At Nymbl Systems, we engaged Binary Studio to augment both our QA and development functions as we scaled our healthcare SaaS platform. The initial scope focused on quality assurance services, including manual and exploratory testing, regression testing, and validation of critical workflows across areas like billing, inventory, and third-party integrations.

In addition to QA, we also brought on a dedicated developer from Binary’s team to support a complex integration between our system and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This integration involved synchronizing purchasing data and financial transactions between platforms, requiring strong communication, clean API development, and a deep understanding of ERP workflows.

Their structured testing and documentation also helped us reduce bug-related customer tickets by over 30% within the first quarter of partnership. By introducing better test coverage and consistent validation processes, our internal product and engineering teams were able to focus more on roadmap delivery and less on firefighting regressions.

They ramped up on our complex healthcare platform remarkably fast. We initially contacted Binary Studio for frontend development on React. The product heavily focuses on internal communication tools, collaboration, and staff directory. The main feature is creating documents, articles, pages, or policies that users could consume.

Binary Studio also does testing, but we just contacted them for custom software.

We started working with them in January 2022, and our partnership will continue up to the middle of May 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The product hasn’t been released yet, but we focus on how much we can get done daily and the quality of the work we’re releasing to ensure we’re disciplined. We have automated tests with test coverage checks against them to ensure that the frontend has a good amount of coverage; that’s done via GitHub by checking the developers' actual pull requests (PR).

We also make sure the developers are writing the tests, so there’s a threshold for how much code coverage can dip per PR.

How did Binary Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet our deadlines. We have a daily call with the front- and backend teams and use Google Meet and Google Chat to communicate.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Alik (Software Engineer) is the senior teammate; he’s great to work with. He knows exactly what he’s talking about and is definitely a leader. Moreover, Alik provides a lot of insight on how we should work with React.

Additionally, Alik recommended Roman (Software Engineer), and we’ve been satisfied with his work. He’s part of the team.

The level of support we get from them, especially from the developers, is outstanding. We’re also impressed by how they nurture the developers and the program they use to train them so they’re ready for real-world projects.

Overall, Binary Studio pushes out high-quality work; it’s worth the money we invest.

Don’t hold back in terms of how much work you give them or the task's difficulty. Binary Studio will find someone who can overcome that hurdle; they have capable people. I’d recommend testing the waters as much as possible and seeing how much you can push them; they can handle it.

Beyond their impressive development skills, flexibility and dedication to the deliverables, they showed a commitment to the project as if they were part of our company. This is the third time I've used Binary Studio, and each time they've delivered with quality and reliability. But most impressive is that they treated each engagement as if they owned it. They would make recommendations even when they were not solicited that would result in a better product or process down the road.

It's a slight inconvenience that they are in the Ukraine and currently their infrastructure isn't as reliable as it could be. Sending them physical devices takes a while and is not reliable. However, I would expect when the war has concluded this problem will go away.

The team participates in the requirements capturing phase and helps the product owner to design the features in the most efficient way. Afterwards, they document the architectural decisions and upon review by the product owner/scrum master they estimate the effort and provide a roadmap. Together with scrum master they plan the sprints and the releases. 

Quality assurance is the team's responsibility too therefore they have to define test plans, implement automated tests and run manual pre-release testing. Finally the team adjusts the build jobs and creates the final artifacts.

Reasonably precise estimation of tasks for the complexity of the project. Very few hot fixes required through all those years. Immediate reaction of the team to customer requests/support. Increasing interest of market for the product due to reliability and low maintenance.

The team is always proactive and this is something usually missing from engineering people. They are very transparent and have great communication skills which makes understanding of the project needs and priorities really very easy. 

Agile process demands developers who can tolerate change of plans and a can-do mentality, which all Binary-Studio members have. Through the project's lifetime when the team's' composition had to be adjusted due to e.g. changes of technology, Binary Studio provided the right candidates very promptly.

It is amazing that although all developers are very competent technically, they do not have strong opinion and are interested in the business value first. This is very rare in the software development world and makes life very easy.

Not really! I have worked as a scrum muster/team leader for more than 20 years with developers from all over the world. Binary Studio is not only the most efficient team I ever had but also the most pleasant one.

The projects included adding additional features to this platform in line with expansion priorities, as well as implementing findings from pen test, and working concurrently alongside team creating mobile app version of the calendar tools.

Vlad is a truly talented developer who pre-empted issues and worked to build solutions into his work. He was communicative and made the effort to learn the purpose of the work so that he was not just literally interpreting tickets but finding better ways to do them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Binary Studio could have done differently?

We had a couple of teething problems at the beginning until we had an effective set up for ways of working, as they take the lead of the team they are joining, but we were primarily used to in-house developers and so had mostly in-person ways of working. In the end, we implementing a project management system in JIRA where Binary reported their tasks as ready for testing, and they reported their progress daily so that we could check that there were no estimates blowing out or blockers we hadn't heard about.

I am the CEO of PavementSoft the industry's leading paving and concrete service management software.

For what projects/services did your company hire Binary Studio, and what were your goals?

We hired Binary to support us as we deployed our software nationwide to serve the paving and concrete contractors. We needed to take our framework and move it to the cloud and develop a mobile app to allow for use on the go.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Binary came highly recommended by a partner of ours who had previously worked with them in developing custom-built billing software. We met with management and discussed the parameters of our project and saw quickly that they held the resources and expertise to effectively lead our development needs.

We have worked together for a number of years in a lean development environment with multiple iterations of our service. We began as a web interface and moved to a full mobile stack to reach more of our users who are out in the field and on the job.

We were able to launch our project 6 months prior to plan and have been able to stay ahead of our competition. Our dedicated development team has been instrumental to help us see around the next corner and keep our competitive advantages. We remain as the industry's leading ERP and we work daily to keep our lead in the market together with our devoted team.

We rely on a lean project management style with kanban development boards and daily stand-ups. Our results have consistently outpaced our expectations. We contribute our speed and success to the ability to communicate quickly and effectively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The direct development resources have been the highlight of working with Binary. We have forged strong friendships and partnerships with the developers that we work with day in and day out. We have experienced immediate interaction and response from our team which has been a great lift to us as we have been on tight development timelines. Communication has been impeccable, and we view our relationship as a true partnership where our resources have had the helpful insight that is above the scope of their work and beyond the checkbox of developent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Over the past years, one area of concern for us has been the geopolitical instability in the regions where our developers live. Despite the audacious and terrible war forced upon the people of Ukraine, Binary has worked to ensure all developers are kept safe and able to continue delivering incredible results. Where we stood 2 years ago with this concern, we can affirmatively confirm that we have no doubts about their ability to continue to provide service.
