Our engagement style is more word of mouth, but I’m able to see users consistently visit the website, so that’s good enough for me.

They performed well from a project management standpoint, as they strictly adhered to our delivery schedules and budget. We typically communicated through in-person meetings and email.

We hired AppWT LLC to build our website and to help with different marketing strategies.

How did you select AppWT LLC and what were the deciding factors?

We decided to go with this vendor because he was quick to respond, and was able to work with our budget.

We had an existing website being hosted with Wix, but it was not the most convenient for us to personalize, did not include any stock images, and many of the features we wanted would have cost extra or simply were not available such as Unlimited Pages.

Altogether we needed a re-design of the website, but every quote we received was about $5K and wanted at least 50% up front. We could afford this, but we are a small business and had already invested a lot in the original design of the website. We were at a family playground in Livonia, and we were talking with Tony Paris as our children and his were both playing, shortly after we found out he is the Owner of AppWT and does websites.

We arranged to have a discussion later that evening in detail via Zoom and did so in length. After speaking with Tony, we found that he offers payments options and his exact words were, "If you are not integrating payment features into the website and are not selling products, just services, you should not pay more than $2.5K at most, and that is depending on how many bells and whistles you want.

After our discussion Tony said he would transfer the website to his server and host it for one flat rate cost each year, he would include emails at no cost with secure access to the inbox, include some additional security features, allow us the ability to edit the website via drag-and-drop like Wix, we would have access to many FREE Marketing features, add modern features, add background videos in the pages, include Organic SEO, and would integrate a photo library into the backend of our website.

Tony gave us a demonstration before us signing anything and especially before transferring our website, of the modern features that would be integrated. The first feature allowed us to see the exact traffic of both visits and unique visitors to our website, from w hich locations, at what times of days, if they were referred by another site, keyword used if referred by a search engine, and tons more.

The second feature then showed us how we could easily edit the Title and Description for each page of our website and see a preview in real-time of how it would appear in search engines, along with suggestions for context, length, etc. as we typed. The third feature was the ability to make our website ADA Compliant by adding tags to images and setting a default tag in case an image

We worked with two people, but mainly with Tony. Sometimes information would be sent, or any questions we would ask by email, would be often replied via email by Aaron.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are getting a lot of compliments about our website, our call volume has significantly increased, our website come up in search engines throughout various cities of the counties we serve, and AppWT is still doing ongoing support for both our marketing and technical needs.

They even consolidated our four separate inboxes into one location for us to manage everything and when we hired more employees, they added them to the website and setup their emails also.

They are very wonderful with communication. They get the job done in a timely manner and are always quick to respond. If you have a deadline Tony is wonderful at making sure those timelines are met. Tony and his team's project management style is very professional.

We loved the personalized conversations with this business. It was nice talking to the same people every time we spoke so we were always all on the same page, rather than dealing with someone different every time we spoke. We appreciated their hard work in marketing our small family-owned business.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I would say no. I feel as though this is a very well-rounded company and definitely recommend them to others.

I’m the sole proprietor of Lisa Sedan Service, a long-distance transportation company. My business is similar to a taxi, and our bookings are mostly by reservation only.

What was the scope of their involvement?

AppWT LLC has developed my website from scratch, and they’re currently providing hosting and maintenance. They’re also monitoring my reservations and calendar. Additionally, if I need changes on the site, they do it for me. 

The site allows me to approve or reject bookings in just one click — it does everything automatically, including adding bookings on my calendar. 

We’ve encountered problems when Google Calendar did an update, but they immediately fixed the issue so that everything worked fine. They didn’t charge me extra for that. They are ensuring that my website functions correctly.

I’ve seen a 20%–25% increase in engagement in Alignable, Yelp, and Facebook. Moreover, the calls I receive have increased by 30%. The website is doing what I need it to do.

The most impressive aspect of AppWT LLC is how forward thinking they are about the design of the website. They really wanted us to love our website now and long into the future. AppWT LLC truly cares about the success of my business, and it shows in the website they made for us.

We had some requests to change some aspects of the visual design. AppWT LLC was very accommodating and timely in our requests.

I’m the team leader of a paranormal team. We go all over Michigan and investigate people’s homes when they think something’s going on. We first investigate the history of the site through genealogy. We then use meters to test out the place and make sure it’s not a high EMF or radiation. From there, we try to see if there’s actually something paranormal in the house, and we give out a report after three weeks.

What was the scope of their involvement?

At first, we sat down with AppWT to tell them what we wanted. They built our whole website and made the backend mobile-accessible. Now, when we have a problem or want any changes, we just have to call them and they assist us. They’ve also set up emails for all the team members so we can communicate within us.

We needed an e-commerce website for our retail store.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our engagement with AppWT started with discussions about our business. My industry is very regulated, so we had a couple of things to iron out, and they had to wait a bit before they could start working. Once the state and the city fully licensed us, the team got started on the website immediately. 

Initially, we had sessions where we discussed the design, the calls to action (CTAs) we wanted to implement, and our business goals. I made a PowerPoint presentation of what I wanted the screens to look like, what tools to use, and which applications and APIs we wanted to have inside the website. At some point, we brought in the other companies that we were integrating with to exchange API keys and get their suggestions, but AppWT handled everything else. 

In terms of tools, I preferred to use Jane, an e-commerce platform designed explicitly for marijuana retailers. I gave them the design and tech stack, and they built the website around it. We wanted to integrate three applications: our e-commerce system, POS system, and customer loyalty program. The team made sure the apps were set up correctly and communicated with each other well. Our main goal for the site was to give customers the option to place their orders online and pick them up at our physical store at their convenience.

After they did such a great job on the website, we decided to have them continue doing site maintenance and SEO work. AppWT has also conducted a knowledge transfer and showed us how to do small, low-level processes.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

AppWT has been doing such a great job with the website. Tony’s an expert in creating a good site, and he can do everything from coding to SEO. He got us on the top of the Google search rankings — if you type the first four letters of our name, we immediately pop up in the suggestions bar.

We’ve had a lot of customers coming by our store, so their SEO work is definitely working. We don’t have any website statistics yet — it took a while to build the company, so we’ve only been in operation for six weeks. However, we’re satisfied with the results we’ve seen so far.

Working with him is really easy. In terms of communication, we would either meet in person, talk on the phone, or have a Zoom meeting.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tony's expertise and experience are just impressive. He finished the website all by himself, and he did an excellent job. He truly delivers results, so we’re looking forward to having a long-term relationship with him. He’s really flexible and accommodating to any changes we need to make — our business is still young, so we're still learning and adjusting as we go along. 

The pricing is also really fair. AppWT was nice enough to give us somewhat of a starter pack, so I know they’re looking out for their customers. Despite the long wait they had to go through initially, they remained available and adapted to the changing timelines.

I can’t think of anything. The team follows through on their promises, so we can’t ask for anything more.

What was the scope of their involvement?

My technical skills don’t allow me to build a website. Tony (Founder & CEO) came in and built the product from scratch. He very consciously added and removed things until we had a website. He gave insights and suggestions as well, augmenting the ideas that I had that he made into a reality. He designed the website so it appealed to different people.

He also assisted with SEO work. With the COVID-19 pandemic, business is way down. He worked to get us on the front page of SERPs so that if people Google barbecue catering in Michigan, I’m the first to pop up. He also set up analytics on the site.

Tony took the lead in getting me on social media as well. I don’t know how to handle that, but he put us on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and more.

I paid small fees for things and a monthly retainer. Tony was great — he didn’t try to nickel and dime me. I likely spent a couple of thousand dollars in the past two years, but I can’t give an exact number.

We worked together beginning in September 2018. We finished in March 2019, that’s when the site went live. Since then, he’s helped with maintenance, SEO, and Social Media work.

There was a significant uptick in business as a result of Tony’s work. The business is seasonal, so when everyone picked up, I fell off of the front page of SERPs. Tony came in and pushed us on social media and pushed us back up SERPs. The fees I paid Tony had a massive ROI. Unfortunately, COVID-19 destroyed the industry but that’s nobody’s fault.

Tony also set me up with a plethora of information from analytics. It’s fantastic what he’s done — he’s increased my company’s visibility and provided me all this information on my visitors.
