Throughout the tenure of our partnership with Coderland, we completed approximately 38 projects. At the outset, our principal objective was to outsource non-core developments—such as e-commerce plug-ins for our payment gateway and SDKs and libraries in multiple programming languages—in order to streamline the work of external developers.

As the collaboration matured, Coderland undertook increasingly sophisticated initiatives, including the integration of a remittance system for Latin-American countries via BBVA Transfer Services and the incorporation of Shift4 as an additional acquiring channel within our payment gateway.

By contrast, for internal initiatives—or when we had full-time personnel dedicated exclusively to us—communication was conducted on a daily basis. Whenever an issue arose with a developer, Coderland responded promptly and resolved the underlying problem without delay.

We've prepared documents with the candidate profiles we're looking for and given them to Coderland by Dominion. These profiles are focused on social media and digital knowledge. Additionally, we need our new teammates to be able to locate users on social media, so we've asked for candidates with user acquisition talents. 

I'm in charge of onboarding new employees, and Coderland by Dominion has helped us coordinate the training between the new team members and myself.

What we’ve asked from them is outside of their core services; the types of profiles we need aren't the type they usually work with. Therefore, this engagement has been a challenge for Coderland by Dominion, and they’ve overcome it with flying colors.

Coderland by Dominion's services have allowed us to save time in the HR area, as we've avoided doing the initial interviews to find a candidate. They've also helped us save a lot of time managing these resources because if we start working with a candidate that doesn't fit, they change this person immediately. Initially, we worked with a different developer, but we weren't happy with the results, so they got us a new developer in less than a week.

Our current developer matches the development speed we have internally, but working with him is less expensive than hiring an in-house engineer. Therefore, working with Coderland by Do-minion has helped us save around 20% on costs and around 15–20 hours of work.

Coderland by Dominion delivers on time and on budget. We mainly communicate via phone calls and emails.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Coderland by Dominion has been helping us develop technology-based platforms to manage our staff and development projects within our company. The latest project that we’ve worked on is an internal back-office application, which they took from the former development team and expanded in terms of functionality and maintenance. 

Regarding the processes for these projects, our internal team is in charge of creating requirements for each task, which include development and staff augmentation. They send those requirements to an internal analysis area that makes functional documentation and then work on creating the product. In terms of technologies, since we have to integrate with the rest of our tech stack, which is legacy applications, we want them to use Java for coding and PostgreSQL databases.
