When we first approached Big Red Jelly, our plan was to fix a couple of bugs we had with our website. We built our website in house, and were developing  a social media presence. We were proud of our work as we had no experience at all in website design or social media marketing,  so we had no intention of working with anyone regarding those portions of our business. We only needed a little technical support.

One phone call with the professionals at Big Red Jelly changed our mind. We are proud to say now, that we work full time with Big Red Jelly and after a complete website "facelift" and constant advice from the team at Big Red Jelly our online sales have doubled... and that was through our slow season! 

I cannot say enough how grateful we are for all of the services that Big Red Jelly has provided and for the continued partnership in building our online business.

Big Red Jelly redisigned my website completely. We started by going over my goals and what I hoped the website would be. They were very knowlegable and made great suggestions that made my website that much better. We create great flow to the website, making it easy for interested clients to know how to contact me. 

They delivered a new website, a place for my blog as well as some articles written for me, a place for clients to contact me, linked my social media accounts, provided suggestions on the flow of the website and design, juiced up the information I sent them about my business in a great way, linked my website for google indexing, linked my google account so I can see my web traffic and analytics, ect.

It's still a little early but after a week of being up I've had 60+ organic visitors. I've had a lot of compliments on the website as well. I feel more confident prospecting and finding clients moving forward. I'm very happy with the websites.

The project management was the best I've experienced. They always scheduled the next apointment while  on the current call so I knew what to expect. I've worked with Big Red Jelly on two projects. First, they designed and developed a website for me using WordPress, which took a few months. Now, they're in charge of hosting my website. The team has been in charge of hosting my website for the last year and a half.

I recently had to make a modification to my site, so I contacted Big Red Jelly since they're hosting it, and they haven't replied to my emails for the last week and a half. One of the changes I need to make is adding one of my web developers to my hosting account, but I can't even log into my hosting account myself.

Big Red Jelly's website design and development work was okay. However, since the payment for the site and the hosting was made, the support promised hasn't been provided.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

Throughout the development process, Big Red Jelly performed well. For the most part, they delivered on time and on budget. We've mainly used email to communicate.

However, it has been impossible to reach out to Big Red Jelly regarding website updates and information on how to change my hosting services. I've tried to email all my previous contacts, but I don't think they work there anymore. I've even tried to email their general mailbox and call their general phone, but I've gotten no response.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Big Red Jelly has a very good schedule management when it comes to producing a website. Their deliveries are relatively timely.

Are there any areas they could improve?

From a website design perspective, there's nothing Big Red Jelly could improve on.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?

I had been in healthcare administration for 15 years. When I left, I was going to start an online company called Alcides. Thus, I originally contacted Big Red Jelly to have them build a website for me. In the meantime, I found a golf store for sale in a different state, so I ended up buying that store and put the other project on pause so that they could help me with the branding of the golf store.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Red Jelly helped me create the logo and come up with a new name for my startup golf store. However, I worked the most with Big Red Jelly for the other side of my company, Alcides. For Alcides, Big Red Jelly created the whole brand and built a website.

The project for Alcides included working on the brand strategy, coming up with a name, designing the logo, and defining our mission and vision. We worked together on a regular basis to come up with the whole concept and build the brand. As part of building that brand, they helped me create Apothos Golf as a subbrand of Alcides. Both brands are part of the same company, Colleran Holdings.

Initially, we had a discovery call with Josh (Co-Founder & CEO) that lasted about an hour. Then, we went back and forth via text messages and phone calls to exchange ideas. When he first came up with a name, we didn't love it, so we pushed back, and he came up with another name that was perfect.

As for the website development part, Big Red Jelly built our site on Shopify. Features included a blog, a shopping cart, featured items, a banner for products coming soon, and banners to announce Apothos Golf as a new company joining us.

We worked with Josh, Joe (Business Development Strategist), and Brandon (Build Strategist & E-Commerce Lead).

How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?

I found them on Google and saw their reviews on Clutch just to confirm everything I had found on them. Prior to choosing them, I met with three different companies. Big Red Jelly was the most reasonably priced, but that wasn't the reason I chose them. I decided to work with them because, after the discovery call, they came back with suggestions on areas they thought I needed help with.

Big Red Jelly even connected me with some of their partners to fill in the gaps that I had. They thought ahead of the game about what I needed and what I was like.

We spent between $12,000–$15,000.

We worked together on this project from February 2024–March 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I worked with Big Red Jelly on three different projects, and their work was absolutely extraordinary. They listened to what I wanted and delivered high-quality brand assets. I've worked with designers and other people, and they've all loved the branding packages the team created because it's very easy to work with those assets. Everything is ingrained into the bigger brand. The website will be up and running soon, and I expect a lot of success.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

In my experience as a hospital's CEO for over 15 years, I can tell that Big Red Jelly was the most professional group I had ever worked with. They were honest, offered a great price, and got back to me every time I talked to them. They were available via text messages, emails, and phone calls. Additionally, we used Canva to collaborate.

Big Red Jelly was also very polite and collaborative. There was a lot of back and forth during the engagement. Still, they took criticism very well and came up with better products from it. They constantly shared ideas and thoughts along with the actual products.  Moreover, they delivered everything on time. 

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to highlight both Josh and Joe for their work; they were very helpful. Additionally, I want to add Brandon to the list; he was excellent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Big Red Jelly has been a great partner. My mom passed away about a month ago, so I had to reschedule a couple of appointments. Big Red Jelly actually sent me flowers, which I thought was extremely kind.

On top of that, their intelligence and ease of working with them were impressive. Even though this was an area of business I had never been before, they worked with me so that I never felt I wasn't understanding. They were very down to earth and made me feel like everything I said was valuable.

Overall, they were extremely easy to work with, to the point that they almost educated me. On top of actually managing the project, there was a lot of back and forth with them, which was educational.

Another of their biggest strengths was their consistency. I worked with 5–6 of their teammates, and they were all kind, hardworking, and intelligent. I felt like I would work in that place, as they were all very good people.

There was nothing Big Red Jelly could improve on. I was very happy with their work.

Hire them and let them do their work. Be honest and open, and feel free to communicate and have discussions with them. They want feedback, and they're great at taking it to come up with a perfect finished product.

Big Red Jelly has done a new brand guide, including logos, fonts, and color schemes. They’ve also done a website and our marketing materials for sponsors, advertisers, and social media.

We initially shared our vision and goals and how we wanted to relate to our other events. Big Red Jelly came back with various logo ideas. Then, they went through the steps to refine their ideas until they came up with what we requested. We didn’t need to engage them for social media managing because we’d already gotten everything taken care of and trademarked.

The website is for the NAI 15s event; they’re doing a house brand approach. The next project for Big Red Jelly will be the rebrand of our corporate site, but we’re currently focusing on the event site.

I’ve known them for ages; the founders used to play rugby for me. Also, I wanted to support a local company.

We spent over $8,000 in the initial project. Since then, we’ve spent a bit more every year to have them refresh the website.

We began working with them in January 2018, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We track all of our website and social media traffic. Every time Big Red Jelly does a refresh, the tournament site’s traffic will quickly increase by 30%–40%. Although the tournament is a massive event, it’s hard to separate the 6.5 million social media and website interactions during the two days. We know our content isn’t driving the traffic; it’s their template’s look and feel.

Big Red Jelly creates the templates we use to put images in there dynamically, and we get good feedback on it. Overall, people like our website and social media.

How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?

We have agreed upon deadlines. They only missed one time, and it was our fault because we made a stylistic change pretty deep into the project. However, once we made the change, they maintained the schedule. Ultimately, Big Red Jelly is good at project management because they have a process they stick to.

For communication, we have weekly Zoom calls to go over deliverables. They show us the latest deliverables and any additional information. They also use ClickUp internally; we get links to see specific imagery and approve content.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re passionate about helping us produce the best possible tournament event site. Tournaments aren’t anybody’s bread and butter, so there isn’t a huge demand. Nonetheless, Big Red Jelly puts in extra time to do everything properly. They’re great at their job.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Things could always be faster, but we understand that they also work with other clients. Overall, we like how they work, so we have no complaints.

The best thing to do is to be heavily engaged with them. When you’re going over designs and content, be active. The engagement is a two-way street, a 50/50 partnership; you have a role to play to get the best out of them.
