-human hours, and I’m not sure he even slept. 

Normally, these things take at least a week but he was able to do it in 3–4 days. He would respond within 15-20 minutes. The longest he ever took to get back to me was after 1-2 hours, but that was when I sent follow-up questions after he finished the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

He was willing to interrupt his workflow just to respond to me to calm me down. He manages communication very well. He welcomed feedback, and he was very calm when dealing with me when I was stressed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the future, he could take more time to read the client’s requirements. Sometimes he misses things just to respond quickly. I appreciated the fact that he responded to me so fast. But, I think it’s worth taking your time to get it right the first time. 

Given the nature of his job and the tight deadline, I understand why he wanted to respond so quickly. In the future, he could take this into consideration for longer-term clients who aren’t on such tight deadlines.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give as much information as you can to Digital Champ. Everything should be bullet-pointed, and it should be very clear. Also, give as much information as possible about the deployment of the project (e.g. if you will be working with your own database or other coders to implement the project). It will ensure a good relationship between the coder and the project.

Service was terrible. very long response times and the website is very buggy. Also, I had to pay extra for speed optimization, but even then, the site was still not perfect.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Looking at this person's portfolio, I thought he was the one who could do accurate coding, so I asked him.

Using Skype chat, I passed the pre-created design and data to the other party. The first draft was completed in 6 days, After that, after multiple corrections, all the tasks were completed.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Not only has this been an affordable venture for our company, but the work has been superb, completely timely and support is always there when/if we need it.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our project manager has been our sole contact and we have communicated through email and Skype. Very smooth and seamless communication.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Quick turnaround, eager and willingness to help with extra requests and further work outside the scope of the original job.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is very little that could be improved. Our project manager has even been extremely helpful and available despite being in different time zones.
