BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of the Rumie App, an online marketplace for college students. It is similar to the Facebook marketplace, but users have to sign up with their school email addresses to ensure that only students are on the app.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Addictive Media?

We previously had an app that was designed by a different firm, and we were looking to build a new one that was more robust and efficient and easier to use. Our previous app also had a lot of bugs that we were unable to fix.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

To start off the project, we held whiteboarding sessions with Addictive Media, during which we met with all of their developers and other members of the team and went through the app’s UI/UX design together. After that, they proceeded with the development process. They used Flutter for development and built iOS, Android, and web-based versions of the app. We continue to talk with Addictive Media every couple of weeks to go over the project’s progress.

What is the team composition?

We work with around 4–5 people from their side. Their project manager is our main point of contact.

They reached out to us through LinkedIn.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in May 2022, and it’s an ongoing partnership.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are currently in the testing phase, so we’re still constantly looking for any bugs within the app. However, we can safely say that the amount of bugs seems to be a lot lower than we expected it to be. Moreover, whenever we have any issues or questions, they’re able to address them quickly. We don’t have to wait a couple of days; they do it immediately. They’re also very diligent.

How did Addictive Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve performed very well in this regard. We use Trello as our project management tool.
For communication, we do video calls through Google Meet and interact through WhatsApp, iMessage, and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are the best when it comes to meeting deadlines.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In terms of pricing, there should have a little more wiggle room.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you plan to work with them, be ready to hit the ground running; they like to work fast.
