Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a Software Architect for Auctane, a leading provider of software solutions for logistics/ecommerce. Auctane products serve businesses of all sizes with their mailing, shipping, and logistics needs. With more ways to reach consumers than ever before, businesses need solutions tailored to their needs. That’s where Auctane comes in.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire BariTechSol, and what were your goals?

As a small startup we hired BariTechSol in the early days to find a balance between our in-office dev teams and an offshore team that could help us fulfill our development needs at a lower cost. We always saw the offshore team as an extension of our in-office teams, contributing to all aspects of our SaaS platform.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for a long-term partnership, and not someone that can help level the occasional peak work loads. Bari's approach to grow the team organically as our needs grew worked very well for us, and the economics were very favourable as well.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

BariTechSol has been working on our various ecommerce and logistics platforms. We are focused on .net tech, SQL server, React, and Typescript. Our platforms utilize both Azure and AWS as hosting platforms and the team has helped us to implement cloud provider specific features (SNS/SQS, Service Bus, Lambda and Azure functions,etc). The team was instrumental in adjusting our code base to be able to run in a containerized environment, switching away from windows dependencies to Linux among other things.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We started with a very small team, and grew organically over time to 70+ individual, across Analysis, Dev and QA functions. We're very fortunate that we

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

In a vendor relationship that lasted this long it's fair to see that we have been very happy with the delivery. The continous growth demonstrates that the team was able to deliver to our expectations.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Due to the time difference we rely heavily on an asynchronous communication flow. We primarly use JIRA to communicate tasks, priorities, and ask/answer questions. We use Github workflows to review the deliverables and to communicate with the developers. 

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The continuous ability to deliver on tight deadlines, the flexibility in taking assignments, the ability to pickup new things, learn new technologies and scale with our needs.
