Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Yes, 90%+ of the time. The only time things were delayed was when payroll would fall on a day that the person assigned to my account does not work (Fridays), which has definitely caused some issues. As we grow and build this business, we won't be able to accept that a Friday be an off day if that is a payroll day - it ends up falling on me to do payroll in those circumstances.

The person assigned to my account (Beata) is HIGHLY accountable and capable. I super appreciate their consistency and how much I can trust them with the things I need.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Zenbooks could have done differently?

As mentioned in the question before - right now, the assigned representative does not work on Fridays, which in the beginning wasn't really an issue, but is now becoming an issue as we grow, and people really expect to be paid on a Friday when the payroll period lands on that day. Otherwise, everything has been great.

I’m the marketing and business development manager for LouLou Lounge Furniture Rental and Chic + Swell Event Design. We design and furnish event spaces in the National Capital Region, offering curated rentals, custom layouts, and seamless setup to make event planning easy and stylish.

What challenge were you trying to address with Zenbooks?

We needed help managing the accounting for our two businesses, including advisory, tax strategy, and business financial strategy planning.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Zenbooks provides accounting management, monthly bookkeeping, and live monthly Zoom reviews. The team also reconciles bank and credit cards, accounts receivable and payable, maintains data feeds, files HST, processes all Dext documents, and cash-codes remaining transactions. Their work covers two corporations and overhead allocation.Moreover, Zenbooks offers all-inclusive payroll services for eight full-time and three part-time employees. They run bi-weekly payrolls on Wagepoint, provide an employee self-service portal, review taxable benefits, and support hires, terminations, vacations, and deductions.Additionally, Zenbooks prepares and e-files T2 corporate tax returns, provides a one-hour review call, creates an installment schedule, answers up to three simple tax questions per year, and offers CRA letter advice. The team also consults with an investment advisor, analyzes salary versus dividend, and calculates home office and KM allowance.Furthermore, Zenbooks provides systems setup and training, recommends extra apps, and implements and integrates Dext and Plooto. The team also prepares T1 personal tax returns, provides a 0.5-hour review call, and offers expense and credit guidance.Moreover, Zenbooks offers fractional controller services, oversees billing, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, inventory, and revenue recognition. The team also provides technical accounting research, supports month and year-end close, and offers management reports and KPIs.In addition, Zenbooks manages bi-weekly accounts payable, prepares an accounts payable listing every two weeks, initiates the first approval layer in Plooto, and batch processes for two entities. The team also offers comprehensive personalized tax planning, a holistic review of compensation, retirement, investment, estate, philanthropy, and insurance.

We started working with Zenbooks in August 2025, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We measure progress and success via an ongoing projects tracker that we update sporadically on our end to track tasks and project completion. So far, Zenbooks has set up Dext and Plooto, created a workflow with Victoria and the team, determined the process for accounts payable and receivable, set up cash flow statements, and started tax planning.

How did Zenbooks perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate with Zenbooks via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps. The team delivers on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Zenbooks’ versatility, responsiveness, knowledge, and friendliness are impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their project management has some shortfalls. We lack visibility on ongoing tasks and projects, and I would like to have clear tracking of projects and tasks as included in the SOW and timeline of when they would be implemented. We’ve had to follow up a lot and felt like we didn’t have much visibility at times on the progress of implementing new projects.
