I was the former VP of marketing at a job training and employment corporation. I’m no longer handling the marketing, and I’m just focused on a couple of special projects.

What challenge were you trying to address with 3 Media Web?

During my tenure as VP of marketing, I worked with 3 Media Web on many web development projects. Initially, we were in the process of creating a new website for two organizations, and we had recently been with another company. We needed a lot of changes on these websites, and we needed a company that could respond right away. We also required a company with professionalism, experience, and quick reactions.

3 Media Web developed three websites for us. The first one was for MassHire Cape and Islands Career Center. We had our own brand, but the state wanted a brand name. We needed a company that could respond quickly and knew the ins and outs of websites.

3 Media Web was responsible for the entire design and development of the website, and it was a big relief for us. They continued to perfect it, and it kept getting bigger and bigger because we had more programs to add.

The second website was for the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and Islands. They needed a whole new website. There was an existing website, but there was a lot more work to be done. 3 Media Web dug in, and we did a rehaul on the entire website.

The last website was for JTEC. We took a more conservative approach to the website. We preferred to focus on our two organizations, and we wanted a website for people seeking information about what we do. We didn’t want it to be too flashy. As for the technology stack, the team used WordPress on these websites.

In the last website we built, we worked with a project manager and a developer from 3 Media Web.

How did you come to work with 3 Media Web?

As per our processes and regulations, we had to put out every project for a bid, and 3 Media Web was awarded those bids. We advertised the bids online, and they responded to the RFP. We were impressed with their references, and their prices were competitive. We also saw great examples of their work. Moreover, were impressed with Mark, the founder, and Jenny. We immediately clicked and liked them instantly, so we selected them over the other companies.

3 Media Web did excellent work, and they were very competitive, so we were very pleased with them. Everything they did was very professional. They gave us plenty of opportunities to give feedback. If we needed changes, they made them graciously. Overall, they were very professional and easy to work with.

How did 3 Media Web perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was outstanding. We had weekly meetings, especially at the beginning of the projects. Then, they took some time to develop the sites. When they were ready, we had more meetings. We reviewed everything with our president, and he suggested changes. As for collaboration tools, we used Zoom to meet, and they used Trello for project management.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to Kelly. She did an outstanding job as a project manager, keeping everyone on track. Additionally, I would like to mention Monta, the developer who worked on all three of the websites. She was amazing, extremely responsive, very professional, and really knowledgeable. She was a blessing to all of us in the development of all three websites.

I can't think of anything they could improve on. I don't have any complaints.

It’s helpful to know what you want. It’s much easier if you conceptualize what you want in your website and leave them to do the creative part.

We have a website that meets the needs of NewVue Communities and our various constituents. It is inviting, encourages visitor engagement, and promotes the expertise our our staff as well as the need for the financial support of donors.

Website redesigns are not small projects. My nonprofit chose 3 Media Web for our website makeover, and we could not be happier. Happier with the process from beginning to end and thrilled with the finished product. There are a lot of options out there for web designers. It’s not just about the quality of work but the way they conduct their business that stands well above anything I have experienced in a very long time. We regularly rely on 3 Media for our web development and web design projects in-lieu of an in-house web developer. We wanted to dramatically overhaul our home page for a more modern experience that allowed for much more interactivity. We needed users to be able to enter dynamic information right within the home page and have that activity seamlessly connect them to other pages in the site.

We also had a number of technical, logistical, and design considerations that had to be factored into the design. We gave our 3 Media project lead Anthony a rough prototype of what we wanted, and he knocked it out of the park on the first go. The new home page does exactly what we want it to and early tests have shown it to be 50% more effective at guiding new providers to our jobs page.

Like all of our other experiences with 3 Media, they were fast, responsive, pleasant to work with, and incredible at understanding the requirements of a project and delivering on that without an endless back and forth.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've split test the original home page to the new home page 3 Media designed for us with the goals of navigating more providers and prospects to our high-impact pages and driving more form fills. The new design has been significantly more effective (53% increase) at driving users to our high-impact provider and client pages.

Most notably, we have seen a 120% increase in visits to our provider job pages from new users that come in from high-intent searches on Google. On a less quantitative level, our whole team vastly prefers the look and function of the new page on an aesthetic and user-experience level.

Anthony did a terrific job managing this project. He gave us a very clear quote in terms of billable hours for the project and on our request provided a second quote with alternate additional functionality. He overdelivered in every aspect: functionality, turnaround, and quality. We'll continue to work with them whenever we have a web design or web development need.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I've never worked with a vendor where so little hand-holding is needed. In a niche industry like ours, there's usually a lot of back and forth required before the vendor is able to fully understand the unique needs of our project and to successfuly deliver on that vision. In every project I've worked with on 3 Media, they understand the assignment and successfully deliver on the ask in a timely fashion with high-quality results.

We hired 3 Media Web to re-platform our website, migrating it from a non-functional CMS to WordPress. They were also required to do some limited reworking on the website to update it.

3 Media Web has taken our website as is and moved it over to WordPress. There hasn’t been any redesign done, though they’ve slightly reformatted some of the site’s pages. I’ve been working with them closely to optimize them after migrating to WordPress. 

For features and functionality, our website is mainly a brochure. It doesn’t have any e-commerce capabilities since we’re a law firm. Given that, we’ve built our practice and industry pages. The site has a custom web biography feature alongside other forms of content. It has contact forms, blogs, and a featured video on the homepage. 3 Media Web has also helped us redesign a button and homepage feature that lists the industries we serve.

We’ve only recently launched the website, so we don’t have a lot of data. However, it’s much faster now. I haven’t had nearly as many problems as I had before the migration to WordPress — it’s head and shoulders better than where the site was before. Overall, 3 Media Web’s work has been excellent, and the product is everything we want. 

How did 3 Media Web perform from a project management standpoint?

The entire team has been truly fantastic. I’ve worked closely with Sarah and Sean, and they’ve both been excellent. Kelsey has also done great work. Moreover, their communication has been top-notch, and they meet our deadlines and budget requirements. To communicate, we mainly use emails; we also sometimes use phone calls and Google Meet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The communication of 3 Media Web’s stakeholders has been impressive. We’ve met their co-CEO, and she truly wants to know how we’re doing. The entire team takes care of us and doesn’t just pass us from one person to another. There’s a lot of follow-up, and they’re highly responsive. When I have questions, they answer me right away and send someone who has the answers.

We kicked off with a strategic review of the website and digital assets, as well as the business objectives and approach. The scope and timeline were understood to be at least a quarter, if not two, as a minimum investment in order to see results. I'm familiar enough with this space to agree with this approach. 

The team, with my involvement as well as that of my third-party web design and development resource, began to audit on-site content for barriers to user clarity, search engine rankings, and strategic effectiveness overall. They cleaned up the site's analytics. 

They made and recommended subtle as well as sweeping changes to some of the key pages and some of the most-accessed pages; they worked side-by-side with me to revise cornerstone content so that it would better reflect current strategy and be clearer for visitors (of both the human and bot kind).

I’m a department lead at a US-based fintech startup that helps connect great companies with the right capital solutions for them in a few different ways. We have an intelligent capital market (ICM) platform where companies looking for funding can log in, input their data, and get connected with investors looking to deploy capital.

Moreover, our platform lets users get an investor’s opinion of their business. Basically, we take all the heavy lifting out of looking for funding. Usually, these companies spend hours creating decks, spreadsheets, and different collateral pieces to show the value of their business. Now, our ICM platform does that for them.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with 3 Media Web?

We needed help with redeveloping our main website. Our current website didn’t look like it belonged to our brand anymore, and it required some updated messaging as well. Moreover, the visual elements didn’t look quite right for our target audiences, some of our products had changed slightly, and the way we spoke to our target audience had also changed. Therefore, we decided to take the opportunity and redo our entire website, so we hired 3 Media Web.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

3 Media Web has helped us redevelop our main website from scratch, and they’re now building a whole new website for a community content platform that we’ll be launching later this year as a subbrand of our main business. This new website will be a resource center for new entrepreneurs and companies that haven’t raised money before, where they’ll learn more about the fundraising landscape and how to prepare themselves for fundraising.

3 Media Web has built both websites using WordPress and trained us on how to use WordPress to manage the sites ourselves. They’ve also integrated a lot of marketing technology into our websites’ backend, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, and data-tracking tools. In addition to that, they’ve made our sites animated, integrating sophisticated interactions and design features.

As for our main website, although they built a new one from scratch, 3 Media Web took some elements from our former website. Mainly, they migrated all of our blog content during the QA phase because we didn’t want to lose years of blogs. Now, 3 Media Web is in charge of our maintenance and hosting, doing quarterly reviews.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked very closely with Kelly (Project Manager), an account manager, a web solutions architect, and a UI designer who also acted as creative director. However, we don’t have direct contact with their developers. Still, we’ve also worked with Jessica (CEO).

How did you come to work with 3 Media Web?

A company based in Georgia referred them to us. I’m not from the US, so I don’t have many contacts here. Therefore, they were a great resource for me as a newcomer who didn’t have word-of-mouth recommendations.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent under $90,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around August 2022, and our engagement is ongoing. 3 Media Web launched our main website in January 2023, and the other website is in the last stages of QA.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since launching our new website, we’ve seen a 39% increase in web traffic and a 7% increase in our conversion rate. We’ve also received great anecdotal feedback from different partners. For example, our sales team is getting fewer questions about the basics of our business. When we started this project, we told 3 Media Web that we wanted to frontload as much of the sales call on our website as possible. They took that to heart in their work.

Moreover, our main website looks very polished now, demonstrating that 3 Media Web’s designer truly understood our landscape as a technology company dealing with fundraising and finance. Usually, financial companies have a unique design language. However, we didn’t want to look like a bank; we wanted to look like a light and nimble technology company. What 3 Media Web did aesthetically to accomplish that goal was very noticeable.

As for the quality of their work, 3 Media Web has laid out the backend of our sites incredibly well. Of all the WordPress websites that I’ve used in my career, our main website is probably the best-done I’ve ever seen. I don’t have development experience, but I’ve been able to figure the site out, upload images, and update texts easily. Thanks to how well 3 Media Web has built our sites, we can take care of our websites every day.

How did 3 Media Web perform from a project management standpoint?

3 Media Web’s performance has been fantastic. They’re over-communicators, so we’ve always known where we are, especially in terms of meeting our ambitious deadlines. Kelly has been really good at holding us accountable for revisions and content to ensure that her team meets the deadlines we ask for.

For example, Kelly has check-ins with us every couple of days for three weeks before a deadline to get our approval on the different content pieces. Overall, she’s very on top of everything. Thanks to that approach, 3 Media Web developed our main website very quickly for us; we were very impressed by how fast they worked and how accommodating they were.

3 Media Web has taken a similar approach to budget management. We haven’t gone over budget with them, so we’re very happy with their work. Those great results are possible because they’re very strong communicators.

As for collaboration tools, 3 Media Web uses a project management tool called Accelr. Although we haven’t been great at using that tool, they’ve adapted their communication style to match us, so they also send us an email when needed. In addition to those tools, we communicate via Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication is 3 Media Web’s main strength. Moreover, I was very impressed by the level of detail they put into the initial research and strategy phase. During that phase, Jessica was fantastic at pushing us to think about our audiences, messaging, and solutions in a very interesting and constructive way.

When we initially approached 3 Media Web, we had a simple request: we needed a new website. However, their team has helped us be more strategic about our way of thinking and given us fantastic suggestions for how to organize our content in a way we would’ve never thought of ourselves.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, we’ve had a great experience working with 3 Media Web, so there’s nothing they could improve on. When our main website was first launched, we had a small issue with the design — it was enlarged in the browser.

There was a small disconnect between the designs we had seen because we didn’t realize how those designs would scale in the browser. Therefore, we called 3 Media Web and told them that everything looked the way we asked for but that it looked as if it was 20% scaled up, and they came back with two solutions.

Firstly, their developer fixed and rescaled the crucial parts of our website, such as all our calls to action, to ensure that those elements looked perfect for potential users trying to contact us. Then, they did a slightly bigger fix, rescaling the entire website as a whole so that each element looked proportional to one another. 3 Media Web implemented those changes within two weeks of launch, which was very quick.

Go in with an open mind and lean on their expertise. 3 Media Web is an expert in many different subject matter areas.

I’m the marketing communications assistant specialist at Kinematics, one of the world’s leading companies in drives and actuators for the solar-tracking industry. We also offer products for the industrial mobile crane and satellite communication industries.

We’ve been in business since 1996 and have deployed over 2 million drives. Therefore, we’re currently helping generate 53 gigawatts of solar energy through all of our customers. In my role, I’m in charge of our marketing projects.

What challenge were you trying to address with 3 Media Web?

Our website wasn’t laid out well, its colors and imagery weren’t great, and it was extremely hard to navigate. For example, when I was applying for my role, I couldn’t tell where the company was at.

Moreover, a lot of internal and external people had the same opinion. Our website didn’t have helpful information for customers, and it didn’t have a good support system. Whenever we needed even slight changes, we had to go back to our web developer to get help making those. Therefore, we decided to reach out to 3 Media Web to help us redo our website.

One of our goals was to have a website that conveyed that we were gearing more toward technology than a manufacturing company. We also wanted to highlight who we were as a company.

What was the scope of their involvement?

3 Media Web helped us rebuild our website, creating a very good foundation for it. We had a very tight deadline, so they started by developing the homepage, and they then created pages displaying the solutions for each of the three industries we operate in.

In total, 3 Media Web built 10 pages for our website. Still, they also worked with us on a training session to teach us how to use the backend and build more pages ourselves. As for the technology stack, they used WordPress and Pantheon.io to build the site.

What is the team composition?

We worked with eight teammates from 3 Media Web, including Kelly (Project Manager), a salesperson, a web developer, a secondary developer, a trainer, a content writer, a dedicated support person, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with 3 Media Web?

I had heard about 3 Media Web during a different search and really liked their team. They seemed to be a great company with great teammates to work with. When I joined the company, I realized that we needed a new website, so I brought 3 Media Web very early into the vetting process.

Although I reached out to other companies, none of them was the right fit for what we needed. 3 Media Web was very flexible in how they would work on the project and the number of people they would bring into it. We also saw that they offered writing services, so we felt they had the whole package.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $20,000 on this project. Additionally, we now pay $10,000 per year for support services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on this project from December 2022–March 2023. Now, 3 Media Web provides us with ongoing support services. They also offer other services, so we’ll be looking at their SEO, PPC, and keyword research offering next.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

3 Media Web did a great job of learning a lot about us and highlighting that on our website. Our site lays out very clearly the best products we offer for each specific industry. Additionally, it’s very easy to connect to our sales team and download our resources.

The site includes very clear information about who we are, how we’ve become one of the industry leaders, who our leadership is, and what our sustainability efforts look like. Moreover, it has testimonials from clients on the homepage, as well as very easy ways to connect with us, allowing clients to find the right solutions for their needs.

Two weeks after the website launch, we went to two trade shows and received very positive feedback from our customers and attendants. The people who knew our old brand and website told us that we did a great job of redoing them.

As for hard metrics, 3 Media Web set up tracking tools within our site to track certain metrics. Unfortunately, we didn’t do that with our old website, so we don’t have a point of reference to compare. We’ll wait until the end of April 2023 to compare results with those of March 2023.

How did 3 Media Web perform from a project management standpoint?

3 Media Web did a great job of managing the project. Kelly ensured that both her team and ours stayed on task. On our side specifically, she ensured that we sent them specific content or images on time. She also made sure that we looked at progress and made comments in a timely manner.

As for communication tools, we mainly communicated via email. To this day, we still communicate via email, whether it is their support email or the direct email address of the dedicated support person.

3 Media Web was very flexible and open to our ideas. They never told us they couldn’t do something, and they ensured to implement everything we wanted. To this day, they’ve never hesitated to make additions or changes to the site as requested.

It would have been nice if 3 Media Web had added a project management tool to our engagement. We would have liked to know where their teammates were at regarding their tasks because, even internally, I wasn’t always sure if people were doing what they were supposed to. Having a project overview and ensuring everyone was on the same page would have been a great improvement.

We partnered with 3 Media Web to migrate our Webflow website to WordPress. Our Webflow instance was not designed well. Additionally, Webflow lacked key integrations we needed for accurate reporting. Our website was also very slow, with a high bounce rate. 3 Media Web handled the migration in 6 weeks.

Now our website is lightning fast, the bounce rate has improved by 36%, and the conversions have improved as well. They also eliminated our bot submission issue. We couldn't be happier with our partnerships. We're about to kick off the redesign phase of the project.
